Melody Up All Night Novels (upallnightnovels) | 30 comments HOORAY!!! Thank you Zeenat!!!

Melody Up All Night Novels (upallnightnovels) | 30 comments First off, did anyone else's heart stop dead when Jenks said "You've been dating him for 3 months."? Because mine stopped. And then I re-read it. Then shook my head and re-read it again, and wanted to cry because I thought they'd been dating for three months and Kim was holding out on us!

*whew* glad that wasn't the case... Or IS it? Lol! They've been "seemingly all over Cincinnati" together.

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 241 comments They are kinda dating though aren't they? She "plays at security" even though she knows he can protect himself.

He can protect himself, but still asks her around for security assignments. Whatever they are dating in my book.

So Quen has had the girls for months in Seattle? That's a long time.

Regina (reginaontheroad) | 69 comments The "dating" thing reminded me of her relationship with Marshal. Having someone "platonic" to do things with. Did anyone catch the overnight business trip mention? That was like in PD, when Rachel was checking out the hotel room, wondering if that's what it would be like working with Trent...

I thought Trent and Ellasbeth had the girls for one month. Didn't she mention they had to meet ellasbeth in the park because Trent didn't want her on his grounds? Maybe this means the 2nd month Ellasbeth had them Is now ending?

Melody Up All Night Novels (upallnightnovels) | 30 comments I think not wanting Ellasbeth on the grounds has something to do with her attempt to assassinate Rachel in Trouble on Reserve. Trent knew it was happening, and tried to save Rachel without telling her what was going on. Kim had mentioned, if I'm not mistaken, that Ellasbeth was behind it.

I love how she said in Rachel's quiet moments she had been thinking about what Jenks said. Ooh so she's been thinking about "boinking" Trent!!!!

Krista D | 15 comments Hehehe... Cookie Bits :D

Amanda (amalloff) | 26 comments Re: the overnight business trips with Rachel and Trent - all I have to say about that is that Rachel has learned some seriously super human restraint!
Because the "old" Rachel would be all up in the sexy elf shenanigans on these little trips, consequences be damned. *grin*

I had the exact same reaction. I was all "Nooooo, she can't shortchange us by having us miss the first official date!" Thankfully, it seems that that's going to be bowling. I bet Trent takes his own bowling shoes, lol.

But Zee, you have a point. I think the playing at security has been an "acceptable" way for the two of them to spend time together without Rachel freaking out about dating. Apparently there's been no more kissing...which is good because I'd hate to have missed out on it.

And damn it, I want to read about that overnight trip!

Klint | 22 comments I though just the same, Trent carrying his own shoes for bowling looool

I can't wait to put my hands in this book, if I don't get an ARC I'm going to die.

VampireNovelFan | 489 comments *stalking edelweiss*

Krista D | 15 comments I missed the part about the over night trip. I guess I will have to force myself to read it again :)

VampireNovelFan | 489 comments What a chore! I think Harper Collins has uploaded all they plan to upload for the week this week. I'll check back next week. Hopefully it's soon! I don't think I can wait much longer!

Melody Up All Night Novels (upallnightnovels) | 30 comments VampireNovelFan wrote: "What a chore! I think Harper Collins has uploaded all they plan to upload for the week this week. I'll check back next week. Hopefully it's soon! I don't think I can wait much longer!"

That's what I keep thinking. What bugs me is that there are ARCs out there that don't release until April already available for review. WHY are they holding out on us? LOL! It's TORTURE!!!

Melody Up All Night Novels (upallnightnovels) | 30 comments Once again, Rachel seems to be completely clueless. It's endearing... mostly. But dang it, anytime a man offers to teach you how to do something, especially golf of pool, wake up and smell the hot elf Fore-Play (pun totally intended)!

Also, She already knows Quen is due back the next day, so a spur of the moment invite to an evening of bowling? That, my dear, is a DATE. The same with his "usual tee time next week". Quen will be back if Trent just wanted to go golfing, but it was still important for him to find an excuse to spend time with her.

I hope the next chapter is Rachel kicking herself good and soundly in the butt for not realizing this sooner. :)

Amanda (amalloff) | 26 comments They're not actually going bowling though, are they? It didn't sound like he was serious about that - more like it was something pat to say in lieu of whatever the real plans are (date or otherwise.)
Trent and bowling just don't go together, and I have to admit I'd be seriously disappointed if that was their first date!

Melody Up All Night Novels (upallnightnovels) | 30 comments See, that's the beauty of it. Rachel suggested going bowling. When she asked "business or causal business", Trent merely replied "Casual". And Rachel didn't take it seriously when he said bowling. So I'm thinking it's his way of asking her out on a very casual outing which she won't be actually "working", and which he thinks she will enjoy because it was sort of her idea.

message 18: by Veronica (last edited Sep 23, 2013 10:30AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Veronica (readingonthefly) My impression was that Trent was serious but Rachel thought he was joking. I have a hard time seein Trent bowling too but I think it's a natural progression of The Rachel Effect on him. He can relax around her and just be a person, a man, instead of the saviour of the elven race.

Plus, I think it'd be a nod to Rachel's first date with Kisten. Didn't she put a monetary limit on how much he spent on the date because she wanted to see what he could come up with as a normal date? Rachel has never been impressed with money so Trent taking her on a low budget date probably would mean more to her than an expensive dinner at Carew Tower.

Melody Up All Night Novels (upallnightnovels) | 30 comments @Veronica, you're reading my mind! Trent wants to be seems as more than checkbook, and Rachel has always had issues with money.

message 20: by Amanda (last edited Sep 23, 2013 10:31AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amanda (amalloff) | 26 comments Casual/low cost, I approve - Rachel's not a gold digger and Trent should know that after everything - but bowling?? It just doesn't jive with my mental picture of his suaveness - when I try to picture it I end up with a Trent Kalamack/Homer Simpson hybrid of strangeness. :P

Veronica (readingonthefly) Melody wrote: "@Veronica, you're reading my mind! Trent wants to be seems as more than checkbook, and Rachel has always had issues with money."

Trent minds think alike! ;)

Regarding the bowling, Mercy and Adam went on a bowling date too, if memory serves, so no Homer Simpson imagery for me. lol

Amanda (amalloff) | 26 comments Veronica G. wrote: "Regarding the bowling, Mercy and Adam went on a bowling date too, if memory serves, so no Homer Simpson imagery for me. lol "

I don't see Adam as suave though, so I'm okay with him bowling. :) Because it's all about me! (j/k of course)

Regina (reginaontheroad) | 69 comments I can totally see Trent bowling! We saw him roller skating (and winning best costume), wearing borrowed clothes on a tour boat when he stole Lucy, in a dirty lab coat and eating at a hole-in-the-wall restaurant! Golf and "bowling", I think, are excuses to get some Rachel alone time. Especially bowling... After all, his apartments are currently empty ;)

I think Trent encompasses all the best parts of her previous boyfriends and Ivy...
Nick - dangerous yet highly intelligent
Kisten - sexy blond who can protect her without killing people, a power in his own right and a business man... And didn't feel the need to change her
Marshal - someone fun to do stuff with yet also knows how to deal w sneaks like Tom Bansen...
Pierce - powerful magic user
Ivy - has always loved Rachel for exactly who she is, they work well together, comes from money but doesn't flaunt it, and another power player in Cincy

Not to mention, she's got a definite thing for guys who can rock the bed w magic :)

I've already set up an ebay alert, praying someone decides to sell an arc, and it's somewhat affordable. That's how I got the EA arc. I always buy the ebook (already preordered!) but I seriously cannot wait until February!! Does anyone know if a "hollows anonymous" support group exists anywhere?

Melody Up All Night Novels (upallnightnovels) | 30 comments Regina, we can always make a hollows support group. :) its necessary. Those of us who get the ARC actually need a support group of our own to talk about the ARC without ruining it for anyone else, because once we've read it, we ALL want to talk about it.

Regina (reginaontheroad) | 69 comments My name is Regina and I'm a Hollows addict.

:)

Amanda (amalloff) | 26 comments @ Regina, I got an ARC the same way for EA (and bought the Kindle version too). We definitely need a support group, I'm getting desperate - must.have.ARC.now. O_o

Krista D | 15 comments Any chance his giant mansion/compound has a private bowling alley? Although, I do like the idea of Trent at a public bowling alley on laser and fog night :)

Lauren (originally_elle) | 29 comments Im happy that we are finally going to learn more about Elfin magic. The past few books have been building up to it with Trent practicing magic more and more.

message 29: by VampireNovelFan (last edited Sep 23, 2013 07:54PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

VampireNovelFan | 489 comments I created a private ARC group for Ever After to keep spoilers contained some months before its release. No reason that can't be revived for The Undead Pool for those who actually acquire ARCs. It's only limited to those who actually have ARCs though. I will quiz new member requests. I got mine from Kim herself so it was priceless, though I know I could have gotten a pretty penny for it on ebay (I think the first one went for almost $400), but it's also not technically legal to sell, though it doesn't appear that publishers are cracking down on it...

Melody Up All Night Novels (upallnightnovels) | 30 comments VampireNovelFan wrote: "I created a private ARC group for Ever After to keep spoilers contained some months before its release. No reason that can't be revived for The Undead Pool for those who actually acquire ARCs. It's..."

OOOH! Yes, YOU are the one! I couldn't remember who made the Ever After ARC Support group (and I'm still figuring out goodreads groups, which is sad since I've been a member for awhile now). I was hoping there would be one for this book as well! The EA ARC Support group was a LIFE SAVER!

Regina (reginaontheroad) | 69 comments @vampirenovelfan
I was late to the party, but getting admitted to the EA arc support group was a complete thrill! I actually didn't know what an "arc" was until I saw everyone going on about them last year... Which led me to google.. Then ebay... Then checking mail everyday...

@amanda @vampirenovelfan
I was naive last year and had no idea arcs shouldn't be sold! That being said... it's a slippery slope... I hear the trick to overcoming addiction is one day at a time....but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! I'll deal with my addiction after the series ends (accompanied with loud sobbing)!

Kritchie | 126 comments Melody wrote: "First off, did anyone else's heart stop dead when Jenks said "You've been dating him for 3 months."? Because mine stopped. And then I re-read it. Then shook my head and re-read it again, and wanted..."

Yes! Mine did! I read and re-read this Chapter 1 so much that I think I am reading too much between the lines. I simply can't wait until the whole book is out!
I definitely noticed about Trent "Wanting to teach her golf.", and Trent caressing her hands, and how he guided her away with his hand on her back!
It could be my imagination but it sounds like Trent is serious about Rachel and waiting for a "real" response from her. How did everyone else read these scenes?
I wish I was on an ARC list but no such luck. Anyone that wants to discuss it or start a separate group, please, pretty please invite me?

Klint | 22 comments I'm pretty sure we will have to wait for the ARC at least 3 weeks, maybe a little more.

Last year the EA ARC was available in Edelweiss october 17, and the book was being published in January.
The new book will be published in February and Kim finished the last rewriting early this month soooooooooooo I think in 1 month we will be able to put or hands on one.

Amanda (amalloff) | 26 comments @ Kritchie - I agree, I think Trent is patiently waiting for Rachel to catch up/clue in.

message 35: by Mae (new)

Mae Padua-janusas | 26 comments I think Trent doesn't want to rush her or say something because he knows her tendency to "rationalize" her feelings so she can either fight or flight so to speak. I can't wait till she realizes she's in love with him too :)

Zeenat (zeekwon) | 241 comments I think Trent is waiting for Rachel. Otherwise I doubt he would be delaying the marriage to Ellasbeth.

VampireNovelFan | 489 comments Pale Demon and A Perfect Blood ARCs were available around the same (October) even when it was still in February.

Shannon Carly (shannibal) | 61 comments VampireNovelFan wrote: "Pale Demon and A Perfect Blood ARCs were available around the same (October) even when it was still in February."

is it October yet? Lol, the wait is excruciating!

Lynsey is Reading (lynsey-is-reading) | 10 comments Hello ladies!

It's that time of year again, isn't it? Time to get obsessed all over again!:)

Can I just quiz one thing from this thread - "We saw him roller skating (and winning best costume)" did I sleep through something, what is this referring to?

Veronica (readingonthefly) Lynsey (The Demon Librarian) wrote: "Hello ladies!

Linsey, i don't recall what book it was in...but it was when Quen was dying and Trent tracked Rachel down at the local roller skating rink. Rachel refused to stop skating when Trent tried to wave her over so he put on skates and went out after her. lol I'm not sure about the costume thing. The only costume I remember is the Rynn Cormel one that Rachel helped him with (because she really, really did hate him!) but I dont' recall anything about a contest.

Regina (reginaontheroad) | 69 comments One of my fave scenes from ODW!

“Rachel,” he said as he settled in beside me, and I felt uneasy when he looked at my scarf as if he knew what lay under it. “You are unbelievable. You know I want to talk to you.”
“So here I am.” I smiled and tucked a curl out of the way. “Besides, I’ve always wanted to see a world power on skates. You skate really well—for a murderer.”

“His green eyes squinted and his jaw tightened. I watched him force the tension out of himself. God, I enjoyed pushing his buttons. That he even cared what I thought said volumes.”

...

“My eyebrows rose in challenge, but Trent surprised me, sliding closer and looping his arm through mine. His fingers were cold, and my smile faded. Something was seriously wrong. I loved irritating Trent, and I honestly got the impression that he put up with it so he could irritate me back, but this? I’d never felt his skin so cold.”

...

“Congratulations!” Mr. Aston slurred, and I realized everyone was staring at us, cheering. “You’ve won the daywalkers’ best costume!”
He was talking to Trent, and the angry man caught his emotional balance with an
“enviable quickness, shaking the rink owner’s hand with a practiced ease, smiling as he tried to realign his thoughts and figure out what was going on. I could see his fury at me simmering under his pleasant expression. The buxom-spelled beauty giggled, draping a ribbon of entry coupons around his neck, startling me and shocking Trent when she gave him a sloppy, red-lipsticked kiss on his cheek.”

Lynsey is Reading (lynsey-is-reading) | 10 comments Oh, my god, yes! It's all coming back to me now. Maybe i need to jump on this re-read!lol

Regina (reginaontheroad) | 69 comments lol I've memorized the books. I can provide citations, upon request :)

Lynsey is Reading (lynsey-is-reading) | 10 comments Regina wrote: "lol I've memorized the books. I can provide citations, upon request :)"

Now, that's impressive. Thanks for fetching the quote:)

Veronica (readingonthefly) That was fast, Regina! I read the series one right after the other, at least up to Pale Demon, so all the events are a blur of events that I can't separate out into individual books. From PD on though I had to read the books once a year so I can keep things separate for those books.

JB (jbwolf) | 15 comments Ahhhhh, yes, the wait for ARC's LOL. I am on total tenterhooks, crossing every finger and toe I have, in the hopes that I get approved for The Undead Pool ARC this year. I am desperate to get my hands on it! A feeling I am sure all you ladies share ;)

The first chapter of TUP was AMAZEBALLS! I am so excited! I agree with everyone else who commented that Trent is waiting for Rachel to wake up and smell the love coffee. Based on that first chapter, she's getting there, but she hasn't turned that fateful corner yet, and I reeeeeeeeally hope she does this book! I need them to be together, dang it! Like, officially - and forget sealing the deal with a kiss, we've been there, done that! I want horizontal mambo-ing. Lots and lots and LOTS of it! :P (Okay, so the lots and lots part probably won't happen - this is a UF series after all - but hey, a girl can dream!)

❀ Minesha ❀ (minesha) | 1 comments Oh man, now I wish I hadn't read the first chapter. I officially have a full blown crush on Trenton Kalamack :))

I love how their relationship progresses throughout the series. It is not a "Oh your handsome and I'm in love with you in spite of all your flaws. " Rather realistic and now I'm getting a really warm feeling and fluttering in my stomach whenever those two are together.

Veronica (readingonthefly) I second Janice's motion for some horizontal mambo-ing.

I'm nothing if not consistent. :)

I've got George Michael's "I Want Your Sex" running through my mind now for some odd reason... (yes, I'm a child of the 80s,lol).
