Thank you Kim. I too hate the BDB series. The villains are laughable, hate the heroes, don't like the way that Ward writes (I will confess to slight OCD tendencies, and deliberate misspellings drive me BONKERS), her heroines are total wimps and filled me with an intense urge to belt them upside the head and scream at them about how DUMB they are. And did I mention that her writing style stinks? However, she has GREAT ideas. Now, if she'd just SOLD the idea or had gotten in a writing partner, I see how the series could have been sssooo much better. . .

Did not like Hunger Games either. We could form a club of 2.
But the paranormal author I just cannot read and I've tried several times is Gena Showalter. I've tried two different series and it doesn't matter. Just don't like her books.
Now I admit to loving Christine Feehan, but I totally understand why people hate her. She's so easy to make fun of. But I love her anyway!

LOL I would join that club of 2:) I am surprised that there is someone else who does not like the Hunger Games.

as a fan of the Hunger Games books I honestly thought the movie was better than the book, and after rereading it again I didn't really enjoy it as much. it was more like a one time read only

Why did you hate Cat?! She's like one of my favorite heroine's! Haha

Everyone else I know loves the series.

This is just like me. I couldn't finish the first book because Cat really irritated me. I've tried twice but never managed to finish. I think I'll try again.

And Shiver... ugghh. DNF. Boring. Emo teenage boy. Wasn't into it then, not into it now. Another building hurl.

When I first read the first three books in this series, I actually enjoyed them. When the fourth and fifth books made their appearances, I reevaluated the entire series and ended up disliking it a bit. It just isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

I love the Mercy Thompson books, but it took reading 3 of them before I really fell in love.
I have read the first 3 in Mortal Instruments series. I'm not interested in going on. I would like to read the Infernal Devices series. That one sounds interesting. But YA fantasy gets old pretty quickly.

What cemented my hate of the Angel series is Lassiter show up in Lover Enshrined without explanation and didn't mesh with the established religious construct at all. It was so WTF, but was really annoyed that Google revealed this is a character featured on her website only. I began to develop a distaste for the author's ego assuming everyone reading her books cared enough to stalk her website too.

And Shiver... ugghh. DNF. Borin..." I didn't love Shiver either and everyone I know does so..yeah. I never continued with the series.
I loved the first three MI books but I was happy with that being the ending. When she announced that there would be three more books I bought them but still haven't read them. I am still not sure how I feel about her adding on to the series. I don't think it was necessary.

If someone here tells me it gets better, I MAY reconsider.

Dang Shari, that one was direct hit to my heart. LOL
I find this thread so funny because all of have a favorite series on this list. :)

Not Sandra, but I dislike Kat because she's a self righteous hypocrit. I made it through 2 books, because everyone loves that series, but I can't stand it.

I also didn't like Kenyon's series. I read a couple of the short stories and bought one of the early books (can't remember which one) and tried to read it. Nope. I don't think I lasted more than a chapter before I was done.

Shari Kay, too funny right. One minute someone will post about a book and I'm like, "Amen." Then put one of my favorites I'm all, "Hey!" LOL
Speaking of this, I can not get into Kerrelyn Sparks Love At Stake series

I like it but I am seriously behind on it. I think I only read up to book 7 or something like that. I thoughts it was great and I have all the others to read still and I do plan on picking it up again.

I love the concept of that series, but the sex has taken over the plot.

I have a love hate relationship with Anita Blake. I'm actually reading

Every time I try to give this series up, LKH throws in a plot mystery that keeps me reading. The introduction of The Mother Of All Darkness forced me to power through some otherwise terrible books. Now I'm trying to see how Anita will handle all this new power and if it will completely corrupt all her ideals.

Lastly,

Sorry for the rant and if you like some of these series then again, sorry. :)
Well, I'm seeing some of the series that I didn't like/got tired of listed here. I agree about the Betsy books. The series has gone on way to long. Sorry, but more than about 4 or 5 books (unless you are changing the characters ever book) and they start to get annoying and the story lines drag a bit. And the characters don't seem to grow any, with longer series. Having said all that--there are a few series that have gone on to larger numbers of books, (Anne McCaffrey's Pern books--she has the stories broken up into smaller "series" so that while you might have a return appearance in the books by someone from another set, things aren't from their pov any more. (Harper Hall series is an example where you get the Dragon Riders showing up in minor "supporting" roles. And you see these characters from the other sets as the people in the NEW series see them.)
And I agree C.C.--the IAD series is starting to bore me to death. I haven't been able to read anything since Pleasure of a Dark Prince. And it took me forever to read that one.
While NOT in our chosen genre, the Stephanie Plum books are starting to get very formulistic. I think that 20 is more than enough on that series.
And the Mortal Instruments series bored me to tears. In fact, I couldn't even get all the way through the first book. It took me 4 days to get 3/4 of the way through. And that was when I decided that I had better ways of wasting my time. (Watching paint dry, grass grow, etc.)

MadameZela: I got as far as finishing the first book in the City Of Bones series and just can't bring myself to read the rest. I know others have loved them but I can't see why..
Heather, welcome to our super secret sisterhood. We are super secret because Ward's fans can be kind of (ok, EXTREMELY) scary when defending her writing style, abilities, characters etc. So we tend to slink around, hiding our true identities with masks and long cloaks. . . Seriously though, it's always nice to "meet" another Ward disliker.

And I'm still half way through Cory of Bones and it's dragging on at some parts even though I LOVE the book. I am determined though to finish it before the movie premiere lol.

I am one of her fans and yes, it is true. She deletes criticisms of fans/readers in her websites and social networks, even as simple as saying that you didn't like a character (esp if Ward, herself love that character)your comment will be deleted. I personally, get irritated when she does this.

Ugh, not cool for an author to do that! I've been putting off reading her because I've read some BDB excerpts that I didn't care for, and this doesn't help my opinion.

I wanted to love this book but I'm stuck at around page 200 or so... I just don't like the characters.

The uber-alpha guys (on the verge of being an alpha-hole) don't do it for me.

Me too, I've noticed a real surge of alpha-hole (as you so rightly called them) type men lately. Especially in the indie type books, what ever happened to the nice guys I miss them :(
