Paul Auster's City of Glass, by Dave Mazzucchelli.

I'd list this as one of the top ten graphic novels ever written. I argue it's the superior book to Asterios Polyp. A tense and surreal urban mystery, rather than spin your head with cheap plot twists, it reveals layers about its world and characters. It's as pure a comics experience as you're likely to get.

I have just read Hicksville by Dylan Horrocks and loved it. Should spark a whole lot of discussions about comics etc.
The Gigantic Beard That Was Evil by Stephen Collins was also excellent and worth discussing.

I'm not sure if it counts as one selection or two since it seems like they are meant to be read together but what about Boxers & Saints by Gene Luen Yang.

If it counts as two selections then Boxers since it seems like it might be meant to be read first.
