Recommendations for Indie BOTM

Anyone can post, and the mods don't have to use these suggestions (I will though!), but they can use it as a resource for picking the indie BOTM.
I have some suggestions. I will also enjoy looking at the suggestions that are posted. Should I list them or just do 1 at a time?

I have a few to add as well. :)

Hey Alyssia, thanks! Will second my own I, the Provocateur

After a devastating plague, introverted 17-year-old Dani Campbell and her family find themselves living in a very different America, one run by a cult-like leader, who forces children to move to "safety camps" designed to protect the human race. Encouraged to flee by her parents, Dani and her five-year-old brother seek refuge in the Black Hills of South Dakota. On the run with danger around every corner, Dani must fight to ensure their survival in this new world while trying to unmask the mystery of how it all came to be.

Definitely. Nominate and second as much as you want. This won't go to a formal poll, it's just a way to put suggestions out there. :)

Hope the Group will give Captain Nathan and Cate a read, "The Pirate Captain" is the first book in a series; adult historical fiction with a twisted love story. Historical Novel Society called it "an irresistible shaggy dog saga... marvelously entertaining..."

Some other Indie books and authors (in many different genres) I can recommend are:

It's the first in my zombie book series. I wrote it while I was deployed to Iraq in 2007. It's about a soldier deployed overseas during the zombie outbreak, he does everything he can to try to make it back to his family in the U.S. The sequel, Z Plan: Red Tides, is with my editor and will be released soon.

I would love if you'd consider my ebook, Monsters of the Apocalypse .
A tribute to the action packed paperback novels of Heinlein, Bester and Vonnegut (with a little dash of modern graphic novel sensibility), "Monsters of the Apocalypse" is a fast and fun ride through an apocalyptic future filled with monsters, assassins and baked goods.

Bleeding Shame
Has a world altering invention become temptation for murder?
A vicious killer, an improbable story, and a shattering scientific discovery, mingle to create a cocktail of deceptive intrigue.
A bright young woman's death has been framed to look like an act of rage during a call-girl rendezvous. A tired, disillusioned cop, her only hope of redemption. Layer upon layer unfold to reveal a conniving conspiracy of global proportions; a conjuring of convoluted wicked twists.
Stacey Cornish has been murdered, and her killer has done very little to hide his identity. When his body washes up on the bank of a local river, Detective Frankie Harlow is unconvinced that the man committed suicide. However, when his family come under-fire in a series of vicious attacks aimed at dissuading further interest, Frankie knows that there is more to the murder than first meets the eye. Stacey was a biochemist working on a cure for cancer, perhaps her death had something to do with her research rather than the frame-of-facts posed by the killers.
Bleeding Shame is a compelling story that will grab you at the start, pull you along at a breathtaking pace, and shock you senseless with the questions it poses, and the answers it finds. Heart-wrenching, scary and sometimes humorous, it never fails to impress.
Thanks for allowing this!

I read the excerpt from the Goodreads' page and the military-style plot was very tense and compelling with just the assassins, haven't even gotten to the monsters or baked goods yet!

It is on NetGalley here (and it is an ARC so it does have errors): https://www.netgalley.com/catalog/sho...

Outside That Door

Brianna will inherit everything - if she can play by the rules. Instead she rejects yet another fine noble of the Faelands in favor of a half-Fae commoner.
The House of Oreveille has been without a Defender since her father’s death in the jotnar wars. Her mother’s drunkard second husband has neglected his duties; the estate has fallen into decay and rumors are flying that the grand house of Oreveille, protector of the border between Gaia and the Faeland for thousands of years, may soon fall.
How much will Brianna be forced to sacrifice to protect the life – and the man – she has chosen?

Thanks Vardan! I want to add that if you guys pick Tent City, I am offering free PDFs, Mobis or Epubs until the end of October or middle of November - up until the release of the sequel in anticipation for the release. Thanks a bunch!

I would also be willing to create a smashwords coupon for the group, so that readers interested in joining the discussion could read it for free.
The synopsis is:
Is control over the elements a gift, or a curse?
Roxy thinks that she is in control of everything: with flames flaring at her fingertips and an equally fiery attitude, what more could she need? But then she meets Brae, a prince from a rival Realm, who turns her assumptions of superiority upside down.
Jasmine has none of Roxy’s confidence or intensity. But she does have a secret - and Brae - and she’s not going to give either up willingly.
Thank you for such a great opportunity.

The Final Warden is the first book of the Gifts of Vorallon trilogy.
The world of Vorallon is failing. Hordes of demons destroy cities and everyone who lives in them. The raiders of Zuxra, foul men who answer only to their mad queen, conquer and enslave all that remains. As all descends into darkness, the Old Gods sleep, but they have entrusted the survival of Vorallon to the gifted.
The gifted are people blessed with unique abilities fueled by the strength of their spirits.
Lorace is one of the gifted, a hollow shell of a man, scarred by demons and bereft of all memory. Lost on a desolate shore, the only clue to his destiny, and his past, is a sphere of dull silvery metal he holds. A mysterious call draws him north, toward the last bastion of light that exists upon Vorallon, the fortress city of Halversome—the next target of the Queen of Zuxra and the gifted people who do her bidding.

The Boy who Lit up the Sky

In one of Plato's discourses he speaks of the legendary kingdom of Atlantis and its people, who lived in peace with their human servants and also dragons, until a great war destroyed their civilization and killed all the dragons off.
But the dragon-ghosts returned to the fleeing survivors, who soon discovered they, and the children of the humans they bred with, could give strength to these ghosts. The dragon-ghosts could then transmute wood into a material hard as steel but still light as the original wood, create different types of fire, heal, and more. In time the Atlantians vanished but their part-human children lived on, feared as sorcerers and forced to hide.
But now the world has changed. The church has accepted them and those with the power are grudgingly becoming accepted by those fully human, with a young apothecary apprentice living a quiet life as a healer in the Spanish town of St. Augustine. But his life is about to be turned upside down. For young Tomas is far more powerful than anyone with the power should be and the world is beginning to notice.
As is the one who caused the destruction of Atlantis so long ago...Chronicles of the Dragon Pirate

Thanking you in advance. Truly, Jeannie Walker
"Deepest Doors
Two sets of fugitives Two sets of enemies One bizarre encounter When a chance collision with a beautiful woman in Central Park results in a head injury, international business consultant James McBride's perfectly structured and rote life suddenly begins to unravel as he learns that every memory he has seems to be false and, in fact, he is not the same person that he thinks he is. James McBride is a workaholic who thinks his life is almost perfect the way it is. He goes into the office early, stays late, works weekends, travels to exotic locations and has no ambitions of a wife, girlfriend or any type of social life. With a spectacular Park Avenue apartment and all the material goods a person could want, he is content with his seemingly perfectly planned, albeit one-dimensional, existence. All of this changes one afternoon after a collision with Sarah Plummer, a beautiful and free-spirited woman, forces him to 'break routine'. Injured and dazed by a fall, she helps him to her apartment to rest. He awakens confused, only to be talked into doing something he could not ever recall doing; taking the day off. By the next day, they find themselves being pursued by people from his firm, singularly intent on killing her and capturing him. Only by a bizarre encounter with Bob Eaton, a white-hat computer hacker and security consultant, himself on the run from the mafia, does he begin to unravel the reason for these events, and understand how they can confront their respective enemies. Deep in the mind, beyond the deepest doors, is the truth.
ISBN 193986576X (ISBN13: 9781939865762)

It's action/adventure/fantasy and in the YA genre. The book is inspired by my love for Martial Arts and the reader will be taken on a ninja-fighting adventure! The book's summary:
Enter the feudal world of Shaaku Den...
A world that used to be peaceful until the uprising of the evil geisha Black Rose and the ruthless warrior Rengoku. Together the two are the Blackthorn Clan and they have turned Shaaku Den into their battlefield, conquering and killing the innocent for their own gain. Blackthorn has instigated destruction and the only ones left to fight back is the surviving Kitsune Clan.
Follow the adventures of six young individuals who are now soldiers in the legendary Kitsune Clan. Do they have what it takes to be a warrior and fight against Blackthorn? Can they save their world from Black Rose's evil thorns? This is a time of war in Shaaku Den— seen through the eyes of six unlikely youths. Will they overcome the trials of warfare?
The book is written in 1st person and the reader will get an insight into the six main characters as it switches from their points of views throughout. It's the first book in the current Shinobi 7 series I'm writing.
Thank you very much for reading this post! :)
