Solved: older children/young teens: Unexploded bomb in children's hideout, friends an old man - Time Bomb [s]

Hi there. I read a book many years ago, about a group of boys who found an unexploded WW2 bomb hidden in one of the favourite hanging-out spots. Said area was also under threat from a construction company of some kind who wanted to build over it. They were also befriended by an old man, who was sympathetic to their problems.


Major spoilers for the ending of the book:
(view spoiler)[The old man was working for the company, he deceived the boys and drove a bulldozer in to destroy their hideout. None of them told him about the bomb before he left, and it detonated, killing him. In the epilogue, what is strongly implied to be his vengeful ghost kills the now grown-up children in various ways, including a gust of wind pushing one of them in front of a train, and the narrator is the only one who survives. I'm afraid the only thing I know about the title is that it isn't Johnny and the Bomb, which I thought it was until I finished re-reading it.
