That of Trollope is one of my favourite of the Palliser series!

Oh my, which reminds me, I still haven't read it either! No way of fitting it into the remains of September or October though unfortunately. Hope you enjoy it!My next book will be We Have Always Lived in the Castle once I've finished reading Middlemarch, which I really enjoy a lot.

I've been given a book las week end by a friend and I've decided to read that now that I've finished One for the Money; it is a british writer but I can't remeber nor his name nor the title of the book!!!!

Great book! I liked it a lot. Don't expect action though, it's a nice picture book, if you see what I mean!
And now? I think I'll start a bit ahead some of the books for next month: The House on the Strand today or tomorrow.

It was given me by a friend two weeks ago in Bologna. We are a group of "reader friends" which meets more or less once a year. We go around the town we've decided to visit, stop at a restaurant where we eat and "swap" books: each of us has a book wrapped in newspaper, and we pick up a book we don't know what it is. Mine this time was this, and I have to say that it was a pleasent surprise!!!

"Reader Friends" and their meeting once a while and the exchange of books wrapped in covers - Seem very interesting.
Our local library once did a "write a review" lucky dip a bit like that. All the books were individually wrapped in brown paper. You took out a book from the lucky dip bin, read it, then wrote a review which was posted on a notice board. I thought it was quite fun.
I've just borrowed The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie from the library. I've been intrigued by this book and meaning to read it for years, so I'm looking or ward to it!
Vicann wrote: "I've just borrowed The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie from the library. I've been intrigued by this book and meaning to read it for years, so I'm looking or ward to it!"I liked that when I read it in Feb. although I think my favorite Spark novel is Loitering With Intent.
I have a couple of mysteries from the library - Hypothermia, The Fire Engine that Disappeared, and The Widow of Jerusalem.
@ Leslie, if I enjoy The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie then I'd like to read some of Muriel Spark's other books, so thanks for that recommendation!
LauraT wrote: "A part from The House on the Strand I want to start We Have Always Lived in the Castle"Ha ha, same here, Laura! Again!
Wuthering Heights for Bookworm Bitchesand
A Shadow of Lilies for my new group that I just started, The Good Free Nook Books. (FREE Nook books with decent reviews that I've found by sifting through bn.com for hours.)
I'm still reading Defiancewhich is pretty good. After I finish that one, I'll go back to The Shape Of Fear, And Other Ghostly Tales. Then I'll figure out what to read after that. I'm still excited to read The Fall of the House of Usher and Other Talesfor my readalong coming up in October on the 20th. It's my first one I have ever done so I hope it'll go well.
Next for me will be either Rosalind Franklin: The Dark Lady of DNA or The Widow of Jerusalem (both library books with rapidly approaching due dates!).
Charbel wrote: "I think I'll read Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie next. Really looking forward to it!"Another great Christie Charbel! For a long time I didn't like the Miss Marple ones. Then I saw Joan Hickson in the BBC/PBS Miss Marple TV show and all of the sudden, I could understand her character! :)
I'm reading the Truman Award nominees (extra credit in middle-school) along with my son, so next up for me is Variant by Robison Wells.
I'll be reading The Fall of the House of Usher and Other Tales by edgar allan poe next for the All Hallow's read edgar allan poe read along that I am hosting in the book club starting October 20th through the 31st. I'll be reading it after I finish Ghosts and Haunts of Tennessee.
Next for me is:
The Wolfman
Reap The Wind
The Help
Out of Nowhere
My sister, Rebecca Boutilier-Phillips is the author of this outstanding YA best seller!

I've read The Passion According to G.H. this year, and wasn't really sure what to make of it. Loved it for parts and then at times it sank to deep into ....hmmm, not sure what to call it...spiritual self-exploration. If I was going to be mean I would say digging in her own navel (is that what you say in english?). However there were beautiful passages and it would make a brilliant paired read with The Metamorphosis by Kafka. I was wondering whether maybe it just didn't survive translation? I would love to give her another shot with Near to the Wild Heart at some point.Which one are you planning to read?
I had though either of The Passion According to G.H. or A Breath of Life or Stream Of Life. These three books were available in the bookstore. And I had zeroed in on A Breath of Life.
