Basically, just comment and say you want in and answer the question of what type of holiday shopper you are. (Find the question in bold in the introduction and use one of the three answers there in your comment.) If you have a specific shelf that you want your picker to use when picking for you, be sure to mention it in the comment! Hina will tell us at 8pm CST tonight who we pick for, so check back tonight!

Glad to help, Fran! Loved this challenge when I tried it out last month for the first time, so came back for more!

Isa, gotta tell you as a (semi)newbie to this challenge, it is a total blast to do. Don't be too nervous about picking for someone, they'll tell you if they need you to pick something else for them or not. I had a great picker for me last month, and she introduced me to lots of books that I normally wouldn't have chosen for myself. Of the 10 books I read for the challenge last month, only 2 of them were books I didn't care for (rated 2 stars or less), and two of them were total winners! Well worth participating in, even for one or two books!

message 75: by Fran, Moderator (new)

Fran | 12278 comments Hi Everyone!

If you have a minute, while waiting for the always awesome PIFM to begin, please stop by the Ask An Author, Win A Book thread.

Karen-Anne Stewart is doing a Q&A/book giveaway today and tomorrow. She will be giving away a copy of each of her books in her Rain Trilogy.

Her books look really interesting and the theme is close to her heart. She has worked with victims of domestic abuse in the past, and her idea for a human trafficking story, mixed with romantic suspense, is very intriguing.

Here's the link if you would like to stop by and ask Karen-Anne a question-

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 86 comments Roughly 30 minutes to go! I may actually be awake/online when the pairs are matched. We'll see...getting kind of tired and also caught up in a book.

message 77: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 2581 comments Hi guys,

I am so sorry, I meant to have the pairings up by now, but its been one of those horrible days and after my class, my sister got into an accident, she's okay. But her car is pretty much not drivable. So I have been playing chauffeur to my mom and sister. Just got home a bit ago and I will have it up as soon as I can.

message 85: by Runell (new)

Runell Hi, ilovebakedgoods (Teresa)! We don't really have too many books in common so this was a slight challenge. I hope you're able to find something that you like. Here are my picks for you.

Foodie: Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler : Second chances and cupcakes. [New to You]

Techie: Blood Red Road (Dust Lands, #1) by Moira Young : Ravaged lands. Revolutionaries. Abduction. [Pick4MeLibrary]

Fashionista: Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1) by R.L. LaFevers : Assassin in a dress? Badass. [Pick4MeLibrary]

Kiddies: Bear, Otter, and the Kid (Bear, Otter, and the Kid, #1) by T.J. Klune : I didn't see any M/M romance on your shelves, but if you're willing to give it a go, this is quite a beautiful story that I highly recommend. Don't let the cover fool you. [New to You]

Traveler: The Bronze Horseman (The Bronze Horseman, #1) by Paullina Simons : Emotional. Tragic. Beautiful. [New to You]

Artistically Inclined: The Good Dream by Donna VanLiere : Beautiful cover. [Pick4MeLibrary]

Book Lover: The Invisible Bridge by Julie Orringer : Good ratings. [Pick4MeLibrary]

Stocking Stuffer: The Ghost on My Couch by L.A. Gilbert : Another M/M romance. If you decide you want to dip your toes into the M/M genre, this one is an excellent to start out with because it's a simple story and there isn't any sex front and center. [New to You]

Enjoy the reading!

Ty | 1943 comments Haha! Lacy! I'm picking for you again! mwahahaha. I had to go look up the last time I picked for you just so I didn't rec the same books. If you need repicks, let me know!

1. Foodie
TBR: Perfection - big Thanksgiving scene in this one. LOVED this. Favorite of the trilogy thus far.
NEW: Stir Me Up - just released New Adult. wannabe chef vs. wounded vet. He kicks her out of her bedroom, she throws a muffin at him.

2. Techie
TBR: Where'd You Go, Bernadette - recent bookclub read. very light and fun!
NEW: Angelfall - Lucky you, you can check this out before the sequel is released in November. This was one of my most surprising reads last year and it's been a LONG wait. Fiesty heroine!

3. Fashionista
TBR: Fancy Pants - I think I rec'd this last time... not sure. Man, SEP was my go-to read in my younger days. I re-read the last half of this book over and over, lol.
NEW: The Duke - a fashionista by, um, profession. different from your normal historicals.

4. Kiddies
TBR: Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake - I love ugly duckling stories and you might notice a going theme with that in my recs here. 5-star read for me!
NEW: Pushing the Limits - definitely about family. Pull out your hanky for this one.

5. Traveler
TBR: Zero at the Bone - "on the run" sounds jet-setty to me, right? this looks hot. available for BR!
NEW: Latakia - love love love, not only because half of it was set in my neighborhood, but also loved that it showcased the brotherhood of comrades in arms.
NEW: Night Whispers - I know post-apoc isn't your thang, but I was surprised at how sweet and awwww-worthy this book turned out to be. I've decided to pimp this out regularly!

6. Artistically Inclined
TBR: The Darkest Hour - um, this cover "speaks" to me, most def. Maya Banks is hit or miss with me but I heart this series and the Kellys.
NEW: The Edge of Never - sequel coming out soon! New adult - strangers meet on a bus - sparks ensue.

7. Book Lover
NEW: Promises - recent read, gay-for-you. teacher is as close to bookworm as I could get. A cute story with no angst or drama (well only slightly a little). really well done progression from BFFs to love interest.
TBR: Mackenzie's Mountain - TRULY a classic read! shy schoolteacher meets cute with town outcast. zomg!

8. Stocking Stuffer
TBR: Quinn's Hart - SUCH a cute freaking story! set at Disney World, the happiest place on earth :D

I had a great time looking through your books. I hope you find a few that you will enjoy. Of all the recommendations I've made to you, I've read them all but 2. Here you go:

1. Foodie - Thanksgiving dinner Into the Deep this was such a great book and I think you'll really enjoy.

2. Techie - For the gadget obsessed this was a hard category for me, but I think that Dark Lover works in a pinch. I just read this and loved it.

3. Fashionista - For the fashion friendly, cover with a really nice dressed model The Collector Dante Walker really cares about how he looks, how he's dressed and what his ride looks like. I'm not normally into YA, but this was great. I really enjoyed this book.

    a. Surrender Your Love - awesome book.
    b. World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War - I just finished with the newest release audiobook... and it was mind-blowing amazing. I am so happy that I listened to it rather than read it. It was so well done (ALL-Star cast) that for a time, I really was beginning the think it happened. LOL

6. Artistically Inclined - book cover that you love or a cover that speaks to you. This one was hard for me to find for you.... I settled on Don't Make Me Beautiful as I felt many emotions while looking at the cover and reading the description.
