The temperature makes me think it's August already.
HOttest driest start in forever. Maybe August will be unseasonably cold? :)
If unseasonably cold means we'll get under 100F, I'll sign up for that! We've hit a record for the most consecutive triple-digit temps.
It's been relatively nice this summer, so far, here in Belleville, IL. unlike last year!One book in the lead on my list. And that's the one about Edward I.
Wow! Looks like the race is pretty close.
The book about King Edward I is still in the lead with 3 votes.

Perri, I saw your notes in the other threads. I didn't realize how "twisted" my list was. :-) Funny, but I voted for Afraid for Lynn. And I added it to my TBR.My husband thinks I'm plotting his demise by reading all these books.

I'm taking an August break on PIFM. Summer seems to be so busy I am not keeping up my reading speed. Therefore, no lists, no votes but I intend no offense.

My DH thinks you need to mix in some humor and easy reads. He thinks all the serial killer books must affect the brain.
BTW, some great choices this month.
I do find that if I read too many thrillers/horrors in succession my thoughts do feel ever so slightly darker as I think about the nutters in the world so I balance things out by reading something lighter and completely different from time to time!I second what Lisa said, there are some great lists (as usual)!

Great list this month. I have been dying to read I Let You Go but I didn't think it was available in the US until next year, how did you get your hands on a copy?
Christine, Lisa, Sophie, The Din DH can stand for a number of things depending on mood ;) I totally get that too many horror/crime etc. affects my mind. It reminds me of that Nietzsche quote, when you gaze too long into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you-yikes!Pat, totally understand. When it feels like pressure, it's no longer fun! HaHaha... I basically did a close the eyes and point a finger to make my list this month. My list is made up of free books, I have this problem trying to ignore BookBuzz and digitalbookstoday.

The last 2 games by the Pirates were awesome!!! Won in extra innings against the Cardinals! Baseball fever now!!!

The Twins came back from a 6-1 deficit in the 9th to win 8-6!! And I had turned it off when it was 6-0 in the 4th!

Stefanie - hope you like them. Sue from Toronto is also ordering through bookdepository. They have done good with me. It takes about 1 week to get the books but from England to South Dakota - a week is good! I have no patience to wait over 1 year for the British mysteries.

LOL. it was one of the videos featured in the YouTube series ELDERS REACT TO... and all but one of the elders voted for either Wallace or Washington while one said it was a tie, just like you did.

So? I just want to know if anyone heard anything about what/how the Cardinals are doing this season.Too lazy to look it up in the paper and I keep missing it on the St. Louis NPR affiliate, KWMU.
Don't really know... they're in the NL... so, I don't hear much unless they get in trouble.
St. Louis Cardinals are in the lead for central NL. Pittsburgh Pirates (my team) are 2 1/2 games behind them.
