Oh no Mel. You just have to read Vampire Academy. I've heard about the merits of book 1 and 2, but each book gets more compelling as the series continues. Highly recommended.

Eric Northman from Sookie Stackhouse - he is just perfect in every sense of the word. He's gorgeous, sexy, totally lovable, manly, powerful, and will never have a financial care in the world.

Rhage from BDB - I don't know why but I can't help falling for him.

Edward or Jacob from Twilight - Edward because of his undying love for Bella, he would never do anything to hurt her. But Jake b/c well he is just so much more realistic, I could totally see myself falling for a real man like Jake.

And finally a non PR character would have to be Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights - I mean how can you not love such a tortured soul?!?!

I really think for the Darkhunter series it needs to be read chronologically.

I'd say this was a hard question, BUT to narrow it down to one of the series, i would choose from the sookie stackhouse series. Alicide herveaux and Quinn! Alcide is just plain yummm in the books, as well as Quinn has the whole weretiger sexy thing about him..

I agree, V's yummy! However, I'm not comfortable with bondage, though Ward did handle it quite tastefully.

As a matter of fact, if V was totally strait, with no tatoos, and didn't smoke, well didn't smoke cigarettes and drink heavily, THEN he would describe my husband! I married him LONG before I ever read any of the BDB books.

Quinn - Riley Jenson Guardians Series
Edward - Twilight series (i know i know this series is Seseame street compared to the other but i still love the edward)

I didn't begin reading Kenyon's books chronologically until 2006 or 2007. These later books become highly dependent on knowledge of characters gained in previous books, most of her earlier books have the strength to stand on their own. For example Vane, SOOO YUMMY!!, didn't require you learning he wanted to chase her down while guarding Sunshine. I also adore Wren with his shy yet aggressive behavior, OOOHHH, another winner for me. I am saddened that she’s nearly abandoned the Ware-Hunters. Bad Moon Rising really flushed out scenes from many books but Aimee and Fang lacked the heat that the two displayed in their books.

Tormented - unfortunately
Cumputer Genius - VP Communications as in the computer network (in high school he put together computers)
Warlord Offspring - GREAT I MISSED ONE!!! Yes, I didn't marry a vampire. Nor is he the son of a goddess, though if you met my mother-in-law you'd know she's a demi-goddess!

When my husband and I both couldn't leave work to pick up our children, my mother-in-law got off work early and drove about 2 1/2 hours in rush hour traffic to pick them up. She's taken me to the hospital while I was ill. She's taken off work to take care of my children and me over the years. While not a known goddess, she's definitely a demi-goddess! My father-in-law isn't far behind; he's changed more of my children's diapers than he changed of his own sons’.

I'm glad for you. How cool your inlaws are so nice and helpful.
As for the DH books. I promised a few GR friends I'd read Vane's and Zarek's books. I don't really like SK's writing style so I have trouble liking her books but I promised I would give those books a chance :)

Well Valerius and Zarek's stories are related in a way, so I could see it being them. They tell some of the same story from different sides (trying not to give too much away).

Valerius and Zarek's stories are intertwined. I concede that reading them both provides illumination on each character. Of note, I believe that Tabitha is the only one that Valerius allows to refer to him as Val. Valerius is uptight and formal. I have enough of that being with myself.

Vane, Wren & Zarek are my favorite SK characters. Valerius' story isn't bad, but he's just not my favorite character.

I think there's a great amount of humor and action in Valerius' story, even if you don't like him in particular.

Of course, I adored him, so I could just be biased.

Hum, if we are elevating GOOD mother-in-laws to demi-goddess standard. . . Then I think that MINE definately rated full Goddess standard. She died suddenly in 1988--heart attack from the stress of chemo (she'd been diagnosed with breast cancer about 6 months earlier) and to this DAY I still miss her. She always said that as a mother of only boys she knew she'd have to be extra good to HER daughters-in-law if she wanted to keep a relationship with her sons. Since she knew what their DAD was like, and all 3 were just like him. lol, she really WAS a wonderful woman.

Please don't get me wrong I LOVE Vane he's one of my favorites. (So is Val, Zarek, Wren, Xypher, Solin, a little Jericho and Ash pre-HEA) I was just thinking that trying to lure Mel to dark-hunter series, she would read DH books. Plus, I think besides Val being a great character, Tabitha is the kind of HEA that could her interest.

Ann - Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. Mine survived a heart attack because her boss and bosses boss noticed her "not feeling well" and called 911. This happened while I was being diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time - while pregnant with my son.

My doctors have been VERY careful with the chemo since they have learned that one chemo IS hard on a heart. Your goddess-in-law helped save my life. Thank you.

I'm a Laurell K. Hamilton fan and damn if that woman doesn't know how to bring to life some pretty incredible male characters. Frost or Doyle from the Merry Gentry Series or Micah and Richard from the Anita Blake series are some of my favorite leading men that I wouldn't mind taking home to met mom...lol!!

Yes, the Dark Hunter Series should be read in order, but I am sure they are just as good as "stand alone books."

I love to many character's to name ... I fall in love with whatever male main character of the book I am reading at the time! If it is a GOOD book. All though some had touched my heart more than others. :)
