Review: This was just one of those books you sit down to start then *whoosh* what the hell time is it? And yet is very hard to review because you just don't have the right words to convey how very much you enjoyed the read. And even harder to review without outright spoilers.
I am a fan of this series and of the author (a bit less so her previous books because went a bit too much into crime drama/mystery or soccer mom territory for my tastes).
Not one complaint about this book is currently coming to mind other than opening being a bit surprising. Because it opens with Charles going to see his very best friend of all time. A friend reader is only finding out about three books into the series but that Charles has known for almost a century (and outside of his immediate family, wife Anna and foster sister Mercy Thompson apparently his only friend at that).
Then it was just nonstop stuff happening (where I would spoiler tag paragraph after paragraph to detail), action and personal stuff happening/developing. Including a re-emergence of fae activities/politics and the issue of what stand the Marok and the werewolves would take if fae and humans came to outright war. Neutrality? With the humans? With the fae?
This was a complete story, no cliffhangers and not that dependent on previous books other than readers skipping are not likely to "know" the main characters well enough. But clearly there is more to follow with the fae and other elements of the characters and the storyline.
I really loved the book but I really don't know what to say.

I enjoyed this book very much, as well.
Unfortunately, no reading time for me today because of RL things, I'll be able to continue reading my book by Wednesday :(

Book:Queen of the Darkness by Anne Bishop
Finished: 7/19/15
Rating:★★★★☆
I had a bit of a rough start with this one and put it aside for a few days. This is not a book that is easily read/listened to with constant interruptions. It does require concentration because of the many names and places that are so close to each other. A person could get lost and confused pretty easy. Kind of like Algebra!
There is no doubt that Anne Bishop is a master storyteller. She creates such vivid characters and fantasy worlds that are easily imagined. They are very much like our world and yet vastly different. A tug here and a tug in another direction and...Voila!
(view spoiler)
I really enjoyed this series. Too many favorite characters to name! This last book had a lot more humor than the first 2 and that was a pleasant surprise. Don't get me wrong, when Witch comes out to play it's serious business. She's creepy and scary and it's so cool!! I listened to the audios for all 3 books and they are very well done. However, I needed a glossary to keep things straight. Next time, and yes there will be a next time, I will definitely read them because I'm sure I missed a plenty.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Well, the big baddie in this one was extra creepy -- preyed on children. So don't know if "favorite" is word I'd use.
But, definitely a good book. And definitely series is headed into more fae stuff.

Book: Entreat Me by Grace Draven
Finished: 7/20/15
Rating: 3.5 stars
First of all, this was much longer than I had anticipated. GR shows the kindle version has 323 pages and I kept wondering why I wasn't further along! It's actually 453 pages and took me a little longer to read. Luckily, I enjoyed the book and it wasn't so bad :)
Of all the Fairy Tale retellings, I seem to gravitate towards Beauty and the Beast most. Entreat me has a bit of magic, blood thirsty roses, a crotchety sorcerer and sharp-tongued love interest. Although this is set in a time of castles and Lords and Ladies, it didn't really read that way. The dialogue was too modern for it. I found it odd at first but it worked.
I enjoyed all of the characters but Louvaen really shined. She was straight forward, quick witted, and a force to be reckoned with. I also really liked the slow build up romance between Ballard and Louvaen. They were very sweet together. There is also quite a bit of humor which is always fun. All in all, I really enjoyed it.

Glad you enjoyed it. Grace Draven was one of the first authors I read when I started reading ebooks, oh so long ago now :)

I picked up

We are road tripping this weekend to Iowa so I'm hoping to get some reading done in the car. Just didn't want you guys to think I've forgotten about this :)

Read a book that features: 'blood' in title, series name, on the cover or a book featuring vampires

By Rebecca Zanetti
Vampires in the book and I have it in ebook format - yay!!

Book:

I'm assuming there will be vampires in this... there are in the others. If not, well I'll pick something else up, lol. I need the E's for a spell out :)

Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews

Review: Very enjoyable, with great narration, as always, by Renée Raudman. Plenty of action, many twists and surprises, Kate's humor we love and a great epilogue. I missed Curran during the first half though. I don't know what to expect from the next book but I won't have to wait long, just 12 days!

So, I just finished

Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead
Date finished: 7/24/2015
Rating: ★★★
Review: Sidney is still a captive by the Alchemists, who try to brainwash her, while Adrien gets depressed and starts drinking and partying till he sees the light and try to find Sidney. They escape from the Alchemists and are on the run.I was disappointed by Adrien in this installment. The book dragged but took off on the last 20%. It ends with a cliffhanger and the next book is the final. I'm not sure whether I'm going to read it. Maybe.

Doesn't sound like a cliffhanger to make you just have to buy the next book worked very well on you, LOL.

Thanks - should be fun. Headed to Iowa city to visit our niece :)

Book: Demon from the Dark by Kresley Cole
Finished: 7/25/15
Rating:★★★★☆
Like most of her immortals, Malcolm was dealt a real crappy hand in life. As a boy, his mother sold him to a vampire with a preference for children. He was used in the most horrid way until he got too old for the nasty vamp and then tossed aside.
Years later, Malcolm is captured by a vampire and forced into a new existence, that of a Vemon. Now an outcast and abomination, he lives his life in solitude and killing anything that threatens his survival. Until the day a green-eyed beauty makes his heart beat...
Carrow is living the life until she's abducted by a human intent on destroying immortals. Suddenly she becomes the guardian of a little girl and is forced to betray a Vemon, who happens to be her mate. After a rocky start and a language barrier between them, she develops feelings for her Vemon. Lust, I mean love, is a universal language! She just has to figure out a way to keep her Vemon and get Ruby back before it's too late.
My heart went out to Malcolm, Carrow and little Ruby. They were put into difficult situations and they each got hurt by them. In the end though, they found a family with each other. I especially loved Malcolm with Ruby, it was so darned cute and sweet! Another great book in the IAD series, and as usual Robert Petkoff really brings these characters to life. One book closer to THE book. You know, that one I've been looking forward to since HE was introduced in the series.

Review: I've been hearing about this book for a while now and bought it a while back. Was glad it worked for this as well as my other team challenge I'm on. This is a Cinderella re-telling with a cyborg twist. I liked it but didn't love love it. Cinder was adopted and then her adoptive father died. New stepmother is just as much of a treat as the original version - yeah - she's a right bitch. Story has a rather slow build up and then the last few chapters were really good. I'm hoping the next in the series won't have a lot of world building and will just be story.

A BLOODY MESS Space
Hex Appeal by Linda Wisdom
Finished: July 28, 2015
Series: Hex #2
Rating: ★½☆☆☆
Number of pages: 370
Review:I've decided I like the premise for this series of books more than I actually like reading them. This one has been choppy and all over the place. Story did not flow well at all. Like some cyborg'ed up parts. A very teeny tiny bit of interesting (meager references to her and her witch classmates' banishment and the respective ruling councils, small bit of bunny slipper action). Only one mention of "labia" (a pet peeve I had with first book in series just because it was just jarring and over-used).
I had to stop updating reading progresses on this one because as soon as I left off to update I had trouble going back to it. It's not bad in the meaning of badly written. It just failed to keep my interest and jumped around way too much. I'm not sure I'll continue the series. I'm not sure I would have finished it if hadn't been for BINGO challenge. The worldbuilding and some of the characters have potential; I'm just not enjoying reading it.
