This book was about a boy who was convinced he was supposed to be Icarus and that he should be able to fly. He tries to fly several times by making wings for himself out of different materials and jumping off of high places. Everyone around him thought he was stupid for thinking that. He had a workshop where he built things. He had a brother I think. I think spent a lot of time in the Attic of his house.

Read it in the last 5-8 years... was probably published around then. Was fiction.
