There's not much action anymore and at this point I'm really just wanting to finish the series because I'm so far along already.

I did love the first handful, tho!

I bought them a couple of books at a time but when I finished 8 I just didn't have the urge to read on anymore. Mainly because I had stopped really caring about the characters by that point.
I do agree with Rachel~SnapDragoness though, book 4 is really good.

Absorbed by it? I don't know about that. They were easy read, some were better than others. I have noticed that many of them I was about half in and all I knew about the story was that she wore this or that dress with little flowers and a little bit of make up and she sat in the sun with a lemonade because she didn't know what else to do and she loves to sit in the sun anyways because it gives her a nice sun tan and... and... and... well I am sure you get what I mean already... I can't say in which book exactly it started to get on my nerve but at some point, it did.

Overall, I really enjoy them. I like them much more than True Blood but they are two completely different things.

The books were not all that bad. In fact I enjoyed the first ones quite a lot. As I said I don't know when exactly I started to feel as there could be much more and they were missing something. Do I regret buying them and reading them? Not at all. Would I recommend them? Sure. I would simply add with my recommendation that at some point the quality goes down. Yet, that doesn't mean they are not worth reading. I am sorry if my earlier post came out that way.

I started off with the books and watched the series AFTER so I might be biased but I do like the show as well. Although the books? Definitely better :)

Much later, I decided to give the book a try and liked them (at least a lot of them). I now can watch True blood but I can't stand their Sookie. She is NOT how I had imagined her from the book. Someone here mentioned she only liked Pam, funny because Pam is one I can't stand in the TV series. She is supposed to look like Barbie, (True blood's Pam sure doesn't). She is supposed to be the closest friend Sookie could have that is a vampire. True Blood's Pam is far from being friendly to Sookie.
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's all in my imagination, but then I choose my idea of the characters over the TV shows.

TB's Sookie is quite different from the books, yes. Don't the books say she's a size 10, and maybe could squeeze into an 8 on a good day?

Book-wise, I loved the first two books, hated the third and then became increasingly bored. I think it may have something to do with the fact I read about 10 straight after each other...
I think I've been meaning to read number 12 for about a year and a bit now? Oops.
