PS GREAT discussion topic! Love it.

it has a nice ring to it doesn't it.
SO HARD FOR ME TO DECIDE!!! But I think being an Elf or a Rider seems really cool, so yeah.

Let's be honest, I like staying at home, minding my own business and food is goood. As a hobbit you're allowed to indulge as much as you want. Plus, you get to have hairy feet without anyone being stupid about it. Which brings me to: no more having to wear shoes. Yes.
(Before anyone has any misconceptions about my health or my weight: I'm an average looking person and by that I mean I'm not overweight but society would still say I should lose weight, lol.)
Edit: some of the things in the first post have nothing to do with Lotr, so you can pretty much exclude 'dragon rider', 'vampire' and 'werewolf'.

Actually in the Silmarilian, Tolkien mentions what he calls Werewolves, although I'm fairly certain that they're basically just like ginormous talking wolves as opposed to the morphing Lycanthropes of traditional legend. The most notable of the werewolves in LOTR are Draugluin (a big nasty wolf that guarded one of Sauron's fortresses) and Huan (who, it could be argued, is not actually a werewolf, but something else [as he was only allowed to speak 3 times, and the fact that he was good]). And yes, I _am_ a nerd. Or at least, I pretend to be.

About the question itself, I like what S.M. Stirling did with Rangers in his later Change novels.

I am totally a wood elf at heart. You just have to get past my beard to find out.
