anthea So I just started reading this cos everyone I know who's read this tell me it's amazing etc etc.

I'm a few chapters in (up to the gym part where they play tag?) and it's practically the same as Uglies.

Is it really similar to the Uglies series? Cos I really and truly disliked that series a lot.

There are a lot of similarities. For example, turning of age to have an operation, a friend who questions it and tries to sway the protagonist( I'm assuming ), the Wilds and Invalids are just like the Smoke and the Smokies no?

So if it is similar in that respect, and if it's not worth me continuing for those reasons; then please let me know!!

Annie :-)

I think you should continue it. It is similar to Uglies, but it is also very different. It is written differently, the characters have different personalities, and the setting is different. Even the story line is different, though it seems similar. I have a book policy: Never stop reading a book until you are done with it. Some book just have a certain point you have to get to to like the book...which is sometime the very end. I have a few books that I HATED, but when I finished and thought back on it I found that it wasn't so bad after all, and I was glad that I kept reading it despite my dislike for it.
Sorry if this doesn't make any sense XD

Ashley...(BookNerd) I think you should read it. I liked it a lot, and I noticed similarities between the books to, I was actually expecting the operation to really be a type of brainwashing because the two books were so similar. But as you get farther along the books start to differ more. When your done will you post about if you liked the rest of the book, (if you decide to read it) because I would be curious to see your take on it, and if you believe it was similar to Uglies.

Ilana i think that there are similarities given the nature of the female lead, but i think that you should definitely keep reading since there's something more to be said about lena's story here vs. tally. i like the dynamic of her and alex here where you didn't really get that full on with tally and david.

Mary I read the whole first book and then realize that I didn't like it. I left it for a while then a couple weeks ago, tried the second book. I didn't make it through. I know some people that like the series but I don't feel that it's worth reading. I haven't read the 'Uglies' so I can't say if they are similar.

I'm with you. I didn't care for the first book. Nothing that original. Probably not reading the rest.

Tina J Yeah, they do have similar 'plots'.

But Delirium series is 100 times better!
