Byron182 | 8 comments Hi I'm looking for a new UF series with a male protagonist(non-vampire, non-werewolf, non-zombie) that is a magic user. I love the Harry Dresden, Iron Druid, Monster Hunter Inc, Nightside, Sandman Slim Series. I don't read books with female characters anymore (except the mercy thompson series) because I find it tiresome and annoying. I also Despise vampires. I like them cold, vicious, and ugly. Thanks

ladymurmur | 73 comments Simon Green's Nightside series
Anton Stout's Simon Canderous series
Mark Del Franky's Connor Grey books
Harry Connolly's Twenty Palaces
John Levitt's Dog Days books
Tad Williams' Dirty Streets of Heaven

Tasula | 150 comments there is a thread already with this theme altho I will be darned if I know where, here are some authors with male protagonists who are not vamp/were/zombie, but below that are authors of books with either both male/female or where the female is NOT clingy, sappy, whiny or too-stupid-to-live. I like my protagonists, whether male or female to have balls.

Fated
Bitter Seeds
Sandman Slim
Crooked Little Vein
Child of Fire
Hunter's Moon
The Devil You Know
Midnight Riot
Sixty-One Nails

books with male/female or non-whiny female leads:
Anno Dracula- hero is human, others vamps
Bloodshot
Blood Engines
The Rook
Daughter of the Sword

fabulous UF where the lead is not human:

Already Dead - bloodthirsty vamps, noir
The Last Werewolf- bloodthirsty werewolves AND werewolf hunters
Raising Stony Mayhall- zombie-

Let me know if this was helpful.

Byron182 | 8 comments @Tasula. Thanks for reminding me to get Sixty-One Nails by Shevdon. I forgot about that.

@ladymurmur. I already read those books. I liked especially the Child of Fire by Connelly. It was a new concept for me where the hero wasn't the guy with the biggest guns magically wise.
