YAY, Karen!! I loved it so much too that first time reading it! You are making me want to reread it again! lol
There was an interview with Jennifer at the end of the audio. Really interesting. This will be an incredible Q&A! 2 more days. We should start posting our questions now. Here's mine:
Hi Jennifer. I just finished The False Prince and loved it! I'm looking forward to continuing with The Runaway King!! What's up next for you after The Ascendance Trilogy? Any new books in the works?

Hi, Jennifer, I'm so excited that you came to our group! I loved reading both the False Prince and The Runaway King so much! I really loved Sage as a character! What do you like best about Sage, and what was your favorite part about writing him?

How do you stay motivated to continue writing your book? I tried writing one but I started and stopped and that was kind of it.

Hi Jennifer..."
Hello Karen! I hope you'll enjoy The Runaway King just as much as book 1. The third book of the series is The Shadow Throne and by the time you finish TRK, it'll be really obvious where that final book of the trilogy is heading.
Right now, I'm hard at work on my next series, The Praetor War, which is an alternate history of the fall of Rome that involves a runaway slave boy, some stolen magic, and a war to control the greatest empire on earth. It's been a lot of fun to write so far!

Thank you for reading, Jeann. The general idea was something that had been in my mind for some time, but when I'd start to write it, the hero would collapse under the weight of the plot. One day I was listening to the soundtrack to the movie "Into the Wild" by Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam), and a song of his, Guaranteed. The lyrics said, "I knew all the rules, but the rules did not know me, guaranteed." And I thought, that's who I'm looking for - a character who knows exactly what game he is playing, but the other characters don't know the rules are being very quietly rewritten. He became Sage. And once I had Sage, the entire story came together.

Jeann, you also asked about the movie. Here's where things are at:
Paramount Pictures hired one of the writers from HBO's GAME OF THRONES series to write the screenplay. That's in process now. So it's too early yet to know whether a movie will go forward, but I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed!
p.s. I'm glad your nephew enjoyed it too!

We can't wait to read The Runaway King and the next part of the series!
Is The Praetor War going to be the same sort of target audience?

Thanks for reading, Jenny! I have loved writing Sage. What's most interesting to me about him is that Sage is a study in opposites. Whatever trait he has on one end of the scale, he usually has its opposite too. So he's very tough, but also really vulnerable. He's brilliant, but can be stupid about some things too (girls). He is compassionate, yet he does not suffer fools. And so on. So that dichotomy makes him really interesting to write.
My favorite part about writing him is that he can be very unpredictable, even to me. Before writing, I might put something together in an outline, thinking it seemed like a good idea, but once I get into it, Sage will push in another direction. I love finding out what he's going to do next, since it's not always what I expect!

Questions Master List:
1) Karen- Hi Jennifer. I just finished The False Prince and loved it! I'm looking forward to continuing with The Runaway King!! What's up next for you after The Ascendance Trilogy? Any new books in the works?
2) Jeann- Hi Jennifer, The False Prince was a pleasant surprise to me and I have enjoyed it along with my 8 year old nephew. What inspired the concept of your book?
Any plans for a movie or something in the works?
3) Jenny- Hi, Jennifer, I'm so excited that you came to our group! I loved reading both the False Prince and The Runaway King so much! I really loved Sage as a character! What do you like best about Sage, and what was your favorite part about writing him?
4) Natalie- OMG HELLO Mrs.Nielsen (I'm a kid so I think I'm required to call you that XD)!!! I've only read The False Prince (I am getting The Runaway King for Christmas) but boy was it GREAT! Anyways, I don't want to bore you with my gushing so I'll get to the question:
How do you stay motivated to continue writing your book? I tried writing one but I started and stopped and that was kind of it.
5) Jeann- Is The Praetor War going to be the same sort of target audience?
6) Karen- I'm so interested in the movie adaption. Will you be able to be involved or is it too early to tell yet? Who would be your dream actor to play Sage?
7) Ashly- Hello Jennifer, I really love The False Prince and The Runaway King. I'm really excited for the 3rd book. Was it difficult to write Sage or any of the other characters?
8) David- What does your typical day look like? How do you balance your career with regular life?
9) Kerr- Hi Jennifer, it's amazing to hear about the film adaption! I hope it's a success.
I loved how the first book was from Sage's point of view, we were in his head, but at the same time he kept so much from us. Was this hard to write, giving his expected opinion on things without actually giving anything real away?
Do you write chapter by chapter, or do you write the important and interesting bits first and link them together?
10) Hazel- Hi Jennifer! First off, I have to say how much I love your books. Sage is just a totally awesome character. I'm really looking forward to the last book and the movie as well (which is totally amazing).
As a writer myself I was curious to hear a bit about how you got the idea for the trilogy and how Sage first presented himself to you as a character, and whether he's one of those characters who took a life of his own, or if you knew him pretty well before you started writing.
Also, I'm looking forward to hearing more about your Praetor series. I love anything set in Roman era so I'm pretty excited to see what you have in store.
11) Dre- Hi Mrs. Nielsen! I loved The False Prince. I'm not much of an MG reader, but I was awed by the plot of the story that I had to rate it really high!
Who are your favorite authors, or authors that influenced your writing?
12) Kelly- I just wanted to pop in and say g'day, and ask a question too.
Living the life of a busy author, what's your one guilty pleasure that you reward yourself with?
13) Gary- Hi Jennifer! Glad you spared some of your time to have a chat with all of the fanboys and fangirls of your amazing series!
I just have a question (sorry if it isn't in bold since I'm using my phone), as an aspiring writer, how do you differentiate your voice from that of your characters, since let's be honest, having a character have his own voice is very difficult. Thanks!
14) Jenny- Wow, The Praetor Wars sounds amazing! I can't wait to read that one! And so excited about a possible movie for the False Prince, I think it would make a good movie!
What has been the most surprising thing about being a writer?
15) Lauren- You've mentioned Eddie Vedder's "Guaranteed" as an inspiration and influence for Sage's character and his journey in previous questions and in the About the Author section of The Runaway King. While writing other characters such as Tobias, Roden, Mott, Conner, Imogen, etc., did any other songs or artists influence their development in the series?
16) Marianne- Hi Jennifer! I literally JUST finished the book. (I was hearing the audio and I had to pullover once I got to the big plot twist. MY GOD.) It was amazing in every possible way and I can't believe how seamlessly it was written.
My question to you is, how did you come up with Carthea (the setting. P.S. sorry if it isn't spelled right!)? Did you base it on a real place or did it just occur to you in a way?
17) Heather- How do you choose your characters?
18) Jenny- Do you ever get writer's block, and if so, how do you deal with it?
19) Karen- What goes into a fight scene? How do you know how to describe a scene where a character gets stabbed or killed?
20) Brenda- I was wondering what kind of research, if any that you did when writing The Ascendance Trilogy? and also for the upcoming Praetor Wars?
21) Jenny- What is the hardest thing about writing? What is the easiest?
22) Karen- What are some novels you read recently that you enjoyed?
23) Jenny- Vanilla or chocolate?
24) Brenda- Do you see any of yourself in the characters that you write?
25) Jeann- Have you always known that you wanted to write, and how long did it take to write your first book?
How does it feel to be a best selling author? Do your friends and family know about your books and do they read your books? Have you gotten some great fan moments?
26) Ashly- Have you always wanted to become a writer? What or Who Inspired you to become a writer?
27) Brenda- I saw that you mentioned you'll be writing the sixth book of the Infinity Ring. What has it been like stepping into a series where the characters are all ready established? What have been the challenges and rewards?
28) David- Have there been any other particularly emotional fan experiences you've had?
29) Brenda- Do you have a scene or line from the books you've written that is one of your favorites you wrote?
30) Brenda- I was wondering what was the inspiration for The Underworld Chronicles?
31) Caitlin-
A) What inspired you to start writing The False Prince? I know Sage came later after you struggled to have a MC that could handle the story but what brought about the story in the first place?
B) When did you decide to step away from teaching or are you still doing so?
C) When you started The Ascendence Trilogy did you plot an outline for it before starting, either for the whole trilogy or for each book? Did you always plan on there being three books?
