Sooooo....you guys still up for 100 Days in Deadland? If so, I'd like to try and get started pretty soon (as in, start and finish while it is still November). Netanella? Randy? Tammy?
I still think she'll read it with us, though. The way we did it with Desolation would probably be a good way to do it again...as in on the book's page itself, while still providing a link here for members to get to, and it'll still promote the Zombies! group, even if it isn't on the Zombies! page. I'm looking at the book now, and its not only broken down into 9 sections, but the sections are even further broken down into chapters. The book, it totality, is 436 pages. I'm trying to figure out a breakdown so we don't take FOREVER to read it! How about this schedule:
Beginning, LIMBO, & LUST (113 pgs): read by Nov. 15th (that way we have time to 'corral' some others in with us), then discuss on the 16th
HUNGER, GREED, & WRATH (116 pgs): read by Nov. 18th, then discuss on 19th
ARROGANCE & VIOLENCE (86 pgs): read by Nov. 21st, discuss on 22nd
MALICE & BETRAYAL, plus the afterword and end material (121 pgs): read by No. 24th, discuss on 25th
I know this is a pretty damn long one, but if we could stick to this schedule, we'd have her done in 10 days. What do ya think?
That seems like a reasonable breakdown. Do you want me to go create the three discussion topics based on that?Tammy would probably zip through it in 2 days or so. :)
I know! She's so fast! And she always tries to stay on schedule, but its hard when you are really 'into' a book. But I think maybe before creating the thread, we should check with Tammy & Netanella, too, so that we are all cool with the schedule. And, if we are zooming along, we can quicken the pace; I just know I have to work A LOT, and work super long shifts that I have to 'recover' from, so that's why I'm scared to commit to just one day for reading, one day for discussion...I'm afraid I'll fall behind. But its up to you guys! :-)
Tammy says she's in...sounds like she's not real worried about the schedule.I think you and I are the slackers. :)
I was considering asking JIM to ditch Savage Dead as the BOTM in lieu of this one. Not sure if Tammy would be down with that, though. So far, no one seems too interested in Savage Dead, and I REFUSE to nominate or be the first to post on the Savage Dead thread. I'm tired of kicking off books that no one wants to discuss. So I figure the 2nd BOTM will just Peter out as usual. Can you ask Tammy if she'd do it on the BOTM thread, or if she's just game for doing it on the book's page? I'm getting ready to run a few errands, then eat, then tune in to some American Horror Story. Thanks!
Nevermind! Looks like the newcomers are interested in Savage Dead!!! I'm not, but that's okay...it'll be the first BOTM I've sat out on since Zombies, Inc.
I'm in - and have the book - self-styled after "The Inferno." Yup - should be fun.I'm okay with whatever schedule you throw out there - just keep in mind my work days are crazy busy through Thanksgiving (the US one, not the Canadian), so I may be silent for a few days at a time - depending on the work load.
Same here...kinda. Mikie's birthday is the 24th. I usually work Thanksgiving, so that's usually not a big deal, but I will wanna 'unplug' for a day to hang with him. I THINK Thanksgiving is on the 28th, so hopefully we'll be done by then!RANDY: looks like it's a go! You wanna make the links on the book's page like last time?
OK. For the 100 Days in Deadland buddy read, I've set up the discussion topics on the book's web page (see links at bottom). This buddy read has been broken up into four parts:
Part 1: Beginning, LIMBO, & LUST (113 pgs).
Part 2: HUNGER, GREED, & WRATH (116 pgs).
Part 3: ARROGANCE & VIOLENCE (86 pgs).
Part 4: MALICE & BETRAYAL, plus the afterword and end material (121 pgs)
The planned discussion schedule:
Part 1: Starting on November 16th.
Part 2: Starting on November 19th.
Part 3: Starting on November 22nd.
Part 4: Starting on November 25th.
