Twilight vs. Buffy -- who wins?
Twilight seems to make Vampires as forever-loving romatic creatures. They aren't like that. It drives me nuts when people put the love swing to something like Vampires. And in Twilight the Vampires glissen in the sunlight? WTF??? Why does Stephenie Meyer think she can re-write the Vampire folk-lore?
@ Kelsey - Agreed - Twilight is truly bad literature. I couldn't get past the first few pages of the book because the writing was horrible! I don't know about the plot but I have no interest in seeing the movies either.Joss' work is original, witty and intense. He is a master of his craft. Apologies, but Stephanie Meyer is a bored housewife who is basically writing an explicit teen soap opera to jazz up her own boring life. It takes the intelligence of a sock to read and follow her books.
Joss' work requires a bit more brain power than that -it has actual character development, plot, dramatic elements, is well thought out . . .
There is simply no comparison and I feel sorry for anyone wrapped up in Twilight when such better literature and television media is available.
yes i actually read the whole series because i was hoping they would get better they didn't though and now all the teens watch buffy and go he is ruining Vampire myths
What a strange question...Heheheh...truly, there is no contest. Even though we seem to be comparing a book to a tv show (unless you consider the movie, which I have not seen, but have heard from many sources that it is horrible). I read Twilight, and, while I would not say that it is the worst book I have ever read, I did not and will not read the rest of them. Twilight is not very good writing. It's not horrible, but it's far from great. Plus, being a 51 year old man, I'm far from the target audience for this series, which is obviously pre-teen girls. Or maybe just barely teen girls. I have a t-shirt that says, "...and then Buffy staked Edward. The End." I also found a Facebook Flair button that says, "William the Bloody Versus Edward the Sparkly. I think you know who'll win."
yeah i am a teen and i read that book and thought that was the worst book ever but i descided to see if they get better... i was wrong about twilight being the worst book it was definetly the last book Breaking Dawn

I was not impressed with the first book but decided to read the second which I liked and the third was not bad but I really did not care all that much for the 4th book.
Buffy is much better than "Twilight". "Twilight" will fade but "Buffy' will be considered a cult classic for generations to come.

I like the book Twilight better, but as far as T.V. goes, Buffy's better because, well, I hate to admit it, but the movie sucked. It wasn't very well made, but I still like Edward :)
I think people like Twilight, though, just because of Edward because, seriously, what girl doesn't want a Mr. Perfect like Edward. Plus you kind of have to give the author a break for at least trying to make the vampires different because if they were too much like the Buffy Vampires, which kind of portray the common vampire (burning in sunlight, stake and crossbow, etc.), it would be just WAY to clich'e. You also have to be a little open-minded to this book because if your into vampire books and t.v., you kind of get this picture into your mind of vampires and it's hard to change it. I personally read Twilight before I saw Buffy, but I didn't really care if they were different vampires.
And yah. I love Twilight, but I didn't like Breaking Dawn all that much because I think Renesme kind of ruined it. Don't cha think? Plus it moved a little too quickly.
I think most people hate Twilight because, like my friend Liz, they think it's getting too much popularity. It kind of is, but in a good way because the birth of Twilight ment a comeback for vampires! Seriously, havn't you noticed more and more vampire books and T.V. shows since Twilight?...
But I think we ALL can agree that Twilight was better than the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. Ugh! I mean, it had its funny moments, but it was just too cheesy looking. And Buffy and her friends "preppy california surfer girls" attitude and speech was just omigod kill me! "Oh my gawd should we go see, like, a movie, like ya?" "Okay, like, yaw" "Like, AMC?" "Ugh (eyeroll) bogus corn" "Lets just go to the one at the like, mall" "Ya. Omigawd okay!" -_-.....

Of course Buffy!!!!!! Twilight's a really really bad book. Everyone says Twilight is way better than anything ever written, but really it's not. The whole Twilight thing is just like a faze. People will get over it eventually. But Buffy is entirely unique and different than all those badly written vampire love stories. They're a billion of those, but no one can recreate Buffy.And Twilight ruined all those vampire stuff. I mean, seriously. The vampires sparkle in sunlight. What happened to 'catch on fire if sunlight touches you' and stuff. And the whole way to kill a vampire in Twilight was just =P Beheading and sunlight and stakes: Much cooler.

Wow, that was VERY well done! On the subject of Buffy v. Twilight, though, why do I have to choose between them? I like them both. I did have a few problems with the Twilight books and they really aren't up the to caliber of Buffy, but I still enjoyed reading them. The sparkly in the sun was a bit cheesy - and I didn't like it at all in the movie - but overall I thought they were worth reading.

I'm 1/2 way through the book and I have to admitt, I like it. Not her take on Vampires at all. If they can go out into the sun, and yes shimmer, then why are they so white? just so they appear as Vamps? doesn't make sence. I like it because I can relate to Bella when I was in HS

Yes, it's stupid. I much prefer my origin story for vampires. It gives a reason why vamps and sun don't mix.

I just started season 3 of Angel. OH MY GOD!!!! Twilight totally copied it. It's like Stephanie Meyer can't get any ideas except from other books and stuff. She like pulled together a book from taking parts of Buffy, Angel, and a bunch of bad vampire books and mushing them together.

We used Netflix, but then we realized it's cheaper to just buy them 'cause we kept the disks for so long, so now we just buy them =D We only own seasons 3 and 4 of Angel, but it's better than nothing. I watch Buffy on Hulu, or at least the 1st 3 seasons, but I really want to get those, too.

Yeah, we used to, until our friend started watching them w/ us, so we had to keep them for her, too, so we ended up taking about 3 months to finish a season. Now we own them =D and we get to watch a gazillion episodes in a row =DIt used to take a month to finish a season, and Netflix is like 25$ a month so if we had just bought it on Amazon, it would've been cheaper... It's only around $15 for a new slim set. Plus you get to watch all the special features after you finish the season so it doesn't spoil stuff =D
But what's the appeal of Twilight? And is the vampire in that movie (and book series) cooler than Angel? Or Spike? Is the protagonist in Twilight better than Buffy, or any character in the Buffy series?
Please explain to me why Twilight is such a hit. Then tell me you've been able to turn your Twilight-smitten friends on to Buffy when they tell you how much they like vampires.
