The Undead Pool **Spoiler Thread**
I really want Rachel and Trent to have a demon/elf baby (after Book 13). I know that Kim once said somewhere on her Ask Kim page that demons and elves can't reproduce but I'm sort of hoping that Trent can genetically engineer a miracle and reconcile the Elves and the Demons all at the same time. I realise this is wishful thinking in the extreme given Rachel's current state of mind (Chapter 2 TUP-at least, that's where I'm up to), but hey, what are discussion boards for if you can't dream a little... lol
Mellifluous wrote: "Would Rachel get Ellasbeth's room or would she share Trent's...lol "
I think Trent would lobby for sharing his room. lol
Trent and Rachel would definitely share a room. Mellifluous - I dream about them having babies too! I know that Trent has Lucy and everything, but I really wanted Rachel to have her own since she's always dreamed about it. I agree, though, it's probably not going to happen without some major plot-twist happening.
Is it February yet?

as it takes me a day to finish a book, I'm sure I will finish the book as soon as it comes out LOL!
Zeenat wrote: "I tried to let Ever After last... It lasted half a day instead of 2.5 hours LOL"How do you read so fast!!
lol I don't know :) I read really fast really fast... although there are a lot of people who read even faster than me.
I am with Zeenat in that it will be a day but like with EA, I re-read and re-read over the following days until I know it by heart! Once is NEVER enough! As for Dreaming: Yes! That is what this is for! I want Rachel and Trent sharing a room! A elf-demon baby would be an interesting way to solidify the races but Rachel doesn't sound like she has the baby craving just yet in TUP up to Chp 2 which is all we have so far.
But who knows...once they get into bed(which I hope is slow and wonderful) anything is up for grabs!
2.5 hours would be way too fast! It depends on how long my kids will leave me alone for! I might need to send them to the grandparents for the day so I'm not interrupted. Since the next one after TUP won't be out for a long time, I'll try to make it last.Yes, Kritchie, maybe Trent's dad used a little elf DNA when they genetically modified Rachel's? ;)
@ ZeenatBut you have to leave time for all the re-reading... ;-) I read fast. I think I did EA in 2 days (pretty good considering since I packed my reading into 2x4 hour stints late at night in between work, children and chores), but I missed waaaay too much in the first go as I was reading too fast and not really paying attention to the fine detail. I always find that once I know the ending and I am not chewed up about what is going to happen that I can relax enough to actually enjoy the detail of the book. lol. And of course, I have my favorite scenes which I read again... and again... and again...
@MeganI have tried reading before the kids are in bed... *sighs* it doesn't work. Especially when my eldest looks over my shoulder while I am reading (and it almost always seems to happen during a seduction scene or something intimate), starts reading out loud (he is only 6 but a good reader) and then asks me what it is about. lol...
Lol. I'm glad my children aren't old enough to read yet! I read too fast sometimes too. I'm sure I'm going to have to re-read TUP especially if there are some good scenes!
Mellifluous wrote: "@MeganI have tried reading before the kids are in bed... *sighs* it doesn't work. Especially when my eldest looks over my shoulder while I am reading (and it almost always seems to happen during ..."
OMG, my kids always seem to interrupt me right when it's getting to the sexy parts too! Especially my four year old. I'm like, "Really? You need a glass of juice right this very minute? Death is imminent without it?"
I hear you, Veronica! Sometimes I just want to lock myself in the bathroom to read the juicy parts if I didn't think they would be banging on the door the whole time!
@ Meganlol... I do a lot of my reading in the bathroom (but I do have to barricade the door to stop the kids-who hammer away anyway)
When my husband sees me reading he says: 'you're not reading that book again are you? Haven't you already read it.'
He did let me buy GBU again though using his US itunes account (accompanied by much grumbling). I could tell he thought that I was nuts for wanting to buy another copy of an e-book just to get a preview chapter.
His words: "I hope it was worth it"
My answer: "Yes"
What odds do you think that we will get Chapter 3 on Kim's website for Christmas? Unfortunately, I think it is more likely to be Chapter 2. I really couldn't wait for Chapter 2 any longer though... knowing that I could buy it. lol.
I've already read Chapter 2 so if that was the "Christmas release" on Kim's website, that would be a disappointment for sure. Chapter 3 would be great. Chapter 2 has been at the end of all the e-books recently.
Megan wrote: "I've already read Chapter 2 so if that was the "Christmas release" on Kim's website, that would be a disappointment for sure. Chapter 3 would be great. I guess we'll see. Kim Harrison is such a tease! ;)But really, I won't be satisfied until I get the whole book in February.

It should only be read in it's entirety. It's just that good.
Megan wrote: "2.5 hours would be way too fast! It depends on how long my kids will leave me alone for! I might need to send them to the grandparents for the day so I'm not interrupted. Since the next one after T..."Yeah I am leaning that way but Rachel does have Lucy to fall in love with too if there are no elf-demon babies!
And yes Megan I constantly hear my husband grumbling just...loud enough to hear:
"You're reading that again like you don't have ten times too many others for one person."
I read most 250 page paperbacks in 4.0 hours and if it is a hard back I really want like Ever After 453 the first read is just at 4.5 to 5.0 hours. However I always re-read the favorites. Especially if stressed or lonely or just to laugh and cry with the characters I love so much....
Mellifluous wrote: "@ ZeenatBut you have to leave time for all the re-reading... ;-) I read fast. I think I did EA in 2 days (pretty good considering since I packed my reading into 2x4 hour stints late at night in ..."
Oh yes... this is how I reread books, too. When I'm not so busy, I read 3 to 4 books at a time lol
Man, I have trouble when I try to read two books at a time. All I can ever think about is the progress I'm not making on the book I'm not reading at that moment. lol
it helps me make books last longer, but I can't do that with my top favorites like the Hollows lol they get undivided attention.
OMG, I have about 4 books I'm reading at the same time right now. I keep getting distracted, especially with this re-read.I like to listen to an audiobook (right now it's Allegiant by Veronica Roth) while I read another book. That way I can listen to a book while I do chores/errands and then have another book to read when I can sit down to do so.
I get distracted when I have to read a book for my book club or get a book back to the library in the next few days so I go on a marathon reading sprint. Somehow I manage to keep them all straight.
Okay, TWiser, here's a quote:"Was it cowardice if there was no way? My mind said no, but my heart said yes."
Veronica G. wrote: "Okay, TWiser, here's a quote:"Was it cowardice if there was no way? My mind said no, but my heart said yes.""
That's a good one!
"It's strange how we need the very thing we fear," he said as his eyes met mine.
... this next one made me get all teary...
"Jenk's nasty expression softened, becoming both full of pride and sorrow. I'd seen him look at his daughters like that, and something in me hurt."
TWiser wrote: "it says **Spoiler Thread** so share the dets ;p"I've got tons of quotes, Twiser but no spoilers, but still, take your pick https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Here's another one:"The call had started in the elevator, and I was amazed at how he was able to keep his cool when everything was falling apart. But that's what made Trent, Trent."
AND
"But a pawn could become a queen if she reached the end and came back again."
It's kind of hard to find good quotes hat don't give too much away. :)
Thanks for all of the quotes! I had told myself I wasn't going to by an e-book that I already own (and I refuse to buy a kindle or anything like it - I like books, holding them, looking at them on the bookshelf) but after reading everyone's comments I just couldn't wait. Thankfully my husband has an I-pad so I could read it. Leaves me wanting more......!
Here's another one that I really like..."Pixies, friends, almost lovers, I mused, wondering if it would all amount to anything other than a good story. My head hurt. I needed a cup of coffee."
Tina wrote: "Thanks for all of the quotes! But then I went to the dark side. I just love the inter-activeness and how I can highlight things and do word searches. And I'm able to read a LOT more because I'm not accumulating anything. I AM an e-ink snob though. I don't like reading on my tablet at all unless it's a comic, graphic novel or manga. Now I don't even read The Hollows in hardback. I just collect them for Kim to sign and to complete my shelf. I don't plan to have physical copies of her next series unless it's MMP. I'll just have Kim sign that and whatever e-reader device I have at the time.
Oooohhhh, thanks! I wasn't expecting anything but was hoping. And VNF I have seen your tidbits of torture ;)
Thanks Regina and Veronica... (happy dance)Every morsel counts when you are starving. I have got to say though so far the TUP quote I have loved/am obsessing over the most out of all of them is...
""We are going to be in so much trouble," I said, thinking it was funny, and he smiled back, eyes going to my lips.
"Then let's make sure it's worth being in trouble for.""
Mellifluous wrote: "Thanks Regina and Veronica... (happy dance)Every morsel counts when you are starving. I have got to say though so far the TUP quote I have loved/am obsessing over the most out of all of them is....."
That was among my faves but that one was in the errrrm potentially spoiler pile.
OMG Thank you so much for the quotes... It makes the anticipation that much more delicious! Please please keep them coming.
@VNFI found it in the goodreads status updates for TUP (sorry). OMG. Now I really want to know if I think it is what I think it is...
Dang. Why isn't it February yet?

15 bids already. We'll see how much this one goes for...

Veronica G. wrote: "I really hope that Kim comes near me on her TUP signing tour. Sometimes she skips a year and she came within an hour of me for EA soooo...."I'd say meeting her is so much more of a valuable experience than just getting a book with her signature. I've been able to attend a signing every year starting with Black Magic Sanction. That's when my obsession went into overdrive. I also think meeting other fans did something to me because I was just so used to enjoying it between me and my bff (the one who turned me onto the series in the first place). I've had to drive up to 3 hours. I live in the Washington, DC area so she usually hits somewhere north or south of here if she isn't here directly. If I recall I'd say I met her at:
Black Magic Sanction - B&N - Charlottesville, VA. It was a 3 hour drive (one way) in March but the weather was AMAZING. I'd just recently bought my car and it was one of my first opportunities to use the sunroof so that was exciting.
Pale Demon - Comic Con, San Diego, CA (she was a guest while I was there. We met her a few times and that's where she started to really remember me.
A Perfect Blood - BAM between DC and Baltimore - She remembered me from the Drama Box and SDCC. She joked that I wasn't blue. I even got a hug. It normally takes me a half hour to get there when it's not rush hour. I think it took me about an hour and a half that time though and it was touch and go though because I had to get there during rush hour and traffic was horrendous (I think we're #1 in he country now for the worst, suck it LA). And there was an accident on the beltway. I was literally inches away from a fire truck and was just relieved I was able to get by. I think I was the last one to get by before they completely halted traffic. *whew*
Ever After - Book Fair in Charlottesville, VA (not during the official tour). I ran into her in the elevator. She remembered me then too.
The Undead Pool - it could be on the moon and I'll be there, rofl. But since she's hitting the east coast hard this year I'm very confident she'll be a reasonable distance away.
My hair (and sometimes skin if I'm in costume) was distinctly different every time so it always surprises me that she remembers).
Anybody else have awesome Kim encounters to share?
I've only met her once but she knew me from my posting name at the Drama Box so she stood up to give me a hug and had her hubby take a picture of us with her Bunny Cam. I only discovered this series about eight months after the release of PD so I missed the tour that year and she didn't come my way for APB. She came to Austin, TX for EA so a fellow Hollows fan and I made the one hour drive to see her. Houston and Dallas (both approx three hours away from me - well, Dallas may be closer to 3.5-4 hours) are the usual stops authors make when they come to Texas, but I'd be willing to make the drive for her.

Thanks. Plenty of time then to read TUP before newborn chaos hits... ;-) I'm feeling a bit out of practice though. The last one was 3 years ago and I'm sure I have forgotten heaps of stuff in the meanwhile. No doubt it will all come back to me.
