Please suggest a graphic novel (only one suggestion per member) for our 22nd Book Club discussion (for the month of October). You can post it in this thread up until the next several days.

After that a poll will be set up for the members to vote and decide what we will discuss next for October 2013.

Allen Rubinstein (allenrubinstein) | 76 comments Paul Auster's City of Glass, by Dave Mazzucchelli.

I'd list this as one of the top ten graphic novels ever written. I argue it's the superior book to Asterios Polyp. A tense and surreal urban mystery, rather than spin your head with cheap plot twists, it reveals layers about its world and characters. It's as pure a comics experience as you're likely to get.

Planning a feature article on this one.

Kevin Izworski | 75 comments Not sure if either have been done yet, but how about Will Eisner's Spirit... or maybe Marvels.

message 5: by Josh (new)

Josh Perks | 15 comments I have just read Hicksville by Dylan Horrocks and loved it. Should spark a whole lot of discussions about comics etc.
The Gigantic Beard That Was Evil by Stephen Collins was also excellent and worth discussing.

If its only one suggestion then Hicksville gets my vote. There is so much in it to talk about.

Nathan City of Glass sounds interesting

message 32: by Rosa (new)

Rosa | 23 comments I'm not sure if it counts as one selection or two since it seems like they are meant to be read together but what about Boxers & Saints by Gene Luen Yang.

If it counts as two selections then Boxers since it seems like it might be meant to be read first.

message 33: by Greg (new)

Greg (gregbmarcus) | 1 comments October screams horror to me. How about Locke and Key?

message 34: by Adam (new)

Adam | 130 comments We've done the first volume already, back in June 2011. Feel free to add to that discussion here.

Might be worth suggesting the second volume though?
