I want to start a poll to see how many people will wait and read the whole book and how many will jump right to chapter 22?

QUESTION!!! I know this has been answered before, but I can't find it for some reason...when is the very last book coming out? I know I sound like I'm totally getting ahead of myself here since book 12 isn't even out yet...I just want to know how long the next wait will be :)

I think she's trying to convince herself that she doesn't really want it as much she does. It can't hurt as much when you don't get it, right?

I love savoring each chapter as it comes up. A slow burn, indeed.
Omgosh, and what a good team they make at the end!! They truly balance each other perfectly. On a different note, I was waiting for the bartender to tell them to get a room!!
I still can't believe they manage to keep their hands off each other for those three months that Rachel is working Trent's security almost every day.
Hehe, instead of reading the teaser chapters, it was sufficient to see everybody else getting excited! (though I had to stop reading the comments closely)I do hope though that Trenchel is not the sure thing that the previous books hint at. It would be … boring?
I think the past couple books (at least since Pale Demon?), Trent and Rachel have obviously been exploring their feelings for each other. I would call that a super slow burn. I would say that should they (hopefully) finally get together early in the book it has been a long time coming and wouldn't be boring in my opinion. We've been waiting for so long! There's still some pretty big hoops to jump through still, Ellasbeth, Al, Quen, Cormel, various prejudices from others. Can't wait to read it.

I kind of like that.
Rachel and Marshall spent a couple months just being friends and doing stuff together and we know how that worked out. I dont blame Rachel for taking it slow with her track record but I don't think she felt anything close with Marshall than she does with Trent. Seems to me it would've been torture to spend all that time together and not touch at all.
I always forget about Marshall - he was so bland - so I never really count him. lol

Me Too! I think she was just beginning to understand what she could have and wanted that last kiss if she was going to hurt anyway. At this point when she thinks it through she is going to be too far in emotional to get out without pain.
She already cares too much and her emotions are involved while her mind is resisting admitting it.
I can't decide if Trent truly wants to work something out with Ellasbeth at this point or if he has a secret plan. We all know Trent is a planner!

LOL that's my take! I think he is a responsible man. He's accepted his faith unless someone else reminds him otherwise...
methinks that if Quen gets on board with, "be happy, forget responsibility", it's a done deal for Trenchel. But, would that ever happen?
Good question, Susan. I get a little annoyed with Quen that he seems to be backing this whole political marriage to that woman. I know the elves have an entirely different, and out-dated, view of women and marriage in general (at least in the upper crust), but geez, I feel like Quen should want Trent to find some measure of personal happiness. He found his with Ceri.But the whole need-to-marry-Ellasbeth thing makes no sense to me anymore because Lucy already exists. The Kalamacks and the Withons are joined forever now through her so why isn't Trent and Ellasbeth co-parenting (and not being married) enough?

Elves have their way of doing things and they view it as the only "right way". Trent (and for that matter, Ellasbeth) is kind of stuck in that "child of immigrant" type of deal. Trent especially being so entrenched with the other cultures (Witches, Humans) and he grew up watching his parents work with Rachel's dad... He is really stuck.

But Maybe you are right. Living with Ellasbeth for 3 months could change things! Why would you want that woman near your CHILDREN!?!? lol I know the Hollows world is forgiving... BUT forgiveness does not mean you have to but kids in unhealthy situations!

This is a man that never thought he'd find true love. Duty was everything. Life has changed, but will it soften his heart and make urge him to live in the moment or make him an even stauncher advocate of duty?
But then, along the lines of what you are saying, I believe that VNF put a quote out there on her ARC read. It seems telling, but I can't quite find it. (therefore can't quote it, grr) VNF...can you help us out? It's the quote with Quen in Rachel's church.

No jumping although I have read the 1-5 released chapters, I will read them again. I love Kim's writng style and love to keep in intact.
Chapter 22 will mean much, much more if you read everything that comes before it.
How many chapters total? Just curious :)

@Lindsay - Not sure how many chapters since I don't have my kindle handy but it's her usual 33 to 34-ish, I think. It went by way too fast for me, that's all I know! lol@Susan - I'm looking forward to a lot of discussion once everyone has read it. I'm looking forward to my re-read because I know I missed a lot on my first pass through. :)
