Hi everyone! My name is Joanne and I live in the UK. I just love reading and have a varied interest from classics to modern thrillers and horror. I love the way a good story unfolds and just leaves you wanting more! I also love poetry and at the moment i am trying to understand the rather gothic poems of Edgar Allan Poe. My poem I AM WHO I AM is a little bit Poeesque if that is a word! Ha ha.I am in a happy place when i have a book or my Kindle in my hand. Best wishes to all.

Welcome Keshav! I know how study/school can stifle the pleasure one used to feel in a pursuit so good for you taking steps to counteract that.Do you have a favorite genre or period you like to read for fun? I read all kinds of novels but not much nonfiction but my go-to books for comfort or escape are mysteries, especially the Golden Age authors such as Agatha Christie or Rex Stout. I guess that you can deduce from that that I prefer plot-driven books over character studies!

Hi everyone! I'm Claire from New England. I'm open to books of every genre, but I love fiction and mysteries the most. I've always thought of myself as a reader, but I have so many books I want to read, i never know where to start. I'm hoping being a part of this group will help with that! Hello all. My name is Matt, and I’m from Nebraska. I mostly tend to read non-fiction on my own, but book club participation has dramatically increased the proportion of fiction that I read. I almost exclusively listen to audiobooks, rather than physically reading. I have a one-hour (each way) commute that I do at least a couple times a week, so I tend to get in quite a few that way.I don’t know which I like more—reading a good book, or discussing it. (I actually suspect the latter.) So that’s why I’m here. I have enjoyed discussions in a few other GR clubs—ConstantReader, Everyone Has Read This But Me, Literary Fiction by People of Color, and the Non-Fiction Book Club. I was on the lookout for more, and this group’s list of current & recent reads looked pretty good. Can’t wait to join in a read & discussion!

Not sure where you’re at with it, but I found it a lot more compelling after they cam to America, for whatever reason. I suspect because then she was writing more from her own memory, and less from stories that had been told to her.

I don't commute - and in Perugia where I live distances are usually short. Still, I walk to work every day and 20 minutes going, 20 minutes coming are enough to listen to 1/2 books each month!! And I also like this way of approaching lilterature. Some readers can be really good

Hi all, I'm Richard, from Australia. I'm a voracious reader of non-fiction books. I just love learning things & how to become a better human. So the only genre I like to read in, is non-fiction.I read off 2 kindles (a Paperwhite Signature & a Scribe); the Scribe I use in seminars & meetings, but also take notes off the books in this one.
I'm currently learning 5 languages. And for my creative side, I enjoy playing my clarinet to my Spotify playlist.

Hello, my name is Faye. Thought I'd drop an introduction here. I am a biology student who adores books of all kinds though I do generally reside in the realm of speculative fiction and adore my good epic fantasy reads. I am not sure how much information should be given in an introduction but I have interests in animals (who I owe my life to several times over) and science in general as well as art, philosophy and linguistics. I wanted to join a community and become a tad more social with regards to all things bookish, as few people I know "have the time" to read.
