Same pace? (More reading, but same chapter amount [6 per day]?) Or change?

I have been looking forward to reading these books for a while, and I really wanted to love them.

Alyssia yeah its not 100% my style either. But it introduced so many things that can come into play that I'm excited for the rest.
Looks like I won't get this book until Tues evening. So I will be doing a little catch up!

Don't give up on it yet! I wasn't obsessed with it after the first book, although I did really enjoy it. I was more into after the second, although still not obsessed. It wasn't until the work of art was finished that I realized how special it truly was. I hope I've converted you by the end!

Yes Courtney I have. It took me a minute in the beginning to get into it but then it took off. I can't wait to start this one. So when are you guys starting?

Want to start tomorrow instead?
6 chapters a day, Tuesday til Monday?

Hmm, well, let's see.
The mayor. An interesting villain. Reading him is sorta rough, because he's so good at emotional abuse and control tactics, it's an uncomfortable flashback to my childhood.
I like that you can almost believe him, almost sympathize with him, even as you know that he's all about controlling people through fear and small rewards. He's trying to be father to the whole town - punisher and liberator.
When you expect cruelty, even unearned cruelty, not receiving it feels like a gift. You become thankful for even the most basic kindnesses.
I'm wondering if the life saved wasn't his.
I'm wondering a lot about the story with Prentisstown and Haven and how it keeps changing.
I like the idea of constructed truths - and the Noise is great for that ... I think the Noise is an excellent 'symbol' of human's own self-delusion and denial.
In this context, the end of the last book isn't quite as annoying.
I like thinking about the Noise as someone's version of reality - I think what's happening with Todd's fight to control the "real" story about Aaron is interesting. His Noise is hardwired to a lie now - it's instantaneous.
No wonder this planet is full of different stories.
I don't trust the healer one bit. It seems to me she's playing a game similar to the mayor's. Part of me expects them to be in league together.
In a planet full of noise, I suppose getting someone to answer your questions is both redundant and incredibly powerful.
The answer becomes a choice and a submission.
And it seems like such an easy thing to give up.
I feel very bad for the spackle. stupid humans.
alright, well, those are my thoughts. I haven't finished today's chapters and probably won't get through the rest until tomorrow. Wednesday is my busy day. Hopefully when I come back there will be some chatting.

Looking forward to hearing from you Courtney.
If you guys want to adjust speed, just let me know.
I am up for whatever.
I tend to read five or so books at a time, so it doesn't really affect me what speed we buddy read at.

So I have absolutely no clue why the Answer would (view spoiler) Maybe there's more to it than just what Viola is thinking. I hope at least that question is answered in tomorrow's reading.
I will do fine at this pace now that I have caught up. :-) Always flexible.
Also I just got book 3 yesterday, so its ready to go!

I don't know why... try again?
I have a question you have to answer, but other than that, it should work...

Maybe they aren't on the same side, but they certainly both play the same games - scare tactics, rumor and emotional manipulation.
I'm fairly disappointed in both Viola and Todd. I have to keep reminding myself of how young they are.
And even when you realize you're being manipulated, it's still a far cry from being able to do anything about it, I suppose.
I don't have too much to say about today's readings.
I'm finding the former Mayor very interesting. And Corrine.
For right now, they are my protagonists. Todd and Viola can try to earn their places back by not being stupid and/or boring.

glad you're enjoying yourself!
cheater :P

Ooh, I like that idea A LOT.

And of course, we know, cognitive dissonance-wise, banality of evil-wise, that these compromises are what lead people to throw themselves in whole-heartedly.
I haven't read yesterday's reading yet. I fell asleep and slept 11 hours. I'll catch up today.

The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness, the second book in the Chaos Walking dystopian series :)

So Friday is my birthday and I will be out of town for the weekend.
For me, starting Monsters of Men on Monday would be ideal.
Is that too late for everyone else?
Don't forget, there's a 2.5:

I typically don't read any .5's until after. When is everyone else going to fit it in?

Although maybe I shouldn't. The first .5 really colored the way I read book one.
