Hi I'm Connie and was pointed here by Petra because I am presently reading Ulysses and she kindly gave me the link to her discussion on this book which has been great! I am off during the summer so have been reading more. I enjoy almost all genres, or small at least open to trying all. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Sorry if I'd not seen your arival before, but I was on holiday and I tend not to stay much on social and pc when I'm at the seaside!!!

Thanks for the welcome. The seaside sounds lovely, I am finishing up a day of reading as Hurricane Dorian has passed over neighbouring province giving us tropical storm weather. High winds and lots of rain.
I am presently reading " In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote and thoroughly enjoying the beautiful writing despite the disturbing happenings. Also reading "Fear Trump in the White House" by Bob Woodward for a local book club, not my normal read. Seems to be a September theme however because just finished "Bad Blood" also written by a journalist about a silicone valley start up, for a digital book club I am part of. Liked that one better.
As well as those two (doing fear as audiobook) I am reading " The Orestian Trilogy" Aeschlyus. I have put Ulysses aside while I read this, which is being read by another GReads group I am in and since it was on my TBR shelf ( My niece just finished an English degree) decided to read it now while I will have support.
And last but not least reading "The Other Boleyn Girl" during lunch breaks at work.

Hello, I'm Cinda from Vancouver, Canada. I read both fiction and nonfiction. Lately, I've been reading books by indigenous Canadian authors, such as Speaking Our Truth: A Journey of Reconciliation by Monique Gray Smith. (That's a book written for middle school children but informative for adults as well. And I edited this post to include the author's name.)

Welcome, Cinda! I used to live in Vancouver--I grew up on the Sunshine Coast (I have met Cleo as well, IRL, in Gibsons, but I grew up in what is now part of the District of Sechelt--back then Sechelt was just the village and we lived in an unincorporated community right next to it). I was just in Vancouver in August for a couple of nights on my way back from the Coast.

Yes, but I didn't contact anyone except a local friend plus my family. My mother has vascular dementia so I was trying to keep it simple PLUS we had to spend the night at the Chicago O'Hare airport on the way there so arrived EXHAUSTED :)
BUT, we should meet again for sure--I'll have to contact you here the next time I go because I am not sure if I have all that other info as I don't really use that email anymore.

I read some mysteries, Christine. Your work is so very important for both the kids and parents :) !When I go to Boston I time my visits to get free parking at the public school for kids in wheelchairs, etc, that have a lot of needs. My eldest has Asperger's and also a PDD plus now a few other things, but is physically sound and also intellectually very bright--that said, she can't support herself.

I help MY daughter who has special needs, I only park here when this school closed. My daughter has burned me out for this stuff!!! ALSO my son has dyslexia and a processing issue (he was in early intervention for a couple of years when little for a few things as well) so I edit all of his college papers and also listen to any fiction he has to write about along with him. BUT I go to Boston because my son commutes there and I give him a ride home on his late night, see his concerts (his dyslexia does NOT hurt his talent in music).

H- I have been an avid reader since I could read and also have written down, on note cards, every title since I was 9 years old. I love to look through these cards. For me they serve as a memory of where and when I was reading that book. At one time we had over 2,000 books in our home. But then we downsized and today, we have 500 printed books. Some are keepers I hope to reread. Today I mainly read from my Kindle which has over 1,000 books. Hear about a book, see an adult, and I must own the book. We live in New Jersey, 45 minutes from Broadway. Our daughter, son in law and twin grandchildren live 10 minutes away which we love since we see them often. I may be new to some of you but after sometime away, I have returned to Goodreads and this group. Nice to see some familiar names.
