The Flooze (the_flooze) | 179 comments Well, I didn't say we shouldn't be crushing on him. :)

Melodie (melodieco) Anne wrote: "Michelle, you are not the only one out there who has a teeny tiny crush on Harry! I love all of the Dresdin Files! I can't wait until the next one FINALLY comes out!"

Oh, yeah, Harry's hot! But I'll let you guys have him and I'll take Thomas. I know he's bad, but I'll take my chances.

message 653: by Anne (new)

Anne Ooooh! Thomas! Yes, he's definitely not someone I'd kick out of bed for eating crackers!

Just started A Kiss of Shadows (Meredith Gentry, #1) today, and I'm hooked!

message 654: by Lynda (new)

Lynda I finished Vampire Kisses #3 & #4. I like the series for the character of Raven. Otherwise I would only consider them fair. Alexander is just too perfect. I actually prefer Trevor.

Anyway, I am taking a break from urban fantasy and am going to read A Sportscaster's Guide to Watching Football, by Mark Oristano.

Sorry I haven't been around for a couple weeks, I have been involved in an on-line trivia tourney.

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 179 comments On line trivia tournament? Sounds fun!

message 656: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2 comments I just finished the Anita Blake series. I just started the Mercedes Thompson Series. I'm reading Moon Called today.

So far so good, but I'm just starting.

message 657: by Paula (new)

Paula (pauldajo) I finished listening to A Touch of Dead and am now reading Merle's Door Lessons from a Freethinking Dog and The Gargoyle.

I agree on the Vampire Kisses books. At least Trevor seems to have some hormones! This series is just WAY to pure for me! One so called YA series that are definitely KIDS books!

Paula--how far are you into Merle's Door. I read it-was not at all what I expected.

I LOVE that series! Enjoy!!

I'm still reading Dreamfever and love it so far! Not quite halfway done yet but will likely finish by tomorrow...no work!

Lynda Michelle M. wrote: "On line trivia tournament? Sounds fun!"

It was. It also is frustrating. I used to be able to answer 90 % of the questions on Jeopardy. Now I am down to 50%. It also obsesses me when I take part in these things.

message 662: by Lynda (new)

Lynda Has anyone read the Magna version of Vampire Kisses?
Are they any better?

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) I am in agreement with the Vampire Kisses series--way to young for me and I DO like several YA series.

What is "Manga" btw? I could google it, but it is more fun just to ask...

message 664: by [deleted user] (new)

They are like Japanese comic books or rather graphic novels as they are now called, the art is like anime shows/ cartoons. They are very good and some of the plots are really good.

About four years ago I got into them, big cost of money for me because you can finish them in a few hours, I stopped reading them about two and half years ago I still like them though.

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) thanks levi. i thought that's what they might be like.

message 666: by Anne (new)

Anne I finished A Kiss of Shadows (Meredith Gentry, #1) last night. Wow. It was so different from what I was expecting! I liked it, though.

message 667: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 179 comments Lynda, I haven't watched jeopardy in ages. Maybe I'll avoid it so I can keep thinking of myself as smart!

Anne I'm starting my quest to finish the Anita Blake series today! Dum-dum-dum-dum! The Killing Dance is up next.

message 669: by Anne (new)

Anne Loved the Killing Dance! I'm taking a break from Anita and reading A Living Nightmare. Has anyone else read the Cirque Du Freak books?

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 237 comments How are you liking A Living Nightmare so far, Anne? I enjoyed it, but I think I'll like his Demonata series more.

message 671: by Valorie (new)

Valorie Has anyone read The Drowning City The Drowning City (The Necromancer Chronicles) by Amanda Downum by Amanda Downum? I'm curious because it sounds like it might be a good read and I would like to get some feedback before I buy it. Let me know if anyone has any comments!
Thanks!

I finished [image error] last night. I enjoyed it. Pretty spooky for a kids book! Is the Demonata series for kids, too?

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 237 comments Hi Anne. I don't think I'd recommend a kid younger than fifteen read the Demonata books. They are pretty intense, IMHO.

message 674: by Anne (new)

Anne Good to know. Thanks, Danielle!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 237 comments Your welcome, Anne.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 237 comments I just started Moonshine by Rob Thurman. It's good stuff.

message 677: by MsBeaglely (new)

MsBeaglely | 114 comments I decided to take a break from the UF/Paranomal Romance stuff so I picked up the latest John Saul from the library. I feel like I'm reading a V.C. Andrews book, it's so depressing. Everyone in the small town (and I do mean everyone) has the main character except the crazy book & the art teacher that everyone thinks is a witch. Oh well, just got notice from the library that my request for Frostbitten by Kelly Armstrong is ready for pick-up. Hopefully that will be better & it's an Elena story (even better).

message 678: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) Reading Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick . It's pretty good!

Emma (emmauk007) I am curretnly reading the Thirteenth Tale By Diane Seterfield, and also Book 3 Of Sookie Stackhouse.

After reading a few reviews I am going to check out the Dresden Files, seems a few people enjoy the series.

Julia | 615 comments I just finished the non-fiction Where Men Win Glory by Jon Krakauer that I enjoyed a lot; and I don't care much/ or know much about football. (It's about Pat Tillman who was a professional football player and enlisted in the Army Rangers, was killed by men in his own platoon in Afghanistan, and the coverup and lies about his death years later.)

Now I'm reading On the Edge by Ilona Andrews. Where Men Win Glory The Odyssey of Pat Tillman by Jon Krakauer

Good to hear about this book. I've been considering buying it for DH for Christmas.

message 686: by Lynda (new)

Lynda I took a break from A Sportscaster's Guide to Watching Football and read Enchanted Inc. by Shanna Swendson. It was great. One of the best books I've read in ages. I think I will read I will read Kindred in Death by JD Robb next.

message 687: by Anne (new)

Anne I going to try and start Burnt Offerings (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #7) today. I know a lot of you guys have read the Anita Blake series. At any point does Jean-Claude stop dressing like a gay pirate? I want to like him, but I can't get past his clothes! In what world does a sexy man wear lacy shirts?!

Theresa (tsorrels) Anne wrote: "I going to try and start Burnt Offerings (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #7) today. I know a lot of you guys have read the Anita Blake series. At any point does Jean-Claude stop dressing..."

I quit reading that series after The Harlequin and I'm sad to say that Jean-Claude was still wearing his lace. What a turn off. :(

Paula (pauldajo) Cherra wrote: Paula--how far are you into Merle's Door. I read it-was not at all what I expected.

Cherra, I'm about 50 pages into Merle's Door Lessons from a Freethinking Dog, it's not what I expected either. I'm glad I'm reading it though. A break from what I am currently reading. It's going to take me a while to finish it. It's more of a literary type book and I have to pay more attention to what is said. I like the pictures and I like dogs!

In one where he is so sure of his manliness that he knows he can wear something like that and tell the whole world to f*** off!! In my book, JC can get away with it!

message 691: by Valorie (new)

Jean-Claude probably remembers when you weren't a gentleman unless your shirt dripped lace. All the swashbuckling heroes dressed like that. It goes with swords, hats with long feathers and swirling capes. That was the 17th-18th century idea of macho. I think it's a gorgeous look myself. Oddly enough, I'm not a Jean-Claude fan. I love Asher and Nathaniel.

At least I'm not the only one, Theresa. Sorry, Melodie. Different strokes for different folks, and all that. After reading A Kiss of Shadows (Meredith Gentry, #1), I think Hamilton just has a thing for guys look and dress a little out of the ordinary. Oh well, I'm still enjoying her books!

message 696: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 169 comments I think Hamilton's taste in men runs to the "Is he naked?" requirement. LOL Honestly, Jean-Claude has never done it for me either. Maybe that's a factor in why I stopped reading. The sex became so focal, that I felt like the plot was lacking. Maybe its more that I don't care about sex with JC LOL And I hate what she's done to Richard *sigh*

message 697: by MsBeaglely (new)

MsBeaglely | 114 comments I used to love the Anita Blake series, but I too don't care what's become of the series with all the sex. I end up reading an Anita book about once a year or so. It's about all I can take. Last one I read was Cerulan Sins. I just wish Anita would pick one boyfriend/lover. I prefer Jean-Claude, but at this point I just want the orgies to end.

That's good, because I didn't really care for the first one. If they get better I will give them another try.

Right now I am thinking of reading Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews .

message 700: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Yes, Carrie, read Magic Bites. Lots of world building in this first book, but keep going. It will pay off.
