Anyone up for reading this one with me? Is The 22nd/23rd too soon?
I honestly can't fit any more books in this month. Could we have it be the 1 or 2 of November?
I'm planning to read this, but not until the middle or end of November. I'm booked for October and still need to read Insurgent. If you guys read it earlier, I may join the conversation a bit later.

I'm in a similar situation, I will read it in November, there is no chance for me to squeeze it this month, although the copy will be waiting on my Kindle :)
Okay guys, We're moving this one to November. When is best? Beginning, Middle or End?Buddy Reads for November:
November 04 - The Orphan Master's Son
November 10 - The Graveyard Book
November BOMs tentatively look to be:
November 2nd - The Universe Versus Alex Woods
November 12th - The Golem and the Jinni
November 22nd - Kiss Me First
So maybe 15th or 18th as there seems to be a nice slot to insert Allegiant between 12th and 22nd...
The Golem and the Jinni is approximately 500 pages. So it will be tight.
So my only other idea is after 22nd :)
What other books is everyone planning to read, if any?

Not much longer now! I'd almost forgotten about this, so I figured a new post to put it back into people's minds wouldn't go amiss ;)
I have this on hold at the library and I will be joining in if I get the book in time.

Allegiant is getting some really really bad reviews - a lot of disappointment. Hey - don't kill the messenger. I am gonna sit this one out, but will be interested to see what ya'll think.

Yes Karen but (view spoiler) is just simply bad writing, in my opinion. Now I haven't read it - but I already know I will be agreeing with these issues people are having. For me in this series the first two books really led up to and depended on the third and final book - so to not deliver - especially when making sooo much money and getting the best book award for Goodreads - it is a huge disappointment. I am still curious to think what others think when they are done.

As far as the GRCA are concerned, I don't put much weight to it. The books that are "selected" for voting are based on general popularity and I think many people vote based on a writer they like rather than having read the book. I noticed this with this year's suggested nominees and was pretty disappointed actually.
I'm actually more curious about this book now that I see there are bad reviews (though I refuse to read them and be swayed). I just started this yesterday and can't wait to participate in the group read.
I just finished it, and I will say this:I can understand people's frustrations with the book. I had my own. But that doesn't mean that the book was bad. I really enjoyed the story as a whole, all three books and the short stories (of which we have more to come), and I feel she provided closure that a lot of authors don't.
I look forward to reading more works by Mrs. Roth. She is a very talented writer.
While there is a very large event that has irritated people, I think my biggest issue was the present tense writing. I don't remember the first two being written that way. X) Maybe they were though!

I like how the author slowly built up this world through the books and it is all revealed to us in this last installment, and perhaps for some readers that was confusing or frustrating, but it was also that for the characters and I felt like I was taking the journey with them. There were a few moral storylines thrown in, and no dull patches. I am keen to see how the film adaptations are done and received.

I liked it too, Karen. Glad I'm not the only one. Superb series overall.

I am glad you girls liked it - I steared clear because of the reviews, for writing reasons though and not for the ending reason, but these are also the types of books I am fine with watching in the movies format and I am happy with that. Divergent comes out on my birthday;-)

Karen, Steven, I totally agree with your view about the ending. There was no other was to end the story and make it at least believable. Still, I can understand the frustration of some readers.I also found this book less hectic and violent, more into the characters' building, which I liked.
All in all, I think it was a good wind up for the whole series.

Sure. ;) I started listening to this book 4 years ago but had to return the audioook to my library after getting nearly 50 pages in. Despite having the physical book, for whatever reason, I didn't pick up the book since then. Guess it's about time to complete the trilogy. I'll need to remind myself what happened in the first 2 books but will likely turn to the movies to remind me faster than re-reading. :P
