Zach | 5 comments I don't know if anyone here reads comics but check these out anyway.
1) Girl Genius is a web comic about a girl with a powerful "spark". In layman's terms shes a mad scientist. This is an alternate future where zepplins, death rays and robots are common and mad scientists terrorize the populace on a regular basis. The link below is to the very first comic. If you can't seem to get into it don't give up immediately. It begins to make more sense and the world becomes much richer as you get into volume two.

2) Gunnerkrigg Court isn't straight up steampunk but its got a steampunk vibe to it. Its about an alternate future where the world is divided between magic and science (literally, with a large chasm). Again the story and art don't really pick up until the third chapeter.

BethAnn (capyhamper) | 1 comments I like Girl Genius. I only got into it awhile ago, but really like it thus far. I am not sure where I would be in relation to the hardcopy because I only read on the webcomic or else I would check them off here on Goodreads! But the book versions should be here!

Girl Genius Vol. 1 Agatha Heterodyne & the Beetleburg Clank
Girl Genius Vol. 2 Agatha Heterodyne & The Airship City
Girl Genius Vol. 3 Agatha Heterodyne & The Monster Engine
Girl Genius Vol. 4 Agatha Heterodyne & The Circus Of Dreams
Girl Genius Vol. 5 Agatha Heterodyne & The Clockwork Princess
Girl Genius Vol. 5 Agatha Heterodyne & The Clockwork Princess
Girl Genius Vol. 6 Agatha Heterodyne & The Golden Trilobite
Girl Genius Vol. 6 Agatha Heterodyne & The Golden Trilobite
Girl Genius Vol. 7 Agatha Heterodyne and the Voice of the Castle
Girl Genius Issue #8
Girl Genius #13

Yeah... I *THINK* my webcomic reading MAY place me around here from the sound of the title, but I really have no idea. Girl Genius Vol. 2 Agatha Heterodyne & The Airship City by Phil Foglio

Mir | 3 comments Agatha Heterodyne my tbr list. I'll second the recommendation for Gunnerkrigg Court, which is awesome.

Another steampunk-ish graphic novel is FreakAngels Volume 1 which is a post-apocalyptic drama with psychic siblings, and is more adult (in the sense of having nudity, swearing, etc). The steampunk aspect is mainly in how they are trying to rebuild their city from leftovers. Also free online.
