The Bone People by Keri Hulme (re-read)
Disturbing the Peace by Richard Yates (treating myself to a book of one of my favorite authors as sort of a birthday present for myself)
Maus I : A Survivor's Tale : My Father Bleeds History by Art Spiegelman

I am really looking forward to the discussion. It caused a lively debate when we were discussing it in my Victorian Literature class last year.

Thank you.

Thank you.
Was it a discussion about the wanton sex in the book?

I also need to read The Importance of Being Earnest as our group play which I believe ends in November?

No, the group read for the play run until just before Christmas - Dec. 21st - so plenty of time for that.

Their Eyes Were Watching God - both readalong

Laura - I had never heard of him either pre-GoodReads. I borrowed The Midwich Cuckoos because it is on the Guardian list and it seemed from the blurb to be a bit spooky so I thought it might be a good Halloween book. I think Wyndham is popular in England more than America...

Leslie I haven't read that either, just know the basic premise, its another one on the TBR though :)

I've read quite a few of John Wyndham's books, including The Midwich Cuckoos. Really enjoyed them as a teenager, and loved The Day of the Triffids.

I think that is why it seemed like a good Halloween book! I have seen about 10 minutes of the film before I got spooked (I don't generally watch scary movies, especially if I am alone!).

Beloved
Into the Darkest Corner (for my book club)
Their Eyes Were Watching God(readalong with Leslie)
The Remains of the Day
Wuthering Heights(group read)
I like that I can see what book covers people post with this app. I'm still not what I'm going to read at the minute. haha

Into the Darkest Corner - brilliant, one of the best books I've ever read!

That is when audiobooks are such a wonderful thing!

I loved Death of a Salesman, I studied it a few years ago but for the life of me I can't remember the other play we also studied. I think it shows how much that Miller's play had an effect on me, haha.

A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
1984 by George Orwell (re-read)
Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood
The Prose Edda by Snorri Sturluson
The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales by Brothers Grimm
Catch-22 by Joseph Heller (I'm really not sure about this one...)
Selected Poems by T.S. Eliot (I really need to read more poetry...)
I loved 1984, I thought it was amazing. Loads of people thought I was a bit weird though for loving it because it's really dark.
