All Hallows Read Readalong The Fall of the House of Usher and Other Tales by Edgar Allan Poe (Amber, Denise ,Tracey, Charbel, Faye, Pam, Katy and anyone else who wants to join) Oct 20-31
So does anyone want to join up with me in reading this collection by Poe? feel free to if you do. If you have a collection by him that has the stories in this collection in it, you can discuss them with me.
Amber, I won't be rereading these as I just read them last October but I may pop in to discuss them with you.
Amber, unfortunately the copy at the library is "busy" at them moment, which I thought was a funny way of telling me it wasn't available at the moment ;) However, if I get a hold of it later I might join in.
It's no problem at all Jenny. If you can get it later, that'll be great. I'm not starting the readalong until October 20th so you still got time to get it before we start. I'm not even going to start reading it until then.
Awesome Denise. I'm glad you are joining in to read this collection of Poe's with me on October 20th for All Hallow's Read. Btw, this is the first readalong I've hosted in the bookclub so far. I'll be doing a readalong of City of Bones in December. ^_^ If anyone else want to read along with me, feel free to because we are not starting until October 20th so you have plenty of time to either borrow the book at the library or buy it. I got my copy at Barnes and noble.

Amber, it might help people join if you could list the stories that are in your edition. That way, they could see if they could find some/most in some other collection.
Great idea Leslie thanks! Here's the stories that are in this collection: The Balloon Hoax
Ms. Found in a Bottle
A Descent into the Malestrom
The Murders in the Rue Morgue
The Purloined Letter
The Black Cat
The Fall of the House of Usher
The Pit and the Pendulum
The Masque of the Red Death
The Cask of Amontillado
The Assignation
The Tell-Tale Heart
Diddling
The Man That Was Used Up
Narrative of A. Gordan Pym
Awesome charbel! :-) I'm glad you are going to join us in the poe readalong coming up. It starts oct 20th. If anyone else wants to join in, feel free to.
So when we start this readalong, do you guys want to discuss it by story or discuss them after we all read the collection? I was just curious.
So does anyone else want to join in with me on October 20th to read The Fall of the House of Usher and other tales by Edgar Allan Poe? Let me know. Thanks to Tracey, Denise, and Charbel for wanting to participate with me in my first ever readalong for the book club. I hope I do well when we start.

hello read a long friends. I've just seen this and I think it'd be great to discuss as we go along too. Maybe read a couple at a time .
That'd be awesome Tracey! I made a banner photo of the readalong and placed it on the group photos that I'll be doing the readalong here in the book club and with anyone of my friends that want to do it on facebook too.
so what did you guys think of the banner? I made it for our readalong here and for the event page on my facebook for anyone that wants to read and discuss it with me there.
Thanks Charbel. I'm glad you like it. I made it yesterday on Microsoft paint and it is very spooky for our All Hallow's Read readalong plus it promotes the book we are doing, and our book club with when we are doing it.
So I got 4 people so far doing the readalong with me on my fb page of this book so I'll be doing the discussion here and on facebook. This is going to be a lot of fun! I even linked our readalong post so the friends reading along with me there can read our discussions of the book here. and they'll be discussing it with me too.
If you have microsoft paint on your computer tracey, you stretch the white part out for your images than u click paste from, choose an image from your pictures which will show up in the white space then u click off and stretch it out to include more whit e space and repeat then u add text and save. That's it.
Amber wrote: "so what did you guys think of the banner? Sorry I can't join you in your readalong as I have so much else to read at the moment, but I will read what you thought of it with interest!
I re-read these not long ago so am not gonna read them again just now, but will definitely be interested to see how you all enjoy them! Have fun! Like the banner Amber :)
LOL Tracey and thanks Shirley and Laurel. Feel free to read our discussion of it coming up and we'll have lots of spooky all Hallow's read fun.
I can't believe that we are two weeks away from this readalong! I am excited and nervous to host it here and with friends on Facebook! ^_^ smiling from ear to ear.
Btw, Jean says that she'll join in with us when we discuss Murders in the rue morgue during the readalong. Pink says that she'll join in with our discussions too so that is cool.
So yesterday was the anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe's death in 1849 where he said his last "Nevermore". His literary works still live on though. Just thinking about that yesterday made me more excited about our readalong coming up! I can't wait to start but must be patient. 12 days to go before we start, YAY!!!! ^_^
Just a heads up, the last "story" The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym is not a short story (over 200 pages)! I started it as one of the few in this volume that I didn't read last year, not realizing this. Also, somewhat ironically, it is a sea adventure !
Thanks Leslie. We were going to read that one last. It's a novella anyway. and that's cool its a nautical adventure! If you have already read the stories and want to discuss them with us when we start, you are welcome to. I'm not starting the collection until the 20th.
Sign me up! I've read a lot of Poe, but some of those story titles you listed don't seem familiar. I'm getting a copy of his complete works from my library, so I'll be able to follow along with the ones we're reading together and also read any others I find that I've previously missed. This will be fun!
Awesome faye, welcome! The last tale was a novel he wrote but am not sure if we should add i to our readalong or not. :-) this will be awesome fun! Can't wait to start. I'm doing it with friends on facebook too. :-)
Awesome Pam! No problem and thanks so much for joining in. This is the first readalong I have ever hosted and done in this book club and with friends on facebook so I am very excited and nervous about it. This is also my first ever Poe short story collection too though I have read Masque of the red death before which is one of my favorite short stories by him. I read it in middle school in my 8th grade English class with the poems Anabel Lee and the Raven. I can't wait to start this on Sunday through Halloween! Should be fun and it is no problem at all.
while we wait to start our readalong, here's the simpson's version of poe's poem, the raven. enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q32y-0...
Awesome Katy. Thank you! I am excited and nervous too since this is my first ever readalong I've hosted and participated in. :)we start sunday through Halloween so I hope you can find the book by then
Awesome katy and thanks for being a friend too. See u here for the readalong on Sunday and around the book club.

This is where we will discuss our All Hallow's Read Readalong of The Fall of the House of Usher and Other Talesby Edgar Allan Poe. This Readalong will start October 20th and will run along through Halloween. Feel free to read along with me if you like. The edition I got is the one published in 2006, the paperback version. This should be a fun and spooky readalong. One of my favorite Poe stories is included in this collection: The Masque of the Red Death (which I will read again in this collection). I have yet to read the others yet but will when I start reading this collection coming up. Let me know if you want to join in. Thanks! Amber
