Buddy Read Requests
Wonderful idea! I so wish I had more time to devote to reading, I would love to do a buddy read.
Anna, post a book that you are thinking of reading soon and a date that you want to start.

Ok, it sounds like a lot of people are interested in doing buddy reads, but might not know how to start one. So, I'll make a suggestion first. I'm planning to read Doctor Sleep
by Stephen King this month. Would anyone like to read it with me? I'm hoping to have a start date in October. What would work for you?(Anyone can suggest different books and dates. If anyone else is interested, they can agree to read with you. If two or more people want to read the same book and agree on a date, then a thread can be set up.)

I enjoyed it, good character follow up, nothing to freaky .thought it was gentle for King in my opinion, I struggled through the beginning but when I read King this is normal. hope you like it.
I have it sitting on my nightstand waiting to be read, so I'm ready any time. What date works for you?

A two friends of mine wanted to do a buddy read but we did not know how. I do not know how many people you can have, because then where does it go from being the BOTM discussion to Buddy Read? But I, am going to get past my 7% mark in Doctor Sleep so I would be happy to Buddy Read and talk about it. So either message me or post here I should get it.

Stirring my memories of when I watched the film five years ago. Glad my memory of it isn't crystal clear. How are you finding it so far?
I'm on page 100 or something of The Shining. And after I've read that, I'll continue with Doctor Sleep :) I want to buddy read with you guys :)

We just need to pick a date and I'll set a thread for Doctor Sleep. Does anyone have a date preference? I know some of you are reading The Shining now. How much time do you need? Also, the Shining book is very different from the movie, so even if you do remember a lot you'll still be surprised. :)

Hi Molly Dee - Any number of people can join a buddy read. Basically, you just suggest a book and a date. If even one other person wants to read it with you, you can set it up. :)
I set up a thread for the buddy read of Doctor Sleep here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...I set a start date of 10/31/13 so that anyone reading The Shining that would like to join will have a chance. Please feel free to join the read at any time. Also, please use spoilers as needed so you don't spoil anything for anyone joining the read a little later.

Hi Dawn! I started a thread with a start date of Oct 31st because a bunch of people are reading The Shining first, but feel free to start whenever you want. We will just make sure to use spoilers. I have already started, but I'm a fairly slow reader. I'd love to discuss it with you. :)

This folder is for buddy reads!! The way this works is that if someone wants to read a book that is not chosen for BOTM, you suggest it in this thread. Then, if other members want to read with you they can agree to a buddy read. You choose a date, start a new thread in the Buddy Reads folder for the book and discuss! Make sure you add the title of your book and a date to your thread so others that want to join the discussion know when you're reading.
