Hmmm. My libraries only stock book 1 and 2. I may have to buy this (gasp) if its available on kindle
Thanks Anima! Actually - I just researched more and found another library that I can get it from on audio. So once I've done with Grave Sight I can get to this!
Karen and Sonia, sorry to hear that the narrator was average in this read, I have started my adventure with audiobooks and I'm looking for some good versions. As I started with Dresden Files, my expectations have been set high unfortunately LOL.
I didn't love the narrarator at first either but I think she got better in book 2. It could have also been that book 1 was just a hard book to get through at first. And book 2 read much easier.
I'm in 40% and so far I like this book best. The plot is original (we are introduced to the world of supernatural gladiators) and as usually packed with action, but this time I have the feeling that it is a little bit slower-paced which suits the plot line fine. There are few repetitions and some recaps, but all in cosiderable amount, useful rather than annoying or distracting. (view spoiler). Highly gripping and very entertaining read!
I agree. This was the book that addicted me to the series. I'm re-reading it slowly so I can appreciate it even more - not an easy task :)
Gah. I have too many books on the go to squeeze this in now (Orphan Master's Son suckered me in!!). I'll be a week or so behind
Nicole wrote: "This book is definitely best! I went through 70 pages before having to put it down to go to bed."I am starting it this evening... Nicole, get to Death Masks as soon as you can. It was amazing. That whole series is amazing. I love Kate Daniels too, but trouble-magnet Harry holds a new special place in my heart!!!
Well, i am done. I just raced throught this one. I do not think the story is better than the other ones, but the pace of the story keeps you reading.
More than half way through right now. How strange for me to be ahead of some people ;) That's just how good I think this book is. Also, Derek :( And the Curran bits are getting interesting. Cool seeing a bit more of both Saiman and Jim.Thanking Sonia now for introducing many of us to this series!
I just started this morning. It's so nice being back in KateWorld. I hope we get to see some of the
I finished this the other day. What a great read! I especially liked the Epilogue. I was laughing out loud! Poor Derrick though. I felt so sorry for him.
I also like that we get a taste of different mythology with each story.
I really liked this one! I of course have loved all of them, but really enjoyed more Saiman. His(?) character is really intriguing to me. I also love pretty much everyone -- Derek, Julie, Jim, Kate, Curran, Andrea, Raphael... great cast, great books.Do we *HAVE* to wait until the beginning of December for the next one? :(
I finished few days ago, but was so immersed in Unwind dystology, that I forgot to post my final comment LOL.I loved this part, it was packed with balanced amount of action, plus I love that we found out more about Kate's past. The ideas of The Games was gripping. I cannot choose one favourite character, because all of them had some special characteristic that I loved and I hope to meet them in the next installments. And last but not least, I die to find out more about Kate and Curran's relationship!
Sonia wrote: "Steven, stop whining! You don't have space on your schedule..."Yes I do. I can shift some of the lesser stuff around for Kate, Harry, and Harper.
*sigh* you are killing me you know...
let's read some Dresden and some Harper and savor Kate one book at a time.
You two are hilarious. I personally am glad you guys aren't darting forward too far on the other two series. I can't keep up! :DKate Daniels #3 was just about amazing. If they just keep on getting better, I don't know how I'm going to handle that. Like everyone else, I love Derek, I love Julie, I love Curran. That epilogue was hilarious, wasn't it? And the Games were perfectly described, without being over described at any point, I thought.
Well, I offered to do a series buddy read for Vampire Academy (another re-read for me) to slow Steven down but he REFUSED to start another series ... *shudders at the blasphemy*
Hmm, I wonder why ;) You know, though, he won't be able to use that excuse by like January next year. Three series of his will be completed by then.
I know!*claps hands in glee*
I have to see which ones I'm tempting him with... let me see...
Vampire Academy because the movie will be out on February, Vampires and a kick-ass heroine.. hard to resist...
Iron Druid Chronicles because Atticus & Oberon *bliss* and I need a buddy read for that one...
OK, after Curran no shapeshifter can measure up... but I think he needs some Mercy, Adam, Sam, Charles & Anna in his life, don't you all agree? *giggles*
My wicked chip'n'dale can think of a few more...
