SOLVED. Middle Grades Book About a Girl Who Doesn't Want to Go to Camp [s]

I read this book as a 9/10-year-old in the 90s. The main character is a tomboy, possibly named Linda or Lindsay, who doesn't want to go to camp and bunk with the prissy "mean girls," so on the way to camp she chops her hair off and pretends an administrative error got her put into a girls' bunk. She's moved to a boys' bunk and is successfully able to keep this ruse going for a while.
As I recall, one of the girls our heroine so despises is the owner of a large parrot named Pretty Boy, and there is a beautiful counselor named Aileen.
Please help!

I read it sometime around '95-'97--and I'm fairly sure it was contemporary.
