Finished God's Bits of Wood by Ousmane Sembene of Senegal (west Africa). It was particularly interesting to me because it's a novel about a railroad workers' strike in Senegal, and my father and grandfather were union representatives. I think many people would like it, well-written.

A double-week for me with now Good Morning, Midnight by Jean Rhys (Brit). Four star read for me. Somewhat grim, but that's what I seem to like ;) Short, which I also tend to like.

I got my copy today...I've been told it has the highest Goodreads average rating (at 4.65) of any book in the Boxall list. It's in the later editions. And it's short!

I really liked it. I loved the author's use of the hare as catalyst for action and as partner in Vatanen's adventures, as well as comic relief. It was a lot of fun.

A Ballad for Georg Henig by Victor Paskov of Bulgaria. Five stars from me. Short and sweet (but not too sweet). Not very readily available in English, at least in the US.

I know. There are two versions - Swedish and English. I was watching the English version with Kenneth Branagh as Inspector Wallander. There are some differences between the book and the series. I prefer book.
