Can I join for Jonathan Strange and Mr Norell? I've had this book on my tbr list for years now.

Shall we say July/August, a two-month read for Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, then, since everyone seems flexible? We can always extend it into September if we're all a bit behind at the end of that period :)Glad I'm not the only one desperate to get around to it, esp. before the BBC drama comes out.
Zara: Please put me out from Doomsday Book. I have a few things to organize that month and will not manage to do it :(

Scott wrote: "I signed up for doomsday book for June is there still anybody else besides myself for this one?"According to my list you and Lulu are down for the buddy read for this book.
If it's not too late, I would like to join the "To Kill a Mockingbird" buddy ready...Will grab my book this weekend along with the Goldfinch
I can't imagine why anyone would read Catch-22 for monthly buddy read. It is such a boring book from the 20th Century. It's the same thing in most of every Chapter plus it has way to many characters. After reading 100 pages nobody I think will go on to keep reading it and move on to another book in the 1ST. week. Spoiler alert since a second novel was written guess who lives at the end?

I can see what you're saying about Catch-22, but I personally enjoyed it, and there are tons of people in this group who have given it four or five stars.
Scott and I are both interested in reading S. by J.J. Abrams--it's a bit of a chunkster, so we were thinking maybe June/July through August/September? Would anyone else be interested? It's a very different kind of read, and you'd have to get a physical copy.
I'd love to participate. I hadn't heard much about it, but it sounds incredibly interesting. It would be great to read it together and "compare notes."I'd personally rather start in July, but I'd be okay with June too - I'd just have to order a copy from Amazon pretty quickly.
I'd be interested in reading S too! I've dipped into it a little already but it'd be good to get properly stuck in and discuss it.
This is on Ebooks however you'll have make do when reading the inserts with zoom. The physical copy is better. If buying a used Good quality copy just make sure the seller has included all the inserts. The slip cover will have more wear than the book. I bought mine used on eBay. Average price New and used $21-27 with shipping.
Kara Catch-22 wasn't really a bad book it was just poorly edited. There were good humor parts and very tragic parts write after. Making a 450+ page on plot that involves the main character to get out off the war doesn't make the reader to desperately wanting to turn the page. It took me a year to read mine. I read 86 pages before I stopped. My sole purpose to finish it was to say I completed it. For all the books in Listopia it is like No.1 or 2 as Least Finished Books Ever Read. I wonder just how many readers will just add to that the list.
Andrew wrote: "I accept the challenge and will attempt to read this book this year."I love that word attempt. This book has no suspense or mystery.
I want to personally thank any reader who is willing to take on S. as Summer to Fall Buddy read. I am at the library listening to Straka Radio Show 1 while logged on here.

This thread is hardly the place for extended exchange of opinion regarding specific books, though? It gets a little difficult to navigate with multiple entries unrelated to buddy read setups.
That's correct, Karina, and a good point. A better idea would be to start a discussion thread in the Let's Chat section and direct anyone who would like to continue the conversation there.
Cassandra wrote: "That's correct, Karina, and a good point. Is one of the books to read this month. I think that the discussion belongs to that page.
Anybody interested in readingThe Secret History by Donna Tartt in July
and
Bleak House by Charles Dickens in August

I would be interested in The Secret History in July. I need it for some challenges and next month would be great.
I still have it from all those years ago, now I just need to find the music I listen too the first time for nostalgia ^^
Zara is there anyway to see the upcoming reads other than scanning all the old posts? I've seen some discussed many months in advance.
Scott wrote: "Zara is there anyway to see the upcoming reads other than scanning all the old posts? I've seen some discussed many months in advance."Scott there is a special tread for that https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... Zara keeps here all the books that are coming in the next months.
Wow hard question. It's many years since I read Secret History. I remember being glued to it, but not much about the story in details. I think it is less sorrow. It is a bit weird in a good way. In a Tartt way;)
It has stuck however, stuck so much that I even remember skipping homework to read^^
http://www.theguardian.com/film/video...Wow! I just saw this video showing what you get when you purchase S.. Do you think that a book borrowed from the library will have all of this intact?
I'm intrigued. I just placed a hold at my library, and I'm #2 of 2 on the hold list. The library system has 5 copies, of which 3 are due back between June 23rd and July 3rd, so I should have one in hand for the July start.Kara, can you add me to S. in July?
Sadly I can't join this one, but just to put the atmosphere... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpjVg...
I am planning to read in September The House of the Spirits is a little touch of Latin America in the current list of books that we have. Does someone will like to join?
