LOL!
Currently reading the first Odd Thomas book and loving it!
Currently reading the first Odd Thomas book and loving it!I have this problem with Koontz that I should love his books, the stories are right up my alley but after I finish one of his books I'm either indifferent or think they're just merely okay. But this one I love, so it's put on my active series list.

I almost never like the books I'm supposed to.
I finally started reading something! Fingers crossed that I finish it.
I read the first Odd Thomas book last year and quite liked it. I've been meaning to read the second one, but just haven't gotten around to it. Maybe after my bookclub read.

I liked the Odd Thomas books. I also watched the movie with Anton Yeltsin after reading the first one. It put the first book in perspective and gave something to visualize as I was reading the second book. Interesting concept and just fun reads.

I finished Odd Thomas last night. I loved it. I saw there was a film, which I really want to see. I just bought the second book in the series, though it will probably be a little while before I read it. I saw that the seventh, and final AFAIK, book is going to be released in a week and a half.

Windwood Farm by Rebecca Patrick-Howard. An enjoyable paranormal ghost story. I'm not sure if it's enjoyable enough to continue with this series, but I'll keep the second book on my Amazon wishlist just in case.

Which means my GoodReads challenge is completed.
Although officially I only said that I wanted to read at least 100 books for the GR challenge my real challenge was to enjoy myself, no matter how little of many books I ended up reading.
Although officially I only said that I wanted to read at least 100 books for the GR challenge my real challenge was to enjoy myself, no matter how little of many books I ended up reading. However, having finished 100 books and having one month of reading left in the year I'm wondering what to read. I'm tempted to go for one of the longer books that has been on my TBR list for a while. Or shall I indulge in some quick and easy reads (busiest month of the year for our store).

Pick something that you think will make you happy. I'm all about the happy this time of year.

Congratulations on finishing the challenge. I'm in garbage time now too so I tried the book club from MobileRead and now I'm reading Soul Music by Terry Pratchett.

     Criminal by Karin Slaughter.
Criminal by Karin Slaughter. We finally get to know what happened to Will Trent's parents, how he became an orphan. We also get the story how Amanda (Will's boss) and Evelyn (his partner's mother) got on the force and their first experiences.
Just one short story and a full novel to go in this series. I'll probably read those this year.
I just got the Horrorstör Pbook. Both my father and a salesman visiting thought it was the Ikea catalogue :)

     The Seance by John Harwood.
The Seance by John Harwood. An okay story. I liked it that the ending wasn't what you thought it would be.
I seems that at the moment I have trouble getting into books. It took me 3 days to read 50 pages, after that I finished it within 2 days.
I had planned to read Horrorstör next, but with my sort-of-reading-block I'm going to read the next Vera Stanhope book, hopefully it'll get me back on track again.
 Silent Voices by Ann Cleeves.
Silent Voices by Ann Cleeves.Another great Vera Stanhope book. I love Vera and in this book we finally get to see more of her sergeant Joe Ashworth. However, he isn't as sympathetic as in the tv series. It's a shame there are only 2 more books to go in this series.
 Busted by Karin Slaughter.
Busted by Karin Slaughter.A nice short story. I usually don't like short stories in series, often they don't feel like a proper story. Karin Slaughter is the exception to this. She also manages to insert a bit more humour into these short stories by revealing funny personality traits of the characters.
Now reading the latest book in the Georgia series.
 Unseen by Karin Slaughter.
Unseen by Karin Slaughter.A great book in the Will Trent/Sarah Linton series.
It's the latest in the series so having finished it I now only have 5 active series, which must be a first for me.
 Floating Staircase by Ronald Malfi.
Floating Staircase by Ronald Malfi. An okay mystery ghost story. Not that scary and the twist at the end isn't a big revelation. But entertaining nonetheless.
The Blight of Muirwood by Jeff Wheeler.
The Blight of Muirwood by Jeff Wheeler.A good second book in the Muirwood trilogy. I like this fantasy trilogy because the books are shorter than normal trilogies and series. Yet they still tell a good and full story. I might read the last one before the end of the year.
I'm now reading the latest in the Merrily Watkins series, a novella, by Phil Rickman. After than I don't know what to read. At the moment it's a choice by Capote's In Cold Blood or Deaver's The Bone Collector. Or I might buy one of the crappy horror fluffs on my Amazon wishlist.
The House of Susan Lulham by Phil Rickman.
The House of Susan Lulham by Phil Rickman.A great novella. I can't wait until the next full Merrily Watkins novel.
Still feeling a bit lost about what to read, in the end I chose In Cold Blood. And although I'm liking it I just can't concentrate on it properly. It's probably the time of year.
The After House by Michael Phillip Cash.
The After House by Michael Phillip Cash. The cover and blurb promised a scary ghost story. In reality it was a mystery with a ghost as one of the main characters and a bit of romance and a pair of angels thrown in. Not good, not bad, but very predictable. Luckily it was only just over 150 pages long.
It really shouldn't make a difference because for my reading next year I'm planning the same as this year but I'm so ready 2015.
It really shouldn't make a difference because for my reading next year I'm planning the same as this year but I'm so ready 2015. I know which books I want to read first in 2015 (just not what order), but I haven't a clue what I want to read after I finish my current book.
 The Line by J.D. Horn
The Line by J.D. HornEntertaining paranormal fluff. Just what I need this time of year. I already bought the other two books in this series because I liked it so much.
I just discovered I'm only 8 pages behind last year's record (43958 pages). I'm about to start the second Odd Thomas book, which is short (less than 300 pages). Normally I would be able to finish it within 49.5 hours but if it's going to be busy in the store I might work the next two day full time and if it's as busy as last week I won't have much energy at night read for several hours.

So I might not (officially) break last year's record.

I'm totally there. I'm just not reading anything right now and generating a good book hunger to start the year.

I had hoped I would be able to finish my Odd Thomas book, but that ain't happening. So I'm now on the hunt for a nice short(ish) story which I will be able to finish before midnight tomorrow. Some might call that cheating but I just want to beat last year's record.
