Kena Baker | 4 comments Okay. So I know this is long shot, but this is a book I read a few years ago and for the life of me I can not remember the title.

Basically this is what I can remember about it:

The book is about a group of orphans, they were adopted and put into the same house because they all possessed some form of "power"

I can remember two of the characters.

One of the girls has the ability to pause time. She does this to gain knowledge and is very smart beyond her years ( at the end of the book this backfires on her since she ages very rapidly to make up for all the time she spent reading when the time was paused)

The other is very, vain. In order for her to capture the attention of the boy she likes, she has to take painful baths in order to gain the sort of trait she wishes to possess.

If anyone has an idea of how I could find the title, or if you know the title. I would be very appreciative. Been searching for years and no real results.

How long ago did you read this book? What did the children do with their power? Something dramatic like defeat a villain? Or, did the book follow their day-to-day life living with these powers?

Kena Baker | 4 comments Read it a few years ago. I only remember two of the characters. I believe there were five.. the book followed their day-to-day life.

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments Kena, how long ago was "a few years ago?" Around 5, 10, or more?

A timeframe will help in pinning down when the book was published.

Another Faust is the click for Kitten's suggestion.

And can I just say--the blurb sure seems like it could be it.
