Completely that! This is the second time I've read it and I'm just enjoying the story and worrying less about figuring out all the puzzles.

1/4 of The Scorch Trials - (view spoiler)[This started out just like The Maze Runner - a ton of action with little explanation behind it. In other books this could be a negative but Dashner really makes it work and it makes for highly intriguing reading. (hide spoiler)]

2/4 of The Scorch Trials - (view spoiler)[This is actually brutal. First the gang encounter rotting bodies hung from the ceiling, and then they encounter the possibility of metallic balls falling from the ceiling, enshrouding their skulls, and then beheading them! Dark shit! (hide spoiler)]

3/4 of The Scorch Trials - (view spoiler)[The scene where Thomas and Brenda are hiding from the cranks below the city is legit terrifying! I hate scenes that occur in the dark... especially when they have crazed individuals crying out for their 'pretty noses'. (hide spoiler)]

4/4 of The Scorch Trials - (view spoiler)[I really enjoyed the inclusion of the female gladers and noting the many differences and similarities between their experiences. The world beyond the maze is no utopia but the trials they are forced to continually enact are brutal, even if they may mean the salvation of the human race. (hide spoiler)]

4/4 of The Death Cure - (view spoiler)[I love how tis book returns us to the maze. The ending is so, so clever. The epilogue alters everything the reader thinks they know, throughout the entire book! WICKED really is a devious beast and not one single scene can be trusted at delivering the truth. Ending on this moment makes for a really impactful conclusion. (hide spoiler)]

Finished (view spoiler)[ That ending has me really conflicted. Basically, they never do anything they really set out to do (except get away from WICKED). They create their own community of people who are immune and then WICKED had really planned for that to happen the whole time. It's just... I don't really know what to say about that honestly. In one way it's interesting because that isn't something that really seems to happen in YA books a lot, but at the same time it kinda feels like all the books were for not because nothing was really accomplished? They were still pawns for WICKED and such? IDK. But, I didn't enjoy that one a bit more than the second one. (hide spoiler)]

2/4 of The Fever Code: (view spoiler)[The trials run on the teenagers in The Maze Runner is obviously horrific but the younger age of the characters here really drives home just how horrible an organisation WICKED truly is. These kids have been nothing but test subjects for so long! And yet, all they are doing is necessary for saving the human race. (hide spoiler)]

3/4 of The Fever Code: (view spoiler)[It makes it more poignantly sad to read this prequel after the events in the central trilogy. Despite the sadness of their situation currently, everything is about to become even more sorrowful for them. Little Newt is breaking my heart! (hide spoiler)]

4/4 of The Fever Code: (view spoiler)[I love how this book closed on the open of another. It answers all the questions The Maze Runner leaves the reader with whilst also adding an abundance of emotions to the proceedings there. It is such a necessary addition to the series. (hide spoiler)]

2/4 of The Kill Order: (view spoiler)[Little DeeDee's character drives home the abundant sorrows. Just to survive, viewing all the horrors and living with all the grief and loss, kills any innocence left in the world. (hide spoiler)]

3/4 of The Kill Order: (view spoiler)[No matter how appalling the events that befall the earth are, what humans can inflict is always so much worse. (hide spoiler)]

4/4 of The Kill Order: (view spoiler)[Reading reviews of this and many seem to be really disappointed by how few answers this instalment provides. That's something I really like about the series. It really keeps me intrigued and constantly guessing. It's actually kinda refreshing to know as little as the characters do and to find out everything, together. (hide spoiler)]
