SOLVED. YA set in Ancient Egypt, possibly "The _________'s Apprentice" [s]

The book I'm thinking of was young adult fiction. It was a chapter book that probably ran 150-200 pages. I read this book at least twice during the 90s. I can't remember much, aside from the fact that the protagonist was a young boy and they talked about the pyramids a lot. The dust jacket was black with yellow writing on the spine, and I think the cover was some Nile scene.

There is a YA by Pamela Service that is set partially in ancient Egypt and partially in modern America (orUK, I forget). It is called Reluctant God and stars a boy who is one of twin sons of the pharoah.

hmmm, doesn't sound right. That book sounds awesome though! The book I'm thinking of was set entirely in Ancient Egypt as I recall, during the time when the pyramids were being built (probably). I do think the author was female...

Summary: In ancient Egypt an unlucky young man meets a wealthy dragon and together they find dangerous but exciting adventure.

Not a picture of the Nile on the cover, was there a dragon?

You know what, this might have been it! I checked back in my book list (I'm such a nerd, in 6th grade I started writing down everything I read, but hey, it comes in handy), and I did read this one. I'm going to see if I can find a copy!
