Any ideas for what we should read in June? :)

message 105: by Tatjana (new)

Tatjana | 18 comments I suggest Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell :) I did just read it though but I could still discuss with you. It is a very lovely coming of age story.

message 106: by Linda (new)

Linda | 124 comments I'm sorry I haven't been very active lately! I'm busy at the moment and I'm not sure will I be able to finish Sherlock Holmes this month. :(

I've never heard of Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell before but it seems interesting. :)

message 107: by Miriam (new)

Miriam (autschi) | 80 comments I totally vote for fangirl! I feel like we should read something more recent and fangirl sounds awesome!
(Also sorry if U have not been active, my computer is super annoying, I actually am looking after my baby brother more regularly now and I have to prepare for my stay in the US right now so I feel super busy and slightly overwhelmed....)

message 108: by deborah (new)

deborah o'carroll (deborahocarroll) | 190 comments Mod
@Odile: I haven't finished Holmes yet either and I'm on a deadline to finish another book first... Hopefully soon though!

@Autschi: No worries. :) Good luck on your busy-ness!

Fangirl sounds interesting but it's not at my library. :( I'm going to be extremely busy for June though so if y'all want to read it please go ahead. :)

message 109: by Christine (new)

Christine Smith (lauriloth) | 81 comments I'm still reading The Sign of the Four myself, but I'm almost done. Hopefully I'll finish it up today.

I also am not sure how I can get my hands on Fangirl, but, like Celti, I have a billion things that need doing in June, plus a big, epic book to critique for a friend. I think it's going to be a very full month, so I might back out of this month anyway. So how about you guys go ahead and read Fangirl and hopefully I can get it someday and discuss it with everyone. ^_^ It looks like a cute book. And if I remember correctly, it spawned from NaNoWriMo. :D

message 110: by Linda (new)

Linda | 124 comments So, it seems that we are reading Fangirl then? I'll make a thread for it :)

message 111: by Miriam (new)

Miriam (autschi) | 80 comments I will probably get my copy on monday or tuesday. (And if I don't get it then I will buy it as an ebook that evening)

Are we thinking of reading something in July? Sorry to have missed out this month... I'm going to be quite busy in July with Camp NaNo and things, but I can probably squeeze in reading something. :)

Here's where I gathered some lists of previous suggestions etc:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
and
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Dunno if that helps. *shrug* Anyways, just poking the thread and asking. :) It was fun seeing y'all at the reunion! ^_^

message 113: by Linda (new)

Linda | 124 comments I'm also planning to do Camp Nano but I'll try to find time to read too. :) And yes, the reunion was so much fun <3

I went through the lists Celti posted and at the moment I would like to read Peter Pan in Scarlet or Around The World in Eighty Days. :)

:O TASHA YOU'RE BACK! *glomps* Er, yeah, good luck on that. ;)

@Odile: I've read both but have a horrible memory, so I'm good with those... :) Or whatever...

@Lauri: I ACQUIRED ANOTHER COPY OF PETER PAN IN SCARLET I WOULD SO TOTALLY SEND IT TO YOU IF I HAD YOUR ADDRESS
Ahem... >.>

message 115: by Linda (new)

Linda | 124 comments TASHA!! *hugs* Welcome back! :)

message 116: by Linda (new)

Linda | 124 comments So, does anyone else have any other suggestions for the next book?

message 117: by Christine (new)

Christine Smith (lauriloth) | 81 comments Gracious! Hello! I've been AWOL for like a month. o.o I've had so much to do, but I think I should have a good bit of free time this month, so hopefully I can join in this time!

I'm so happy to see you back, Tasha! :D

@Celti - ARE YOU SERIOUS? Rargh! If only we knew each other in person! D:

So...

Around the World in Eighty Days is a nice suggestion. We actually own that one and have been meaning to read it for, like, years.

I have been kind of thinking about trying some Neil Gaiman stuff but I don't know... *shrugs* And, erm, Poe is not my thing. Heh. Just me personally.

Howl's Moving Castle is also a suggestion. I've been thinking about rereading that one soon. It's one of those books that just has to be read yearly...or monthly. *cough* I love it so much!

message 118: by Linda (new)

Linda | 124 comments Great suggestions! I would love to read some Neil Gaiman. Howl's Moving Castle is something I definitely want to read too. Lord of the Flies could also be a great choice.

Also, I'm planning to read To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee soon and I think that could be a choice too?

message 119: by Tatjana (new)

Tatjana | 18 comments Hey guys :)
Great sugestions :) I don't know yet if I'll get to read this month but I'd definitely be in for some Neil Gaiman, Around the World in Eighty Days or To Kill a Mockingbird. :)
Also I'll shall head over to the Fangirl thread as soon as possible and discuss. (I'm a little bit too tired to do it now :P)

message 120: by deborah (new)

deborah o'carroll (deborahocarroll) | 190 comments Mod
Hmmm... so... Around the World in Eighty Days, then? Maybe?

All the people! *bounces*
*waves at Odile and Tasha and Brownie*

*glomps Lauri* Being AWOL is okay in certain instances; and finishing your novel is one of them. ^_^ *pets*

Some of the other suggestions might be cool, and of course I'm ALWAYS up for rereading Howl's Moving Castle. ;)

message 121: by Christine (new)

Christine Smith (lauriloth) | 81 comments My vote is Around the World in Eighty Days or Howl's Moving Castle. But whatever you guys decide. I'm great with whatever! It looks like Around the World in Eighty Days has gotten the most votes though...? We should probably make a final decision since we're already 3 days into the month. XD

message 122: by deborah (new)

deborah o'carroll (deborahocarroll) | 190 comments Mod
Well then, Around the World in Eighty Days it is! I guess...

@Lauri: Maybe Howl will be another time then. XD (And if not we'll just read it multiple times anyway. Because HOWL. <3)

message 123: by Linda (new)

Linda | 124 comments I created the topic for Around the World in Eighty Days: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... :)

deborah o'carroll (deborahocarroll) | 190 comments Mod
Shiny! :D Thanks Odile!

message 125: by Linda (new)

Linda | 124 comments Since it's August now we should probably choose our next book.
Does anyone have any suggestions? :)

message 126: by Miriam (new)

Miriam (autschi) | 80 comments Uh... I am sorry I was so quiet and did not say anything last month. Also don't have any suggestions... sorry

message 127: by Linda (new)

Linda | 124 comments I was thinking that maybe we should just continue reading Around the World in Eighty Days this month since none of us have finished it yet?

message 128: by Miriam (new)

Miriam (autschi) | 80 comments Maybe that is a good idea. I think i will try to do that
If we end up deciding to read something else we can still do that too

Hey guys! Sorry I've been absent! I've been off the internet for a week... :-/

Anyways, that sounds like a great idea -- I've still hardly started Around the World in 80 Days because Camp NaNo was busy. So let's do that. :)

message 130: by Tatjana (new)

Tatjana | 18 comments Hey guys :) I think it's a good idea if we keep reading Around the World in Eighty Days since I haven't started yet and I still want to read it :)

message 131: by Linda (new)

Linda | 124 comments It's September now so I think we should decide the next book? :)

message 132: by Christine (new)

Christine Smith (lauriloth) | 81 comments Oh. My. Goodness. I am soooo sorry for my absence, guys! I haven't been here in AGES. And I totally forgot about reading Around the World in Eighty Days. O_O I don't even know how. I've just had so much to read and do it slipped my mind. So shameful!

I'm not 100% I'll be participating this month either, even though I haven't in like, what? 3 or 4 months? I just have sooo many books to read right now and am working on a novella for a contest. I might try to join you though. I don't know. I still need to read Around the World in Eighty Days. And as for suggestions... I'm drawing a total blank. :-/

message 133: by Linda (new)

Linda | 124 comments It's okay, Lauri. :)

My suggestion for this month is To Kill a Mockingbird. I already have the book and I'm planning to read it soon anyway. What do you think? Other suggestions are welcome too, of course. :)

message 134: by deborah (new)

deborah o'carroll (deborahocarroll) | 190 comments Mod
I still haven't finished AW80D either! :O I was reading it in ebook form and I have a tendency to forget I'm reading books if they're ebooks. I did just dig up a paperback copy we had around the house, so it's sitting in my currently reading stack on my little table, so I feel like I'll actually remember this time! :D

To Kill a Mockingbird--there's an idea! I haven't read it; I think we have a copy around... I think I noticed once that most of us active PE bookclub people want to read it. I've never particularly WANTED to but I never read enough classics so this would be a good chance. :)

Do you think we should try it this month, or plan it for October, or...? I don't know.

Um. Suggestions. We keep talking about mayyybe doing Howl's Moving Castle and Peter Pan in Scarlet. What about The Importance of Being Earnest or Watership Down?

What do other people think?

message 135: by Tatjana (new)

Tatjana | 18 comments I'd love to read To Kill A Mockingbirf but unfortunately I'm really really busy at the moment and I don't know when I'll have time to read again.

message 136: by Linda (new)

Linda | 124 comments It seems that everyone is pretty busy at the moment so maybe we should skip this month and choose the book for October?

Odile wrote: "It seems that everyone is pretty busy at the moment so maybe we should skip this month and choose the book for October?"

Sounds good to me. :) That should give everyone some time to vote one what to read for October...

So suggest and vote away! :D

message 138: by Miriam (new)

Miriam (autschi) | 80 comments Uhrg. I am soo sorry. I never meant to dissappear but goodreads is the one tab that gets premanently closed when I shut down the internet which is weird and annoying and makes me forget that I should be paying attention to what is going on. I am also like super busy and stressed and actually go out more than I used to do.
I will try to be here more again and actually vote on the october book and then also read it?
I don't have suggestions though

message 139: by deborah (new)

deborah o'carroll (deborahocarroll) | 190 comments Mod
No problem, Autschi! :) *sends hugs* We've all been a little absent of late; life gets crazy sometimes... Hope you get unstressed and less busy soon! <3

The ones we keep occasionally talking about doing are Howl's Moving Castle and Peter Pan in Scarlet. And the latest almost-happened one looks like To Kill a Mockingbird.

Thoughts? More suggestions?

We have a couple weeks to decide! :)

message 140: by deborah (new)

deborah o'carroll (deborahocarroll) | 190 comments Mod
So does aaanybody have an opinion/suggestion? :) It's almost October... (Which also means NaNo site reboot... yikes, NaNo is so close!) So since we probably won't read during NaNo, October is our chance to read. :D

To Kill a Mockingbird? Howl's Moving Castle? Some other book?

message 141: by Linda (new)

Linda | 124 comments I can't believe it's almost October! So exciting! :D

I'm voting for To Kill a Mockingbird. But I do want to read Howl's Moving Castle at some point too. :)

message 142: by Linda (new)

Linda | 124 comments So, are we reading To Kill a Mockingbird this month? :)

I was sort of waiting to hear from Lauri and Autschi at least, but I guess so! Sounds good to me. :) I'll try to dig up a copy... XD

message 144: by deborah (new)

deborah o'carroll (deborahocarroll) | 190 comments Mod
...So several things have come up and I've figured out how busy I am, and I'm not sure I'll be able to read much this month. :(

And @Odile only you and I seem to be active just now.

So I don't know what to do! :-/ I don't want to abandon the book club reading this month also, but I might have to. D:

But is anyone else able to read? Or are there other suggestions? October's busy for pre-NaNo reasons too...

message 145: by Linda (new)

Linda | 124 comments A lot of people seem to be busy at the moment and it's very understandable considering Nano is next month (let alone other reasons like school and work).

But I think we should still read a book this month to keep this club going on. If you don't have time to read it, it's fine. You can read it when you have time and tell your opinion on it then. :)

I feel that it's better if we choose a book and at least try to read it than that we just skip this month. Even if none of us manages to read the book. (Also, since we're skipping November, maybe some of us will have time to finish it then?)

message 146: by deborah (new)

deborah o'carroll (deborahocarroll) | 190 comments Mod
Okay, sure, I think that's a good idea. :)

message 147: by Linda (new)

message 148: by deborah (new)

Oh! Yes. Thanks for doing that Odile! :) (I totally should have done it, I forgot and am out of everything because I'm sick.) I hope to find time to read it (and the ones I missed...) soon! :) Libraries are our friends. XD

message 149: by Miriam (new)

Miriam (autschi) | 80 comments Okay I am sorry I want to say I am back around but.... I have a college class plus work plus nano I guess so I will probably not be around a lot until like mid December so I am sorry I just wanted to let you know

@Autschi: Thanks for popping in to let us know anyway! :) This is a really busy time of year... :P Good luck on college and NaNo!
