I'm hoping to receive my copy this week. Now if only the shelf gods are on my side ... because I'm reading it regardless. LOL.Steph, I was looking over the shelf categories and my strange brain made the leap from "Itchy Witch" to "Unpack Your Adjectives". I don't know why! It's not even one of the lyrics. I couldn't get the darn song out of my head all weekend long. ... Well, it disappeared a few times, only to have "Uma Thurman" takes it place. The tagline of music sampled from The Munsters always make me smile, but between Fall Out Boy and Schoolhouse Rock, I was earwigged out. LOL.
You know what they say: (view spoiler)God I hate that we have to wait another year for the next one!
Wednesday = Shelf Day = Waiting Day = "Really long morning, but thank God it's after 3 (Central)" DayI'm really excited. For the past year and a half, I've been using the Kindle App on my desktop in order to read e-books. I've never owned a reader. I pet sat for 18 days this summer and decided to use part of the money to buy a Kindle instead of dumping it all in savings. It's supposed to be delivered tomorrow! Now I won't have to sit in an uncomfortable desk chair in order to read e-books. Maybe I'll be able to make a bigger dent in my TBR? ... Probably not. I'll probably download even more free and cheap books. LOL.
I debated for soooo long. Should I buy one? Which model to get? I want to use it as a dedicated e-reader and e-ink is easier on the eyes, so no Fire. The Voyage had more bells & whistles, with a price to go with those bells & whistles. But they just came out with Paperwhite 3 with 300 ppi, which puts the text quality up there with the Voyage. I can do without the flush bezel and the buttons on the side for half the price. So Paperwhite it is. And of course a pretty yellow case to protect it. I then had to convince myself it was okay to spend the money on myself for it. Which is kind of funny, since I don't blink an eye at spending money in a bookstore. It all adds up over time instead of being one big chunk.
Congrats, Daffodil! How's the ebook selection in your library? If it's good, having an ereader will pay for itself right away (not to talk about the convenience of carrying lots of books with you without the weight.)I'm sure you'll get the hand of freebies right away. Most of us get really excited about them when we first own an ereader but when you realize you're just cluttering your Kindle with books you'll never read, you stop doing that. ;)
I'll have to talk to my friends at the library about the kindle selection. I've already downloaded tons of free books with the App, I just never seem to get around to them because I'd rather sit on the couch or on the porch instead of at the computer to read. Although I did make some headway during the Freebie BSB round. :D

I am trying to separate them with Book Collection. The majority are freebies with a few pre-orders on favorite series. Love my Kindle! It is an addiction!

I went into digital books kicking and screaming and now I am hooked. I rarely read a print book anymore.
I held out until there was a backlit option. The whole needing a booklight for an ereader never made sense to me. The Paperwhite reads perfectly anywhere - full light outside or pure darkness. Love!
I have an old Touch, an even older Keyboard and an old Fire. I have been tempted to get a Paperwhite but I feel like 3 is already overkill. I got the Fire for my daughter but she prefers to read on her phone or laptop so I kind of took it over for myself, mostly for watching Prime videos.

My. God. I can't believe those exist! LOLOLOL!
Popping in to stalk and scream for "Shelf!"...Steph wrote: "I held out until there was a backlit option. The whole needing a booklight for an ereader never made sense to me. The Paperwhite reads perfectly anywhere - full light outside or pure darkness. Love!"
Neither the kindle Paperwhite or Voyager (or nook glow) are backlit devices. New technology completely, basically lighting going evenly across page like the best aimed and best sized book light. Shining just on the page unlike backlit screens shining into your eyes.

Now that's a man who really knows his new bride, Steph Ann!Yeah, that's what I meant, Debbie. A reader that provided its own light :D
Shelf's up!

I just queue up a few books at a time and there's always something to read. It's something you might be interested in looking into :)
Thanks Vivian. I know the library mentions Overdrive on their website with a link, but they don't have any instructions other than "You will need your library card number and PIN". Now that my Paperwhite has arrived -- I had it shipped to work instead of home and it came this morning -- I'll have to go to Overdrive's website and try it out.
Have fun, Daffodil! Envy you!(My local library's selection is quite limited in my reading-language...have to find another good international-subscribers-friendly one!)
Hopefully your library has a good selection, Daffodil! My libraries ( I have 3) are awesome so I rarely buy any ebooks now.
Judithe if you are in the states you can buy out of state library cards from the Free Library of Philadelphia and the Brooklyn Public Library. They are both $50 a year. They might have something is whatever language it is that you are looking. Obviously, I would look first. That's what I did before I joined. I looked up some books I wanted and what they cost on Kindle and quickly decided it was worth it to pay the $50 fee for both.
Mary, Judithe is in Japan, and she was a member of the Philadelphia library, though not sure if she still is. English is her preferred language :))))
