Diane I'm reading Cut & Run: I am 20% in, the story so far suffers from crappy writing and boring dialogue. Its very slow. Plus, I am pretty sure FBI don't call each other "special agent this " special agent that.....

I am awfully tempted to deleted now.

Can someone assure me that the story gets better, that the writing improves soon?

Dana Definitely keep reading, this series only gets better and better!!

Cheryl This book does not improve. I hear the sequel gets a little better with the next book, but this particular book is no better at 90% than at 20%. Probably a little worse since things like bad dialogue and poor writing have a cumulative effect.

Diane Thanks Dana, and Cheryl, I am shelving it for now, maybe a couple month I'll give it another try. I am a hopeful person.

I can't believe how highly rated it is, and its on so may "best of" lists.

I kept on thinking maybe I got the wrong version of the book, that there is a "good" version out there that makes so many people like it.

Dana It's been awhile since I've read the first book but I can tell you that the whole series is great

Dee it def. suffers from first book syndrome...but that being said, it depends on the situation re: calling each other special agents...I used to work for a federal law enforcement agency, and they would often, if it was a formal situation, (or if you worked for a jackass who was all about seniority)

Diane Hi Dee, wow, I guess having the right to call each other special agents is part of the perk of being an FBI.

K I've read the first three books so far, and the writing does get better. However, the first book does have the best plot out of the first three. I'm reading for the progression of their relationship, and I love the uphill climb. It's refreshing that it isn't instant love and happiness.

Ann32 The writing gets better but not that much. The whole point of the series is liking Ty and Zane. If you don't like them by the end of book 1, consider yourself as different from the others who did. It's that simple.

B.L. Jones I loved the series. You really have to be able to read between the lines and not take anything at face value with Ty and Zane. They're not really like any other m/m couple i've ever read about. They're basically two mindfucks, but i love them. But i guess it depends on if you like difficult characters with a lot of different layers or not. They aren't lovey dovey and it takes them a long time to get to a place where they are comfortable with acting like an in love couple, i liked that about them as most m/m is either too fluffy or no connection at all. x

Moloch Go on, the others are enjoyable ("Divide & Conquer" not so much) although not great (the mystery plotline is always quite thin) but don't bother with "Stars & Stripes" (book 5 if I remember correctly): it's awful, I've stopped after that because frankly there was nothing left to say about these characters IMO.

Sofia Like you I was not able to finish the first. Did not like the writing and was unable to connect with the characters. I do not think that I will give the series a try as I've got lots of other books to try out.

B.L. Jones It's one of those books where if you don't connect with the characters then you won't like it. I did connect with them, therefore i love the series. It's a series for complicated minfuckey characters that are never simple or predictable. I haven't found another series like it. There are things that people might not like, they drive me mental sometimes, but again that really does depend of your ability to read between the lines, because they actually have a hell of a lot of depth. x A book a lot like this series with characters who aren't as frustrating is Catch a Ghost (Hell or High Water, #1) by S.E. Jakes x

Rinibeans You've probably settled on your decision to read it or shelve it, but I'm just going to chime in.

I'm about 45% through and had to shelve it. It just didn't do anything for me. I don't know where people are finding this supposed "complexity" because the characters are about as "complex" as your standard "guy hates guy, guy bangs guy" fanfic (in fact, there's far better fanfiction with stronger writing and believable characters for free online). And the adverbs...oohhh, the flurry of adverbs that trip you up every five words or so.

I guess if you like hot guys whose author browbeats you to death that they haaaaaaaaaaaaate each other then... more power to you!

Sherry Hughes They don't hate each other for long. They can be frustrating but this is the best series I've read ever. I cannot wait for the 8th book to release as well as the Sidewinder spin offs. This series won several awards this year and I'm not surprised by that at all.

MaryAnne I love the chemistry between Zane and Ty, but I could do without the endless cases that frankly aren't that interesting. Still stuck in the 3rd book because of that

Yeah, the truth is you've really got to connect with Zane and Ty, they're amazing characters to read about. The plots of the books aren't so bad, but it's the relationship between Ty and Zane that keeps you hooked. Just push through it, trust me, you'll want to read the rest of the books xxx

I've only read 5 books, but the 3rd is my favorite so far (followed closely by book 5). Mainly because the sex was so hot. It really helped Ty get used to bottoming. Lol I do agree about the useless cases tho. They're never wrapped up in a satisfying way. Frustrating.

Same here. Slogged through the first book, because I connected with Zane and Ty. Flew through the second book but I've been sitting on 3. Think I'm giving up on these two. I can't just like the idea of these two characters. It's got to be more than that.

I was searching on YouTube for a Zane & Ty fan clip that got me excited about the book again. I actually finished book 3. It gets better, I promise :) Their relationship, anyway

Gigit Keep Reading!!!! I felt like that at first and now I am waiting for the next installment. its a beautiful story and its make you laugh smile, cry and angry but in the end I am happy I continue the series

Thats why I read it. And I finished it because i kept telling myself ok it has to get better for these ratings but i never felt it. It was too slow for me and I felt like it was a tennis match just back and forth. I finished it and it was not horrible I have read worse but I did expect more from the ratings and reviews. I have not got the second book dont know if I can do more.

MaryAnne I'm just gonna say, I'm glad I continued reading. I'm at the end of the 7th book & I'm so bummed that I have only one book to go before it's over. Trust me, even if you want to quit, you WILL WANT to read Touch & Geaux. Downright scandalous!
