Yes.

message 53: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) Is this as complicated as it sounds???? I dont' even know what a BAP it hink something to hit you with

message 54: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments No, Lindy, it's really simple. Event one, read lots of pages. Event two, have your team read 15 books that fit categories.

BAPs are book advantage points - the things we trade cupcakes for and win from the monthly mod challenges since April - that count the same as books we actually read.

message 55: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments It's just a lot of words for descriptive and explanatory purposes, but the challenge is really just as simple as I said in my last post.

So... READ LIKE A BANHEE! :)

message 56: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) Are the categories going to be some normal ones like romance and mysteriues?? I dont' go for vampires, shape shiftters, dont' even know what they are, can do ghosts tho

message 57: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments The categories listed provide options for those who don't do "Halloween" books.

There are two spell out options and a color cover hunt that you can use your romances and mysteries Etc for, and your teammates can cover the Halloween type books!

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Lindy wrote: "Are the categories going to be some normal ones like romance and mysteriues?? I dont' go for vampires, shape shiftters, dont' even know what they are, can do ghosts tho"

If you don't feel comfortable with any halloween themes for your books, maybe they can fit yours into some of the themes.

Plus, event one, is all about pages read, so any of your books can be used to that.

But, since this one is a team challenge, you need to check in the options that cadet blue are planning on their thread. And also let them know you want in.

Happy readings !

It looks that way...

message 62: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (engelsigh) | 1339 comments So am I correct in assuming that 4:00 pm BST converts to 9:00 a.m MST? I live in Arizona. I just want to know what time my books start counting.

message 63: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3273 comments I am sure that is right because I am Oregon and my time is 8 a.m. and in Arizona you are one hour ahead of me.

message 64: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments It starts at 11am in Massachusetts so 9am sounds right for Arizona.

message 65: by Kate S (new)

Kate S | 1998 comments Would Thomas Harris's The Silence of the Lambs qualify for the classic horror or the Masters of Horror theme?

Eni | 2349 comments ermhmmm i have a problem. i was gonna read The Colorado Kid by Stephen King but there are some editions listed as having less then 160 pages. I know i have an actual copy of the book somewhere but sadly i can't find it to check the number of pages.. so i may or may not have made a totally legal dl of the book which is the one i'm going to use. So can i get a ruling? :|

Okay, I updated the SU with some of the October Halloween Read-a-Thon info. Tomorrow I'll add page count.

Event #1 is on the left, Event #2 on the right (they are labeled at the bottom).

Team Members whose numbers are in light grey are not included in the Total.

If the numbers in a column are still in your Team's colors (as the example on the right), that means I do NOT have your info yet for that event... or I missed it!

Please double check - and let me know if you see any errors. Thanks!

You can keep record of the finish book in your team's thread. It will only count when the step is posted as complete, but it will help your team to know how many there are still to read to be able to complete the step.

Sonia and Lisa Kay have worked on the October Halloween R-a-T section of the SU again.

Please note your BAPs are totaled, as indicated by the red arrow in the screen shot below.

These now carry forward to the first and second pages (Summary and Summary Ranked in Order).

This is a dynamic spreadsheet, so we haven't updated pages just yet.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments Does this work for a Halloween-ish cover?

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

(Finally, a question I can answer.)

Hina wrote: "Quick question and its like 2 AM and I should be going to bed, but for spell it out themes, can we use the character or series name as well in addition to title and author?"

Yup.

According to Sonia's post:
(*) For spell-it-outs: use the first letter in the book's title (if the book starts with 'the', 'a', 'an', etc, you may use the first letter in the second word of the title), the first letter of an author's first or last name, or the first letter of a character's first, last or nick name.

message 98: by Barb (new)

Barb Her post doesn't say anything, though, about being able to use the series name. I'm guessing that's *not allowed?

message 99: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I'll allow it. Give a few moments and I'll change it.
