L (lindenflynn) The White Stag (A Knight's Game #1) by Linden Flynn

I nominate my book, The White Stag, a YA fantasy novel.

Synopsis: Win and become the King. Lose your armor, lose your life. A kingdom in chaos, and countless men dead. When Cypress emerges from her village in the forest to seek her fate in the outside lands, she doesn't bargain on becoming part of the realm's politics with the Knight's Game. Twelve men were chosen for the Game, each with his own symbol, and the last one standing becomes the next King. One man wears the sigil of the white stag, an unearthly being from Cypress' own forest, that draws her into a world she never dreamed of. But when Cypress comes face to face with her spitting image, the father she never knew, she joins the Game to ensure his tyranny will not become law, all while hiding a secret that could get her killed - that she's a woman.

The Immortal Game (book 1) by Joannah Miley

When struggling pre-med student Ruby West beats the unconquerable Ash at chess he becomes fixated on her. Which is great if you like smoldering blue eyes, sculpted features, and afternoons of unexpected adventure. But not so great when she discovers he is a Greek god and his father, Zeus, has forbidden the gods from interacting with humans.

Ruby soon realizes her love for Ash threatens the fragile stability that has kept the gods from meddling in the mortal world.

Before long the two find themselves on a quest to rescue a goddess, save the Earth from unending winter, and secure the right to be together forever.

BR Kingsolver (brkingsolver) | 36 comments Please consider my new novel, Broken Dolls

Broken Dolls by B.R. Kingsolver

Private investigator RB Kendrick makes her living nailing cheating spouses, digging up other dirt to help in a divorce, finding long-lost relatives, and occasionally sniffing out criminal activity and fraud.

When she takes a job to find a missing girl, she has no idea she is headed for the most dangerous case of her career. Usually, her ability to read minds gives her an edge. But when the people she’s hunting are also telepaths, that advantage is limited.

The search takes her into the dark underbelly of telepathic society, where anything, and anyone, is for sale. She discovers that telepathic women and girls are being trafficked as the ultimate sex slaves.

With people trying to kill her, she’s on the run, not knowing who she can trust. Will she find the missing girl, or become a victim herself?

(The book has language and adult subject matter that is not appropriate for younger readers, although there is no erotic content.)

R.L. Craven | 6 comments Thanks so much for this! I'd like to nominate my own book, "Rumors of Wars". It releases in January. The synopsis is below, and you can find the first chapter here: https://www.goodreads.com/story/show/...

Bounty hunter Perish Blackburn has an unquenchable need to make money. The world is a dark, dangerous place in 2075, a place where only the strong and the wealthy survive. Perish is strong, but she wants to do more than just survive. And to do that, she needs money. Those without money are little better than slaves, a fate she is determined to avoid.

Fortunately for her, in a world where paranormal beings are literally falling at her feet, she has a unique arsenal of skills. Her talents are quite valuable, especially for someone who isn’t squeamish about putting those abilities to use, or particular about whom she uses them for. Things are going quite well and she’s on her way to accumulating another sizable sum of cash when she comes to the attention of the one organization that can totally derail her plans, end her life, and quite possibly, the world in the process.

They have need of a talent Perish has just discovered she has, and given that they’re not the kind of people you can just say no to, she has to figure out a way to say yes and live to tell about it. She’s pretty sure she can, even with the unwanted help of a werewolf with the disposition of an Old World gentleman, a housemate who can only be described as eccentric and a couple of relatives who have been dead for centuries.

message 79: by Stanley (new)

Stanley McShane (stanleymcshane) I'd love to add for consideration the book I published posthumously for my grandfather, Hot Air Promotions, by Stanley McShane, considered a historical fiction. Reads like an autobiography--isn't--but he did a lot of mining and failing that investing in mining and oil stocks out of the San Francisco Mining Exchange. He dropped a lot of 1920's/30's names of some major early western characters.

message 89: by Jaymin (new)

Jaymin Eve (jayeve) | 2 comments Hi, I'd like to nominate book 1 in my series :) First World (Walker Saga, #1) by Jaymin Eve

A young adult paranormal romance series.
An epic journey.
If the Seventine are released, will anyone survive?

Abigail Swish might not love her life, living in gang-ridden New York in 2035 and training to fight and survive with Compound 23. But she is grateful for a few things, especially her no-filter-between-brain-and-mouth best friend Lucy and her escape each night into a dream world far different from her own.

In fact, sometimes she lives for the fleeting moments she spends at night with the man who fuels every romantic fantasy she’s ever had. But each morning reality returns. She could just cry. But she won’t of course; tears don’t change a damn thing.

Then without any warning, a month before her eighteenth birthday, everything does change. A guardian finds her. He explains, in a strangely familiar accent, that she was stashed on Earth for safekeeping and has been lost to her family ever since. And it is time to return home. To the First World; a land of unimagined beauty.

Abigail and Lucy find themselves escaping New York, ending up on another planet and traversing through an unforgiving wilderness. Yeah, because that sort of thing just happens every day. Luckily, an unexpected saviour arrives; the man from her dream-world. Brace is six-and-a-half feet of gorgeous perfectness, wrapped in an arrogance like no other. Unable to trust his assistance, and unsure which of her instincts to follow - kiss him or punch him in the mouth - Abigail eventually accepts his help to find her family.

And what a family. Enter Josian, her father; larger than life and apparently not even human. He is Walker, a planet-less race revered as gods, causing mischief and mayhem through-out this star-system. Unfortunately, there is no time for a cosy reunion, since no one explained that by returning to First World her half-Walker genetics would act as a catalyst setting forth a chain of events which could spell disaster for not only her existence but that of all worlds.

First World is book one in the Walker Saga, a seven-book paranormal fantasy.

message 90: by Todd (new)

Todd Utley (acetron) | 5 comments I feel a little odd about suggesting my own book but the moderators sent me here to do so....

Please consider my work, Restoration, Immortality Begins. It is the first in a trilogy and is based in the near future and is somewhat post apocalyptic. I say that because only portions of the world were destroyed. Here is the back cover synopsis.

The year is 2056. The world is still recovering from the pandemic of 2027 when a meteor borne virus wiped out half the population. Cloning has been legalized in a desperate attempt to save humanity. Dodge Kerrington, a renowned Electronics Engineer leads his team at Embedded Systems Specialist in a race against their competitors. They must design and perfect memory transfer for the Human Cloning Process. ESS prevails by creating the first successful system that records IHE (individual human experience) as a LifeFile that uploads into the brain of a newly grown clone. ESS launches the system and human immortality is born. Disease Treatment Centers are bankrupt. Hospitals and Clinics convert to LifeCenters, all in the business of providing Restoration services. Funerals are nearly unheard of, only hardcore religious hold outs choose natural death over Restoration. Enter the world of High Tech Industrial Espionage with Dodge Kerrington and his best friend and security expert John Calhoun as they fight for their very lives against criminal master mind Cyrus Slade and his partner, a world renowned hacker known only as "Glitch" who desperately desire to obtain the new technology and the incredible power that comes with it. It's an all out battle for control of Restoration and the minds of those that created it. In a high tech game of murder, hacking, and unbridled greed, the future of humanity hangs in the balance.

And the amazon link... there is also a sample of it (about a third) right on goodreads on my page.

Thanks for considering! Todd D. Utley

message 91: by Madhuri (new)

Madhuri Pavamani | 10 comments Please consider my book, THE GIRL. It's the first book in the paranormal trilogy I'm developing called The Sanctum.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Here is a synopsis:
The Sanctum, an all-powerful governing body founded by ten families, entrusted to maintain the peace amongst Magicals and ensure the ignorance of humans, has been corrupted by greed and savagery for generations, but is all Wyatt Clayworth has ever known.

Dev, the hybrid demon prophesied to bring an end to The Sanctum and destroy the world for Magicals and humans alike, is not what Wyatt expected to find when sent out on his latest mission. Believed to be hunting a killing machine, Wyatt finds little more than a broken girl with haunted eyes and a bit of a death wish. Drawn to one another for reasons they cannot begin to explain to themselves, much less anyone else, Wyatt is determined to protect Dev and help her realize her mission to avenge the deaths of her family at the hands of The Sanctum.

Set against the backdrop of New York City, THE GIRL is described as "outstanding, original, complex, deep and intoxicating", a "well written, unique...fast-paced read" that begins as one girl's simple quest for revenge and evolves into a complicated tale of trust, friendship, honor and love.

message 92: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Chatwin (margaretchatwin) | 9 comments I'd be honored if you'd consider the book Erased Erased by Margaret Chatwin

Here's the back cover synopsis:

There’s that moment – you know the moment – when you emerge from sub-consciousness and enter full awareness. Now imagine reaching that moment with a pounding head, throbbing body, hospital ID band around your wrist, and no memory. No idea why you hurt the way you do, or how you got where you are. No clue what your own name is, or who the people next to you are.
I’m seventeen-year-old Ryan Farnsworth, and that’s what happened to me. Now I have to walk a mile in my own, unfamiliar shoes; view myself through the eyes of a perfect stranger; live the life a former me chose. I also need to figure out why that former me tried to kill me.

At the inn, Jenna can finally relax and develops feelings for two men: Quentin, who reminds her of the past and Caleb, who, while exotic and intoxicating, is not quite human.

message 98: by Alicia (last edited Mar 09, 2014 02:16PM) (new)

Alicia Kobishop (aliciakobishop) I would like to nominate my book, The Fine Line by Alicia Kobishop for BOTM. It is a mature YA contemporary romance.

Liv, the MC, turns 18 in the book, and has built a barrier the size of the Great Wall of China around her heart. Every man/father figure she has ever loved…has left her in one way or another, leaving her completely jaded. That, mixed with Logan’s dangerous career choice (street racing), is why it’s so hard for her to let Logan in. Will she take a risk and open up to him? And if she does, will she end up losing him to racing regardless?
