I started House of Spirits before too but didn't get very far because of other books. I should join in on this one to finally read this one.
I just checked our Library's website, and S. is in transit from the south side of the city to the branch near my home. I'll probably pick it up on Sunday when our Knitting Group meets at the library.
Just got my copy of S. it looks pretty cool I also found a guide of how to read it since it is complex, when the buddy read starts I can post it. Are we going for July start??
Tasha, Kara posted that we'll start S. in July. I just got the update that my copy is on the hold shelf at the library, so I'll pick it up on Sunday.
I got my copy of S. from the library today. The book was in its case and wrapped with a rubber band. I checked a couple of online lists, and all the inserts were there and in their right places. Tasha, I've read several suggestions on how to read the book, so I'm interested to see the guide you found.
Hello everyone.I have updated all the buddy read requests. I'm just now in the process of doing all the threads for them so please just bear with me.
Zara, can you extend Les Miserables for at least one more month? I'm over halfway through my audio book and should be finished early in July. Scott posted this morning that he's just started his and expects it will take 6 weeks.

Caro wrote: "I am planning to read in September The House of the Spirits is a little touch of Latin America in the current list of books that we have. Does someone will like to join?"I bought it now, so yes!!
Could I be added to the August Frankenstein buddy read, please? Been meaning to get around to it...Would anyone like to read Kindred in September with me?
I think I'm already down for bleak house. Please add me for Frankenstein for August and kindred for September
Lilac wrote: "I'd like to read Bleak House too, if I'm not already down. Love Dickens :)"Great!! Then we are at least three ^^ My first Dickens in novel form actually :)
I hope it's a good one then :) I'm terrible for signing up for so many 800-1000+ page books all at once though, but so far so good
Ariel (mot_avant) wrote: "When is Bleak House being read? I'd really like to join in but I don't want to bite off too much."August, fun if you join :)
Got you all listed in the relevant reads.I'm doing 'Bleak House' over two months due to its size. Does that work for everyone?
Great, I'd like to join for Bleak House as well. Two months works for me, I've got quite a lot to still go through this month and next so I might be a little slow with it.

Oooo! I haven't been back to Octavia Butler in so long! I would love to read Kindred with you!
I am not sure if I will manage to join Kindred on September but really want to read this book! I had never heard about Octavia Butler or this book (not born or live in US effect) Also if you have a Kindle or Kindle app look this post today Bookriot has it in a great discount follow this link http://bookriot.com/2015/07/09/book-r...!

Her books are the kind that just stick with you. I find myself thinking about them years after I read them. Not to mention how strong and fascinating her women characters are. I haven't read Kindred yet, but I really love her Parable of the Sower/Talents series. Enjoy!
Yeah, Octavia Butler is awesome. If any of you wish for more of hers after reading Kindred, I'll happily join a read of Wild Seed and the rest of the Patternmaster books!

The Fault in Our Stars in October sounds great to me. Sign me up.:Edited:
Dang it I was responding to a 2013 post.
Would anybody like to read it October 2015?
Kindred in September sounds great.
Thanks a lot for all that recomendations about Octavia Butler! Is so good to discover such great authors to me... These is one of the main reasons why I join this group... To learn to think out of my box.... I will really try my best to see if I can also join Kindred is Setember, but so far I can't promise anything...
Kindred is really roping me in. I think I'd like to join as well. It will be my first Octavia Butler and I'm really looking forward to it.
Kara: I read this about fifteen years ago, on my cousin's recommendation, and it was a gem. You should also try her ,'Parable of the Sower', when you are done with this one. If I join you in August Buddy Read, would 'Kindred' count as one of my 2015 novels, as it would be a reread?Enjoy 'Kindred'!!
Didn't see the post about two months, but that would be lovely! It's a huge work and it would be nice to take our time on it :)
I have an advice for all of you who will read Don Quixote. I had read it before and is quite a long book with a lot of important analysis to do to some of the chapters. Maybe it will be better is is extend for two months?
I would agree with Caro. I am reading it right now and am struggling to finish DQ in a month. It is not a quick read, regardless of which translation you use.
Don Quixote has been on my shelf for years. If we push it out to 2 or 3 months I would definitely be interested.
I would be interested in reading it as well. It's such a chunkster that I don't think I'd do it on my own.
A bit last minute but does anyone want to read To Say Nothing of the Dog with me for August? Scott, Kara & I read the first one last month, and it was brilliant, so I can't resist the second in the series for much longer. To Say Nothing of the Dog can be read as a standalone according to everything I've read about it (as all the Oxford Time Travel series can), with just recurring characters/occasional references to past books, so it wouldn't matter if you haven't read the first one.
Lulu, I already read it (I started it literally the same minute I finished the first), but if you and someone else read it together, I could participate in the discussion a bit.
Lulu, I'll read TSKoTD in August. I haven't read the first book, so I truly hope it won't be a problem. I love time travel books.
