For those of us in for the Stephen King double feature, which one is everyone planning on reading first? Should we split up, so some start with Carrie first and some start with The Shining first? That way people who aren't planning on reading both have people to discuss with.

October works for me for Fault in our Stars. I have put it on reserve at the library but it looks like it will be a while so I'll check out the ebook.
Awesome, Stefani! I started it today. I've only completed the first chapter, so I can't really say how I like it until I get further in. :)
I have posted all the threads for the October buddy reads. There are five buddy reads this month. They are:The Emperor of All Maladies
Carrie
The Shining
Fatherland
The Fault in Our Stars
If I've missed any please just let me know and I'll get them added for you.
I'd love to read that Craig, I've been meaning to get round to that series for a while. I'd probably have to do it across both months with NaNo in November.
Maybe I'll join you on The Eye of the World! Will have to see how I'm doing with all my challenges though and I'm not sure if I want to start another massive fantasy series (next to A Song of Ice and Fire and The Dark Tower).

I think it would be inevitably split up depending on what the person wants to start first.
I've already read the prequel plus the first 8 Wheel of Time books, so those of you reading The Eye of the World should enjoy it. If anyone wants to read Winter's Heart, I'll probably get to that in November or December.
Anyone want to read A Storm of Swords with me. It is a long book so I was thinking over November and December.
Storm of Swords is the best one of the first three in my opinion. I loved it and I'm sure you'll enjoy it! Maybe we can keep reading the rest of the series as a buddy read as well? I'd like to read A Feast For Crows in the first half of next year.

Thanks Jodi. It's now been added.
If I can get through book 2 by then I'll be joining you for A Storm of Swords.I love these buddy reads.

Get through it! Get through it! I need help getting back to the book. I love it but I put it down and need someone to make me pick it up again.
Is anyone interested in reading Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts next year? I'm looking at reading it over a two month period so perhaps January and February.

great Craig. I'll add this right now.
I just acquired a lovely, illustrated copy of The Art of War. I think someone in the old buddy reads thread mentioned it - still any interest, for January maybe?
Jodi wrote: "Anyone want to read A Storm of Swords with me. It is a long book so I was thinking over November and December."Jodi- Ill get Clash of Kings done and I can start on Storm of Swords! It might be the middle of November before I get it done, but I'll work on it! Count me in for that one sometime in the next 2 months. Once I get to the Red Wedding part I KNOW it will go fast!!
I am so glad Alison! I have heard it is the best out of the first three books. I was supposed to read it with a friend of mine in the summer but had too many other reads. I really want to get it done. You just let me know when you are ready to start.
I've read the first 8 books, plus a prequel, of The Wheel of Time. Next on my TBR for this series is Book 9, Winter's Heart. I hope you all enjoy the beginning of the series!
Karina, I'll join you for The Art of War in January. I'll also join in for A Storm of Swords and The Eye of the World. I've been in a reading slump lately, so I'm looking forward to some good reads next month!
I have added The Art of War to January's buddy reads. Are there any other buddy reads for January and February?
I think I'll join you guys for The Art of War in January. I'm pretty sure my dad owns a copy I can borrow.
I went to go and buy the shinning last week and every shop was out of stock I will possible try again next week but I'd most likely make the shinning a December book if anyone is keen?

I'll be keen to give that a go for Jan

I bought mine at Costco for cheap, cheap in October. I have seen it even at Safeway lately.
I am thinking of reading
in December if anyone wants to join me. I am also thinking of
. Let me know if you are interested.
Hi everyone I got my hands on a copy of the shining :) anyone wanna buddy read with me In december??The Shining
If anyone is interested in reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society for either December or January, let me know! I've been wanting to read this for quite some time and would enjoy discussing it.
Hi Craig, I'll see how I go I have just started Scar Tissue so depends how busy I get over the next few weeks will let you know :)
Ashley wrote: "Would anyone like to read The Girl Who Played with Fire or Girl in Translation?"I have added The Shinning to the Dec/Jan schedule.
Hi Ashley. I would be willing to read Girl in Translation but it would need to be February or March. Would that be too late for you?
Ashleigh wrote: "Ashlee and Craig I'd also like to read The Shining for December/January!"Woops I just finished it def happy to be in the discussions though as it was an amazing book :D:D:D
Theresa, how are you going with Middlemarch? I'm finding it slow going personally. Do we want to continue with it in January?Brianna, I have added Fall of Giants to the February schedule. I read this book last year and really enjoyed it.
Zara, I've been busy with so many other books that I haven't gotten to Middlemarch yet. Do you want to table it until later?
By the way, I've read Fall of Giants and Winter of the World, too. Ken Follett is working on Edge of Eternity, the third volume of his Century Trilogy. I look forward to its publication in September 2014. I hope those who read Fall of Giants like it as much as I did.
