How old are Doug and Lil?

Doug is in eighth grade. Which is probably around 14.
At Ms. Windermere's house, Mr. Gregory ask Lil how old was she, and she said she was 25.
Doug and Lil are dating (at least in how far I got in the book--200 or so pages).
I'm confused about a 14 year old and a 25 year old dating. Did I get anything wrong..?
