I am not, however totally leaving GR. Too many friends in groups and I want to keep my books here too.

On selective cross-post mode.
I can't stay too long on that site for now. The wrong covers and my imported unformatted reviews drive my obsessive compulsiveness into hyperdrive and I end up not accomplishing anything but reformatting old reviews (it HAS happened O.O).
I hope they sort themselves out soon.

Still importing which takes forever.
and at libraryThing I am http://librarything.com/profie/chrissie3
I am still at GR too
Could somebody explain to me how I can get to the place where it is possible to write a review at Booklikes.
BTW, once you have started your import it is not necessary to even have your computer on let alone the tabs open!

Nope, a mod can move a tread to a different folder, but not merge two treads into one. At least I haven't figured out how (I'm a mod in a different group).

I'm not closing shop here yet, but I can see the writing on the wall and like to be prepared.
Am still very amused that Otis has an account there as well...

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with the blog and the spoiler issue really threw me.

I'm not transferring, just a backup will be nice. The Booklikes page is pretty though, but so complicated! :D

I am gonna go try what you said. So you don't write the review by first searching for the book title?
Susanna what is your name over there at Booklikes?
And thanks!

I don't plan on leaving GR but like having an option via booklikes. It will be my backup. :D

ETA: I've written reviews adding the book first, and adding the title first; both seemed to work.
And there's a button at the right to click to indicate it's a review, which will let you give a star rating.

Still importing. It takes days.

Following you :)

From what I see, you gave it 2 stars.

Not fully leaving GR because I have friends and groups here, but I might be merging most of my review time over there in the future if I end up liking the site.
(a helpdesk topic in this group might not be a bad idea for those who are getting stuck on some of the coding and blogging issues)

I'm not quitting goodreads yet, because of being a mod and friends and the like, but really, when I looked at GR's policy, it's pretty draconian if they want to enforce it. Its only a matter of time before they ban cursing and gifs, especially to make it kindle-paperwhite friendly.

I completely understand, Ash! I'm the same way. And the import dredged up some of my first reviews, so now I want to fix those as well.
I've moved everything over there and am trying to play around and customize. FYI, once you click on 'import' and upload your .csv from Goodreads, it uploads instantly from the computer, the time delay is just internal. So you don't have to worry if your internet connection is spotty.

Question: Is it possible to import books from Goodreads WITHOUT stripping yourself of all your books and shelves in Goodreads?
I've been with Goodreads for the past 3 years and I don't want to have to lose everything I have there.

For the record, I don't expect the GR people to change their minds. But I don't think that means we should stop fighting and nagging.

Absolutely. You export to your desktop and then import it to booklikes. Gr stays the same. It's actually a smart move even if you stay at GR for a backup.

BUT: The help staff is just amazing. They react immediately and are so eager to help. I asked about "groups" - my new BFF from helpdesk told me, they are working on such a feature.
I moved my stuff over there and will start using it more and more - I like the options there - posting vids or pictures is much easier.
I am very afraid that this policy change is just the beginning and I want a place where the work and love we put in our posts is really for us readers and not about selling us the crap that makes Amazon the most money.
Sorry for the rant!
I am at http://tami.booklikes.com

I still have a lot of figuring out to do over there, so different, I not leaving GR, but like having a second option and hope to figure out how to use BL soon.
