Hmm. This doesn't really fit because this was a normally born man but could it be Replay by Ken Grimwood?(I'm quite sure this is not it but, along with The Time Traveler's Wife, I really enjoyed this book, so I thought I'd throw it out there. Good luck. It sounds interesting!)

You should read it. It's good! And I apologize: I generally try to give suggestions only when I'm reasonably sure they might be the right book and this time I was almost sure it wasn't. I do hope someone figures this out for you Rivka, because it does sound interesting.

Rivka, Don't give up hope. I've found a couple of books that took months, in one case I'm sure over a year, to find. Hopefully, you'll find this sooner, but bump it up if needed.
I don't know if this will help with the search, but having eyes of two different colors is called "heterochromia".
It is good to note; though only an uber-geek would use the medical term in his or her book review.

I seem to have invested myself in your quest probably because your description reminded me of components from two of my favorite books Abarat, Book 1 Abarat and The Time Traveler's Wife.
I doubt this book has enough literary merits for the folks in that group to have heard of it. ;) It was fun, but not great literature. ;)And it was actually read TTTW a couple years back that reminded me of this book. I've been trying to find it off and on ever since.

I have seen a few stories with two differently colored eyes; One was The Man Who Folded Himself (http://www.123infinity.com/books_page...)
then again, it also seems like I have "seen" this in an episode of the "Twilight Zone" (but as I get older, memories are starting to become a little fuzzy ;-)

Looks interesting, and it was published about the right time, but no. I may add it to my to-read list, though!
Two excellent candidates!The Sleator book is a definite to-read, and I certainly read lots of Sleator back then. But the protagonist had no siblings in the one I'm trying to find, so it can't be it.
The Danger Quotient looks barely possible. I think probably not, but worth the $4 to be sure. So I'm ordering a copy.

The Danger Quotient is by the same Annabel Johnson who wrote Torrie, a book I loved as a kid, a completely different type of book, but I think I'll check it out.

As far as I'm concerned, finding new books to read is an "Easter egg" of membership in this group. ;) Though I have to admit, I'm very curious about the book in question.

He was genetically engineered or somehow otherwise not normally born, with, IIRC, several genetic parents. There is a girl in the past that is part of the reason he keeps going back. It is NOT The Time Traveler's Wife, although like in that book, I believe he could not bring anything (including clothes) with him when he went back in time.
