The last book I bought was...

I think you mean Kate Daniels. ;-)
Last night was an author event for Jennifer A. Nielsen at the library. It turns out she lives just a couple hours north from me. I bought and got signed The False Prince trilogy (I listened to the audiobooks I'd checked out from the library) and Mark of the Thief and Rise of the Wolf.
Luckily I brought my teenage daughter with me, so I didn't show up alone as a scary middle-aged woman at a kids' event. Nielsen said her favorite book growing up was The Wolves of Willoughby Chase, which I had read growing up after my mom read it as a kid. I was surprised because nobody has heard of this book, so it was a bonding experience.

yup, see how confusing it is :)

I love the Discworld books, the ones with the witches are my favourite :-) Definite bargain for a dollar!
I haven't even started Joe Abercrombie's First Law series yet but I found Best Served Cold for $1 and picked it up anyway. One day, one....day....

So many books, so little time!

I spent the day at an annual local writers event the library does. I bought Benotripia: The Complete Trilogy (mostly for the kids -- the author is 16 and first got published at age 7) and Shatter. Then I won Flight and Child of the Wilde in a drawing, and I got them all signed. I just love signed books.

I haven't heard of a 7-year-old getting published but Celyn Lawrence (daughter of author Mark Lawrence), at age 8, wrote Wheel-Mouse vs All The Crazy Robots. Dad helped with the drawings. (Proceeds go to Children's Hospice Charity for terminally ill and life-limited children.) Getting published at any age is quite an accomplishment but some extra kudos for these very young authors.

It was a little book, and then she wrote this trilogy in middle school and another one since. I think luck is part of it, but it's still impressive.

I think I said this in another thread, I am lucky that I have the week off next week so I will have time to get a large part of it read after I have finished my current book

Ditto.
Picked up a few from the thrift store:
The City of Ember
Little Town on the Prairie (only one of the series I didn't have)
Guards! Guards!
Wyrd Sisters
Total $5.50

I really enjoyed the other two Anno Dracula books I have read this year and Newman's short story collection.

Hope to read that series one day - just need to get my TBR down a little before I obtain any more books!
I bought Fatal Green directly from the author. It’s the final book of a trilogy published by a small press that just went under.
(It was cheaper than buying from Amazon, and he spent half the cost just mailing it to us. I first mailed him the second book so he could also sign it, so now we have the whole trilogy signed.)
It’s such a good series! Paranormal horror but YA so not disturbingly twisted.

Yes, Way of Kings. God help me.
I was tempted by Twelve Kings in Sharakhai but the font was tiny!
Found a couple of dollar store gems: Chimera (I own the first book of the trilogy but haven't read it yet) and Beyond Redemption. Each were $1.00.
At the library book sale I got Warm Bodies and then Remembrandt and Van Gogh Gone, both by a local author I’ve met a few times. They were 50 cents each.
The Brian McClellan/Tyler Whitesides book signing is this week, and I don’t see how I’ll be able to restrain myself from paying full retail then.

Recent book purchases have been ones I've immediately read:
The Enchantment Emporium - good read with some amusing moments
A Skinful of Shadows - a historical fantasy (set in English Civil War period)
Adventures of a Young Naturalist: The Zoo Quest Expeditions - part of my wish to start reading some books by Sir Dave
Also in the post today (got to make that Amazon order up), got a decent second hand copy of The City Who Fought. I always forget just how much I love Anne McCaffrey's writing style

I got over 100 books for £80. The shop has a huge FSF section. I could've got more, but...next time I'll take a shopping trolley so I don't have to carry so much!

Wow, that's quite a haul.

Jaw drops. Did you buy a bookcase to put them all on?

Not yet, they're still mostly covering half my dining table! I do have plans to put a bookcase on the landing in my house, but as we're still decorating after the move earlier this year, it might be a while!
Oh my goodness!! That is a pretty epic haul! Especially when you think that for £80 full price you might only get about 8-12 books normally.
I was in The Works yesterday and they were selling off a bit of stock, so I got a shiny new copy of Wildcards: High Stakes for £1

Holy moley! That's practically a library! How did you get them all home? I can't imagine even carrying those to the car, must have taken a few trips. Looks like a great selection though and should keep you going for a while. Great value too, even second hand it's getting more difficult to pick up books for less than a couple of quid each.
My copy of Age of War arrived. It is beautiful. I think there were some minor changes since I read it.

I treated it as a challenge, I carried them to the end of the high-street and called a cab home from there. They weren't that heavy, really, but I have been lifting weights every day for the past few weeks trying to get in shape!
The man in the bookshop was very nice, and told me that if I found any duplicates in the stack when I got home and compared it to my collection then I could come back and swap them. Lovely man. I ended up returning 3 books and coming home with 12 more!

There were several Sullivan books in the epic haul I brought home. I've never read any of his books, and I'm looking forward to starting them :)

So I've just looked at the stack and it turns out that I only have Theft of Swords, I thought I'd got more of his in the haul. To the bookshop! cue heroic sequence
