Yes, I plan to read Dr. Sleep as so many are. That'd be the perfect group read for October.
I'll also nominate Dr. Sleep...just finished rereading The Shining and will be reading it anyway.

I pre-ordered Dr. Sleep as well and would love to read that in October as a group read.

It's very informal, and anyone can discuss whatever aspects of the book that they want, but we would like people to use spoiler tags if they're going to discuss anything that could give something important away.

I would be starting it today except that I am trying to finish The Shining and haven't got my copy of Doctor Sleep yet! I preordered it and can't remember where I ordered it from...man, that's lame!
Enjoy it. I'll read it when I can afford to pick up a copy.

I preordered mine h/c from Amazon, and the status has said "shipping now" for the past 3 days.... I'm guessing it's still in a warehouse somewhere!
I read the intro in the latest issue of Cemetery Dance a few days ago and became immediately rabid with excitement about this release. But yeah, King's books are always way overpriced. Even the Kindle version is high but 20 years ago I was paying double for his hardcovers. Still, happiness would be a $2.99 SK novel release for Kindle. But when it comes to the shining this isn't just a release, it's an event :) !!!!!
My copy of Doctor Sleep was waiting for me when I got home. Now if I was just able to spend the night with a bottle of scotch, my slippers, my lazy boy and this book... But alas life does not stop for a new King book... Or at least my wife and kids won't let me....

I downloaded my Kindle copy on Tuesday on my way to work it was only slightly over $10 I didn't think that was unreasonable at all. I'm about 100 pages in
Just got my copy of Doctor Sleep for Kindle today. I'm not that far in yet, but loving the way it just hooks you from the get-go. Looking forward to the October discussion thread.
Ahhh I want to read it so bad but after hearing how awesome The Shining is I feel like I have to read it first! But I read fast so hopefully will be done in a few days and be able to start for Oct!!!! So excited!!
I have mine on my kindle but I REFUSE to begin until October 1. I am very rigid about such things. Some people say I'm no fun. They are correct.

I have mine already. But I have 1Q84 on loan from the library and am madly trying to finish it before it is due before starting Dr Sleep

I deliberately didn't start reading anything new in the couple weeks before Doctor Sleep came out. And finished reading The Shining earlier in the month. So now I can just jump right in. I love it when a plan comes together!

Luckily, a friend of mine gave me the ebook because I still can't remember where I bought the advanced hardcover? wtf? I thought I ordered it through Amazon, but I guess not. Cemetery Dance maybe? Crap.

LOL, Bill! I "gifted" my sister the kindle version, with the condition that she "loan" it to me first. (She has to re-read the SHINING first, anyhow). Then we find out that SK kindle books CAN NOT be loaned.....sigh!
I have not waited, I started reading and it's great. You guys go ahead and wait, I've waited too long already.

That is a bummer! For $12+ dollars for the Kindle ebook you should be able to loan it 10 times!! ;)

I'm another one who has already started Doctor Sleep. So far it's great and I'm REALLY happy that I re-read The Shining for the September group read. The two books really flow together almost seamlessly.
Already 150 pages into Dr. Sleep, but just picked up a copy of The Shining. Don't know whether to stop reading Dr. Sleep or read Shining afterwards. Any suggestions?
Ed I think you'll be ok. I'm about 150 pages in and while its nice having read the shining recently I don't think you're going to miss much. However if you have no experience with the shining whatsoever you probably want to start there. I'm just assuming everyone has at least seen the movie.
